"I sure hope the movie doesn't make me the villain for no reason"

>What a sad little person; well I guess I'm not completely incapable of sympathy. Though I will of course still use her as a springboard for my own devices I wont actively try to hurt her. Gosh I hope the writers round my character in a compelling way by adding shades of gray instead of simplifying my character into a pointlessly ruthless sociopath.

"I hope this works!"
>cheats the audience

>Man, I can't believe I forgot my sabre! They only sell those medieval looking decorative wallhangers here, that are only good at cutting through snow and will break into little pieces if you hit something hard. Then again, why would I ever need to fight anyone here?

I mean I didn't like the movie but Jesus fuck it wasn't that bad of a twist

Anal defecation rape

I know an invisible audience is watching me right now, so I'm going to smile and pretend to be a good guy.

Why wouldn't he smile though? He's just found an easy way to the throne.

based

If you have to cheat the narrative to get a bigger reaction from the audience, it's a shitty twist.

There is a difference between a honest smile and a scheming smile.

This. Hans knew what he was doing was nefarious. His smile during his twist reveal scene says so. The smile under the boat is just bullshit from Jennifer Lee.

How is it cheating the narrative, you literally never see him alone , why would he have any reason to act like a dickhead?

He was alone there. Anna was leaving. Unless you count Sitron.

Victim of the shit rewritten script to make him a lame twist villain.

"Poifect..."

Elsa was probably still the villain when this scene was made

>Intention the entire film is supposedly to take the Throne of Arendele by any means necessary
>Has opportunity to let Elsa be killed by a foreign force with out worry of being blamed
>Saves Elsa anyways
How is the twist not retarded?

This, at this point of the story how did Hans know what Princess Anna and Elsa look like when they've never left the castle since they were children? This goofy chick who knocked into his horse could have just been a noblewoman for all he knew.

This was before he got mind-controlled by the stone gnomes to be evil DUH

By the time that shot happened, Anna already introduced herself as a princess of Arendelle.

If I were guessing, Anna flattered Hans's ego. We never see other girls swooning over him, so it might be a first time for him.

Hans redemption arc when?

You literally just described why it's cheating. If we justify plot twists based around what we DON'T see then you can bullshit your way through anything.

>Oh turns out a random palace guard was the badguy all along because we never see him else where

Doubt it will be in Frozen II

fpbp. This, and him saving Elsa from the Duke of Weselton's guards made no sense.

Some have argued that it was because he didn't want her dead yet. What bullshit. If Hans wanted her dead he would have let her die.

I've had some fanatics say it was justified to preserve the twist.

I feel like the cutaway scene with him in charge of everything back in Arendelle was meant to be the implicit turning point where he decided to become a villain, but the fact that nobody ever brings it up speaks to how effective it was at such a scene.

The trolls are honestly so awful I'd fully buy that they're influencing the minds of people to do what they want

I hope skyqueen Rapunzel snaps them out of existence

But Hans was still definitely good in that scene. He was doing more than what was expected of him, more than both royal sisters combined. He was loyal to the people, Anna was loyal to her family.

And yet they are the ones to return to the sequel. Everybody hates the trolls.

I always liked that the trolls' song was cut from the stage musical.

>He was doing more than what was expected of him, more than both royal sisters combined. He was loyal to the people, Anna was loyal to her family.
Yeah, but he looked suspicious, so-- Actually, I don't even remember what the scene was. Hang on.
>Hey, a shitty clip of the scene in question filmed straight from a CRT like it's 2009.
Wow, it's not even what I remember it being. I thought it ended with him being suspicious as fuck, but he just fucks off when the horse comes back.

Fuck it, the heel turn really did come out of nowhere.

It would be one thing if Hans was a villain coming from left field like say Bellwether, but when his actions directly contradict his ulterior motive, then it is a felony onto the narrative.

He's thinking it would be a nice change to take the virginity of a female for a change.

>And yet they are the ones to return to the sequel
They're the villains. We're going to get confirmation that they mindraped Hans into being evil so their adopted reindeer fucking son can nail Ana and be made prince of Riverdale. Don't forget "conceal don't feel" was their advice.

>Riverdale
Leave Jughead alone you fae fucks!

Nah, the trolls have to be good because they are proxy black people.

nani

Frankly a lot of this movie's problems could have been solved by giving him a big damn villain song in the third act.

Still wouldn't fix the continuity issues.

I don't understand why he didn't marry Anna. Like Goddamn, he could've tapped that booty and found some way to rule in the process. The real queen was basically M.I.A. and he could have done a real coup with the sister in tow.

From what I got from the movie, he wanted Elsa to stop the magic blizzard first. He had no idea whether the curse would just stop if she died.

Meh, they could work some reason for him saving her there I to the song. Last second spurt of conscience or something. I just feel like the last part of the movie just stopped being a musical.

Seems like a safe bet it would, I can't see any reason why he would think otherwise.

Safe bet to kill Elsa? Makes sense that by killing the source it will stop the storm.

I remember someone did a pretty cool animatic with Hans having fire powers to the song 'Where I Want to Be', though I can't find it anymore. A villain song wouldn't have fixed some of earlier plot holes, but it certainly would have helped the turn feel a little less jarring.

youtube.com/watch?v=XeDAYTbI4Eg

He was pretty quick to hop aboard the 'kill the queen' train as soon as he got back to the castle.

I can't believe people love this film. The plot and motivations make no sense, the only clever thing is sisterly love saving the day. The rest is just excuses to go from one song to another. Why did the parents think trapping a girl in a room all her life was a humane thing to do, and if so, why have the other sister torment her by asking her to do stuff she isn't allowed to do?

I bet the sequel will address the question about isolating the girls, but I would be pleasantly surprised if they have Hans in it beyond a joke or mention.

>Saves Elsa anyway

Because at that point they needed to stop the winter and he thought she could do that. He only resolves to have her executed after she tells him that she doesn't know how to stop it.

Nah

He intentionally aimed the crossbow up at the chandelier. He still cared about his reputation.

Really? His finger wasn't even on the trigger.

Hans's reputation would have been unscathed if Elsa died by the Weselton guards. They were acting against his specific order as to not hurt Elsa.

It's pretty impressive how Hans can perfectly aim a Crossbow in someone else's hands.

And make the guard holding the bow pull the trigger telepathically...

>Well, wasn't that amusing.

And then the camera cut before him reworking this sinister plans.

That's not how you write a twist.

fanpop.com/clubs/frozen/videos/36837903/title/hans-where-want-fire-verse

it doesnt work though and this makes me angry

Idiots would want Hans to have fire powers.

i dont support it either

but admit it, this song is hans

Fpbp. Everyone pack it in, this threads done.

What is the song?

why would he want to be the guy that killed Elsa when at that point Anna is still presumed to be alive?

Just give him a short dark reprise of Love is an Open Door before he leaves Anna to die.

Hans wouldn't be the one to kill Elsa, one of the guards would. And don't give me that crap about how he would be responsible because he was in charge of the siege. Hans specifically ordered for harm to not come to Elsa.

Right here it's "Where I Want to Be" from Chess

>finishes a sarcastic reprise of 'love is an open door' just as he the closes and locks the door to the study dooming Anna to die of a frozen heart
Would have been kino
