Despite the game selling quite well the number of active players rapidly imploded, and its sales ended up having a sharp decline after the Switch started to get more multiplayer games. It just didn't have enough lasting appeal to justify something like this.

Go bug their PR guy about it on Twitter and you might get a response.

It's not totally uncommon for localizations to get held up for a while though; Udon brought over the Bayo 2 artbook that got held up by like 18 months thanks to hitting some licensing snags with SEGA.

But...cute noodle lady

>localization
It was an entirely western project, even done by Darkhorse.

But it just kinda evaporated

That doesn't really make any sense because Nintendo already gave DH the license and they (Nintendo) wouldn't lose any money on it.

a few months back they said it's still coming out and is ready. It's just Nintendo is deciding the release date. Probably to link it with some ARMS project that's not announced yet

Its not even an import, Darkhorse themselves were making the comic.

Well they just finished the final Party Crash so unless there's some sequel plans for ARMS I don't know what the hold up could be.

Oh okay, my bad, I was under the impression it was them bringing over a tie-in manga.

>It's just Nintendo is deciding the release date
The more things change the more they stay the same I guess

This is pretty much code for "Arms is dead", and unless they have a sequel in the wing, I don't think we'll be seeing this thing hit the shelves any time soon.

It's the first non-Japanese Nintendo comic in decades, which is probably the only notable thing about it since ARMS is pretty dead at this point.

It didn't even get a rep in 5mash, did it?

SPLATOON
SPLATOON HAPPEND

Springman assist trophy and Ribbon Girl Mii Costume with the rest of the cast as Spirits

Attached: ARMS-FCBD-2018-1-12.jpg (1653x2339, 459K)

It really is depressingly enough.
In fact I remember "debating" with some desperate retard on Yea Forums about how Arms was complete and utter failure and they were trying to claim otherwise and it still did well for Nintendo despite Nintendo themselves quietly trying to wash their hands of it.

Attached: 70726626_p0.png (939x1000, 951K)

Well it sold well for not just a new IP but for a new fighting game IP altogether, got constant balance patches from the team and got waves of additional content and online events.

I guess those retards had some merit to what they were saying.

Just like with Xenoblade 2, it came out late in Ultimate's development cycle so Sakurai couldn't implement a fighter from either game and he expressed an interest in having characters from either game be in.

>utter failure
2 million copies for a fighting game and new IP, but I do agree with you that Nintendo is swiping it under the rug simply because they wanted Splatoon numbers. Reminds me of Capcom scrapping mainline DMC because they weren't making COD numbers despite being two completely demographics. 2 Million for a fighting game is great

Them trying to make it not fail is not the same as it actually not failing.
See The playerbase is practically extinct compared to something like Splatoon 2, or even Splatoon 1, which is saying something since that's on a dead and buried console virtually everyone wants to forget existed, especially Nintendo

Capcom in that transitional phase between between Inafune and Ono were pretty retarded to be fair; remember they actually wanted Sengoku Basara 3 to do at least 2 million in the West.

Actually its still a success because based on budget and development, they didn't require their additional content to be a paid season pass which gives evidence that the game most likely wasn't the failure that this website wants you to believe it was. Its a shame that the online has died down heavily but that doesn't mean that overall it was a failure.

>tfw they just found a 4th Megaman title that was cancelled around that time because concept art was leaked a few days ago
God I fucking hate Capcom. At least they are redeeming themselves. Now if we can get TekkenXStreet Fighter

Attached: 1559343672494.png (500x392, 97K)

Look user. I'm not going to debate this with you.
Jump through as many many mental hoops as you'd like, but that doesn't change anything.

Splatoon 2 got regular updates and the like, and was talk regularly by Nintendo, even to point where one of their big pre-E3 announcements was the final Splatfest of Splatoon 2, even getting its own trailer.

And what has ARMS gotten lately? Nothing.

If ARMS was anything but a failure in Nintendo's eyes, it would've gotten something. And no "but actually" is going to change that.

Attached: 1529808556140.png (554x513, 98K)

Not all games get constant updates n shit, Fighting games have a lot more going into their updates than a shooter would. That's why Splatoon got a lot of updates when most of their updates were just weapon reskins with different sub and special equips. Sorry that ARMS didn't pump out enough reskinned content for ya.

That's just how this shit goes user. That's the final word I'll say on the subject

Attached: 1535994613294.jpg (586x439, 45K)

Nintendo is not run by retards, people somehow keep forgetting this. They know as well as anyone else that the only reason it sold at all is because it was a launch-window title for a console that sold incredibly well. If Arms launched this year it wouldn't sell shit, if we ever get Arms 2 it's gonna have to be really fucking impressive.

A major criticism was that they kept building up all this lore but it was never fully explored within the game. Heck if I remember right the graphic novel was supposed to be their answer for the lack of a story mode. I feel like a good story mode would help sell people on a sequel.

>game sells on waifus
>has horrible story, mediocre gameplay, and is only liked because of said waifus

You know, it's funny. Splatoon fell to this, Overwatch fell to this, everyone fell to it. The only multiplayer game to ever get it all right was TF2. 10/10 unbeatable gameplay, fantastic comic tie-in, and overall likable characters. And it didn't need waifushit to sell.

Attached: f93.jpg (531x429, 76K)

>TF2Ffag feels like they have room to talk shit about anyone
Yeah, how's Valve been treating you these days buddy boy?

Attached: 1527299260189.jpg (400x400, 26K)

Great, as a matter of fact. Valve's problem is delays, which means they don't constantly rush out bad updates anymore, and the comic series ended with almost every plothole tied up. I'd say it's all good.

Attached: 1560396853124.gif (500x529, 715K)

But the comics are left on a cliffhanger with loose ends though, with no update since 2017

What loose end? Olivia Mann? That's small peanuts.

Wait the comic actually updated?

>TF2

2000's babies need to stay in Yea Forums or at least learn not to praise dogshit carried by memes.

>learn not to praise dogshit carried by memes.
As opposed to dogshit carried by waifus?

>B-but look how much it sold arbitrarily compared to so and so!

The absolute state of Armlets. Their dead game failed as a franchise and they will pretend literally anything is a sign of victory. That this game's online is vacant, the comic book is dead and Nintendo abandons it somehow gets eclipsed by the fact it sold more than a fucking Metroid game. Big fucking whoopty-do. Learn to take a loss like a man and go sit in the corner over there forever alongside the F-Zero and Pikmin fagd, your IP is done.

I just wanna mating press Min Min all day but you're right. Never going to buy arms but I still play TF2.

That sucks. I really liked what I saw in the Free Comic Book Day preview last year. Plus with Flynn's track record writing mad scientists, I was looking forward to seeing his take on Dr. Coyle.

Nintendo has seemed to have quietly brushed ARMS under the rug, which is a shame because the world and characters were pretty interesting.

don't try to reason with them, they're blinded by hats, they will eat shit every year.

I just want it to release for the art. I have no faith in the writing.

Better comparison is Golden Sun.
The first game sold great, but the brand had no staying power.

>ARMS is going to be bigger than Splatoon!
>despite selling ok it was forgotten a month later
>any attempt at trying to tell them the game is dead is met by angry toddlers who deny it and call you a sonyfag
visiting Yea Forums is worth it just to see those retards get crushed by their own hubris

Rumour has it Nintendo forced them to rewrite whatever ending they had in mind to match the results of the final party crash.

Attached: Min Min Wins.png (500x478, 365K)

So they're going to make Spring Man lose the title to Min Min? That's a shame.

Well it's just a rumour. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
Mind you, if it's true, the final party crash just ended so they'd likely still be rewriting/redrawing as we speak.

Didn’t the game rely heavily on motion controls and was extremely frustrating as a result? The girls were all cuties, but you gotta release a playable game for it to stick. Maybe we’ll get a sequel one day, but they’d have to redo everything.

No that's just a misconception that shitposters fed people, the game is perfectly playable without gyro controls and can be played with a normal controller. Plus the gyro is actually pretty responsive.

>Yea Forums has better vidya discussion skills than Yea Forums
Not that too surprising to be frank.

Nah, the game's biggest downfall as the lack of single player content

What're the chances that part of the reason this game failed is because Nintendo switched to paid online?

Hasn’t stopped Splatoon. I’m willing to buy the lack of content explanation moreso.

>game sells on waifus
>thinks this applies to Splatoon or Arms
You seem like a complete fucking moron, so I'm not going to engage you in debate, just ask you not to post dumb shit again. You know fuck all about anything and yet think your opinions matter, please stop posting.

Attached: Can you like for one second not be a fuckwit.png (1920x1080, 3.4M)

I'm willing to place some blame to it seeing as all of ARMS strong points is its multiplayer options like its side modes that didn't exist until a few patches later; seriously limb-based volleyball is great.
The bigger killer was not having a strong install base like other Nintendo titles with online such as Mario Kart and Splatoon along with being pretty bare bones on release. Everyone just moved on and seldom looked back.

>In fact I remember "debating" with some desperate retard on Yea Forums about how Arms was complete and utter failure and they were trying to claim otherwise and it still did well for Nintendo despite Nintendo themselves quietly trying to wash their hands of it.

It sold over 2.1 million copies, that's not an utter failure you retard.

>A comic series based on a tech-demo

It was doomed from the start and destined to never actually be a thing past a few preview pages. The truth hurts, I know. I actually liked ARMS so I’m soeaking as someone who WAS slightly jaded, but had accepted the truth and moved on.

You just sound like a quitter who expects the worst out of the world

>Arms was complete and utter failure
They were debating, because you're a fucking moron by calling it an utter failure when it sold incredibly well

SeeAlso
>2.1 million
>not a fucking failure
Retards the both of you

Attached: 1540476744798.png (475x418, 55K)

They managed to make a profit on it so it isn't a failure. Also why are you using my post as a point to support your claim acting like i'm siding with you? Unlike AAA games that need multi millions to make some kind of profit they didn't put the majority of their budget into advertising.

Nintendo IS a AAA publisher dipshit
"Making a profit" isn't fucking good enough, and ARMS was never just a singular game experience, it lived and eventually died by its multiplayer

Fucking thing doesn't even have a story mode. even Splatoon 1 had an actual storymode

Attached: 1524854679693.png (690x771, 638K)

By any of those tokens, Mario Odyssey was a failure too.

saw a few pages of it with the preview they released. nothing after that

i wonder if they will bother now.
reminds me of the new splatoon artbooks not getting an english release

Attached: ARMS comic.jpg (1653x2339, 457K)

Ah, yes because Mario "14.44 million units sold" "Proud single player" Odyssey can rightfully be compared to a game that was sold for it multiplayer and sold 6 million less than Splatoon 2, and and two million less than Splatoon 1, a game that was on a console nobody owned.

I'm just following your logic.
If Arms's good sales don't matter, if its year-long content updates don't matter, if it's online updates and support that only just now ended doesn't matter, what does Arms have to do to be considered a success?

>If Arms's good sales don't matter,
It didn't get good sales though. That's what you're not getting.

ARMs is a first party Nintendo game, it should've sold more than just being on par with 1-2 Switch

> if its year-long content updates don't matter,
What year long updates? You said it yourself its support just ended with zero fanfare by Nintendo or anyone else. If a multiplayer game, games that are designed to last years and years after release, loses support after one, then it's a failure

Arms was very clearly intended to a big deal by Nintendo, and be one of their big boy online games. It didn't, and Nintendo doesn't even seem like they care that much.

Not saying the franchise itself is dead or anything, but this game was a failure by any metric.

Nigger, not every first party Nintendo game gets 10 million sales.
Arms sold on par with Kirby, Donkey Kong and Mario spin-offs. It did alright.

>one of the best selling fighting games of all time, second only to Smash Bros.
>It didn't get good sales though.

Attached: 1555813745500.jpg (199x270, 31K)

Bro, I love Tf2 to death but talking shit about other game won't make Valve to update again

>one of the best selling fighting games of all time, second only to Smash Bros.
Nah, some entries in Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat outsold it.
I thinks Arms is somewhere in the bottom of the top 20.

ARMS itself isn't a AAA game, not every game a AAA company makes is a AAA game.

yea that's from the FCBD special which was a prequel to it. Heck I still have my copy sitting around, could probably scan and story time it here.

It'd be cool if you did because I don't think it's even online at all.

It doing "alright" is not good enough. All of those are mostly single player games, multiplayer games are judged by a different standard. They're supposed to last months and years after release with Nintendo still effectively developing for them

Also none of those other games are first party Nintendo games, with the only other first party Nintendo game selling less than Arms being Captain Toad

>And it didn't need waifushit to sell.
At first...

I mean so did Travis Strikes Again so are we gonna call that AAA?

Nah, you're a retard

It had one issue release that I know of.

Poor game. Sandwiched between Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon2. It had a fucking 1 month window to grow a fanbase.
Shame too since I did enjoy the game, but it just ran out of content to unlock beyond badges which even that is limited.

Travis Strikes Again got people talking for being misleading, and being attached to No More Heroes as a whole

I doubt it even did MvCI numbers.

Arms sold 2.1 million as of September 30th
MvCi barely did 1 million.

Ironically, 2 million is what Capcom wanted for Street Fighter 5 and MvCI to be considered successful. Both missed the mark as far as I know.

enjoyed the game quite a bit
even going back for the min min vs ninjara final was pretty fun again

Are you actually illiterate? He said second only to Smash Bros, not that it was comparable. There's a massive gap between the games, but ARMS still outsold any other fighting game on the market.

You're genuinely delusional aren't you
Here goes
Street Fighter II - 15.5 million
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U - 14.85 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 13.81 million

TEKKEN 7 needed a price cut and years to sell measly 3 million compared to 8 millions the franchise used to do.

>Tekken 7
Fair point. But that still comes from a franchise of games that have regularly broken the million mark.

Since when is fucking Xenoverse considered a fighting game? At best it's an RPG.

It's amazing how you managed to be more retarded than fucking Yea Forums. That's quite an accomplishment.

What part of my posts were "misinformation" user

Please tell me how 2 million copies is something to be proud of in an industry where anything less than 5 is a flop.

It really did seem like a game you could only play for a month before getting bored. It sold well because it was an early title for the Switch.

>Please tell me how 2 million copies is something to be proud of in an industry where anything less than 5 is a flop
Because that only applies to AAA games that cost a billion dollars and even more to advertise to make you mongoloid. For a fighting game without nowhere near that amount of budget that's spectacular. Xenoblade 2 sold even less and that's considered a massive success.

>anything less than 5 million is a flop
Jesus christ do you have any idea how retarded you sound?
Do you have any idea how many video games can sell over 5 million copies on a single console?

Attached: 1476552679780.png (372x357, 227K)

Congrats, you know nothing about the industry you’re acting like you’re an expert on.

Attached: Captain_FalconSNES2.png (150x334, 75K)

It always struck me as the sort of game where people would look back and say, "Yeah, the first one was okay, but the sequel was so goddamn good."

>Because that only applies to AAA games that cost a billion dollars and even more to advertise to make you mongoloid.
Do you Nintendo is some kind of indie studio you dense fuck? Arms did have a good budget and was advertised heavily.

>Xenoblade 2
Different fucking standards you dense fucker. JRPGs that aren't attached to a big name like FF or DQ have never sold well in the west, one breaking the million mark is a massive success because usually they don't do that and are niche properties.

Fighting games that aren't attached to big names from the arcade era never sell well either.

Still wasn’t a AAA game that needed to sell 10 million to break even.

Nice ad hominem, why explain things when just throwing around insults can make your point sound so much better.

>Do you have any idea how many video games can sell over 5 million copies on a single console?
And do you know how many stay relevant? I shouldn't have to clarify 5 mil was hyperbole, but it's really not that far off from the regular truth of the industry.

Otherwise, please tell me all the games that didn't reach ludicrous standards and are basically dead despite going above and beyond in any other medium?

Attached: 1558464019239.gif (500x277, 1.71M)

>Do you Nintendo is some kind of indie studio you dense fuck?
user, Nintendo is notoriously cheap when it comes to making games and doesn't put nearly the amount of money as most other big studios do, they just have programming wizards that turn limitations into an art form. It's why their consoles are usually a generation behind post-gamecube.

>Different fucking standards you dense fucker.
Are you seriously implying fighting game standards are that much higher?

Attached: 1554860648872.jpg (720x489, 50K)

And how many do you still that are still around hm?

It was enough of a risk for Nintendo to pull out after one year of support. You seem to be missing the major point of Arms not being a game that was sold on its single player

Nintendo is cheap because they're using outdated hardware and have been for the past decade. Just because they spend less relative to other big name publishers doesn't mean they spend pennies for most of their games.

Which is only adds to my point, since if there was a little smoke from Arms would they continue to support it or see it as anything other than a failure? It's that mentality why so many of their franchises are dead in the water and likely never coming back outside of cameos in Smash Bros or something.

>Are you seriously implying fighting game standards are that much higher?
Not by much, but yes. Fighting games do have higher standards by and large, since JRPGs only have one or two franchises that regularly break one million units and beyond, while fighting games have give or take 5, between Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken.

So, who else is getting this?

Attached: 91nerBvPTYL._SL1500_.jpg (926x1500, 404K)

They didn’t drop support after a year, it still got events regularly. And this is an extremely silly argument when Smash Ultimate’s DLC is planned out for only a year, and the last Smash also received DLC for only a year and a half.

>it was enough of a risk for Nintendo to pull out after one year of support.
You mean like Splatoon 1? That got fuck all after the first year. By your logic that was a failure too.

I guess?
Thing is Smash 4 still got regular acknowledgment by Nintendo and the player base in general. And Ultimate is sure to follow suit even after all the DLC is done

I just don't see that kind of attachment for Arms. That said, they might be making a sequel, which would render all this moot.

What exactly is “regular acknowledgement”? Again, they kept having events with the final one happening just recently. And ARMS certainly had acknowledgment in Smash.

It was. By proxy of it being on a dying Nintendo console, and the cease of support was likely in part due to Splatoon 2 being in development at the time.
And it STILL sold more, and got fanfare when it reached the endpoint of its events.

Me.
Brother or sister?

Tournaments and the like, being shown in adds and used as a system seller despite the Wii U being on its last legs.

And yeah, they had events and tried to keep it alive, but it really didn't amount to much, with the final one just quietly happening, outside of maybe some tweets.

>It was. By proxy of it being on a dying Nintendo console, and the cease of support was likely in part due to Splatoon 2 being in development at the time.

No, Valve's problem is that like 3 people are working on TF2 and they don't want to do anything.

No, I’m just a realist who knows when a company doesn’t give a shit about their IP and it’s healthier just to move on to something relevant instead of begging for scraps.

first year was a tough place to be for arms
even for splatoon

Negro you just called Splatoon 1 a failure. You're not a realist, just flat-out delusional.

I swear it's just the one dumb pokkenfag, he shows up in every ARMS thread and is always retarded

Um, what? I think you got your anons mixed up. All I said is that getting excited for this comic and ARMS as a franchise in general is hopeless and will cause fans more grief than rewards since the game is first and foremost a tech-demo, not a primary IP

Also, I didn’t say anything about Splat.

Also, if you want to continue liking ARMS, then fine,I don’t care.

Me too. Good taste.

It is curious. Are they just going to never mention it again?

Most times someone asks DH via twitter about it they reply, it just keeps getting pushed back for reasons

Honestly a wait and see for me. Platinum games can be hit and miss, even if the hits are pretty awesome

Not that guy, but MK11 is literally considered the second best selling game of the year so far. Kingdom Hearts 3 has sold more than 5 million copies, and the only games that come close are RE2 and DMCV, both of which sold 2 million each so... MK11 must’ve sold somewhere between 2-5 million copies, more than Arms did.

I wanna play as spring tree.

Days Gone has also been selling very well, outselling MK11 in every region except the US.

MK11 is a multiplat and it was just digital outside of US

hope we see some reference in the game
