So what's the Yea Forumsnsensus on Steven Universe? I'm still on S1 and honestly other than a few weak ones like Tiger Millionaire and Onion Trade this season has stuck to a solid 7 or 8 out of 10, and the two parter with Lapis was a 10
But like all good things, I know there's bound to be a dip, anything I should look out for?

If you want my opinion? It's not very good, but its super comfy and a good way to relax but when compared to most other shows it fails to live up to its hype. Season 1 is unironically the best, seasons 2 and 3 have their moments but afterward its where things begin to drop off. If you made it to the season 3 finale I'd say stick with it if the "lore" intrigues you otherwise drop it there,

It has without a doubt the least creative conflict resolution possible and the show does it multiple times.

It sounds almost absurd, but at the end of the day it really was just a cartoon meant to normalize homosexuality.
It wasn't some 11th hour bullshit ala Korra or Adventure Time.
It was multiple episodes and a central reason of conflict between Homeworld and the Crystal Gems aside from human conservation.

The series is very good at two things: character design and worldbuilding.
The characters are for the most part following a single monochromatic scheme or use light complementary colors that are pleasing on the eye, largely because the show is art-driven, not story or plot driven. At a glance, you can tell what each character is about, which is always good for a cartoon.
The worldbuilding is pretty sweet as well. It's not as batshit insane as something like Kirby, but for what it is, the backstory behind the Gem War leaves a lot to the imagination.
That's it. Pretty much everything else is shit.
For how focused the art is, the character scaling and modeling is a complete shitshow. Characters do not have a solid scale which they use. Allegedly, the team barely if ever storyboards, which really shows.
A lot of people like the music, but really there are only a few standout tracks like Giant Woman and Stronger Than You. The rest are same-y string shit which would be great for a background score, but for a series that tries to incorporate song numbers as a main element, it's severely lacking. Probably the best comparison would be to FiM, but to be fair I can at least remember twice as many songs from it, and I've only watched about a quarter as many episodes.
In terms of story, the worldbuilding is pretty nice if you're into that type of thing, but even then you're better off not wasting your time. Most of the episodes are inconsequential revolving around Steven being a retarded little manbaby doing shit that nobody cares about, and when something is supposed to happen, usually someone just cries for thirty seconds, then things go back to the status quo, with the villain instantly 'redeemed.'
The morals are either just feminist/LGBT propaganda, predictable cartoon cliches, or at worst Steven being coddled for fucking up.
There are videos online breaking it down further, but you get the idea: 'Wasted Potential: The Show.'

And besides that, if you think that Steven is a "mature" character, then you either need to grow the fuck up already or kill yourself since you're a failure as an adult. Steven as a character is an emotional brat who gets rewarded or pat on the back for impulsive outbursts and tantrums that actively make things worse for everyone around him. Steven doesn't get any development other than unearned magical superpowers which he only receives due to being the Gary Stu child of a diamond.
The series isn't "profound" or "mature" for sidestepping confrontation, it's lazy. The Gem Homeworld is literally a genocidal xenophobic government, and yet the only character which acts the part is Jasper, the only major villain with an actual defeated moment, and it isn't even from the central cast.

Peaks with season 2, especially around the Jailbreak arc, then goes downhill from there. Characters basically become mouthpieces for the writers, Zuke turns Lapis and Peridot into self-inserts/wish-fulfilling ships, character arcs and development are thrown out for the current agenda and everything gets lampooned into "problem is caused, made out to be a big threat, and instantly solved."
I don't enjoy it. I've stopped watching it. But I'm happy with the time I spent up to Jailbreak and a few episodes afterwards. I'm not sad because of how things turned out; I'm happy that for awhile it was perfect.
