I really liked Homestuck. I used to be so excited for updates.... until I reached this nightmare of exposition text. I never actually thought to myself "I'm fucking done," I just kept putting off reading it. Now, years later, I return to try again and OH GOD IT'S WORSE THAN I REMEMBER.
So yeah, share some of the other moments in comics that subtly and not so subtly sapped your will to go on.
That part was especially bad, even rereading it is painful because of the contrast of John and Roxy going through all that heavy shit, John mastering his abilities and completing his personal quest, and his adventure through canon to fix everything. Then immediately after that instead of decompressing he's hit with a slew of bullshit from Dave and Karkat that obviously makes him uncomfortable with all this. You don't do that to a guy immediately after he's stressed out from all that important shit.
It's already bad that you liked Homestuck at all, it's just best to let it die.

Man you can see her asking for help with this and nobody at the time could relate to it so they couldn't help her. An assassin that really hates killing and only wants to play games, contrasting with all her friends who ARE gungo-ho ruthless killers, or want to be. She's already showing her insecurity, and it took lots of mindgames and psyching herself up to actually go through with the execution that she dreaded doing, and regretted for years after.
You just gotta power through this segment, but I don't think anyone was a fan of it, even when it first came out.
The last segments were painful and totally skipable. I remember seeing some theories around that time that hussie was trying to stretch the comic as far as he could, i guess those theories were right..

Ahaha, poor user. Enjoy watching Vriska resume being a cunt again, as well as Terezi finally get to the root of her problems. You're very close to Collide, which is a lot of fun, and then Act 7, which is glowy flashy garbage that the epilogues do their best to repair and explain. But the epilogues themselves are huge, so make sure you've set aside the time for that.

Homestuck was a great way to reveal that an entire generation was completely FUCKED in the conker. If you ever meet a Homestuck fan you should get a background check on them.

Friendly reminder that the troll sesion was a shitfest. They cheated and powered throught it so much and fast that not a single one of them awakened their classpect powers except Aradia (because your session is fucked if your time player doesnt do shit) and Vriska (due to god tier power up bs, and god tier is also a hidden cheat button)
They also gave the next universe cancer.
Andrew Hussie should get his ass kicked by demons of Hell. 1 ass kicking per demon for a long time, so a decent Legion gets a good ass kicking.

The trolls faction should have been reduced to a set of 4/5 characters. Have Karkat and Terezi working together as leading figures, keep Kanaya and Tavros there too and if you want to throw Vriska in to stablish some rivalry with Karkat.
I read Homestuck all at once when it ended, and this part was truly the worst. I knew I was nearing the comic's end, which made it so much worse.
I stopped reading the first time shortly after the new humans were added. It seemed neat at first - seeing the old mentors as kids - but god, they were just so boring. It's like Hussie wanted to write them as actual teenagers, and forgetting that the reason the other characters are interesting is because they did not act like actual teenagers.
The epilogues are still the worst though.

I was stoked to see BEST sprite again, but by this point I have already given up about Homestuck, so anything not involving him didn't matter to me.
Which wasn't all that different from BEFORE this point, now that I think about it.

I felt like this was sort of the tradeoff for A6A6 up to this point beng very light on dialouge compared to the rest of the comic, but holy shit was it ever a slog. Especially when you just want to see the battle.
I found the Openbound pages worse though, becsue they were really well done and beautifully presented, but the godawful slew of dialouge made those aspects impossible to properly appreceate.
The only people John is a rival to are Terezi metaphorically, and Caliborn maliciously. One benign and filled with compassion, the other violent and filled with murder attempts.
I didn't mean it as having Terezi literally leading the trolls like Karkat but more as a main character inside the story.
I must say you are right about Tavros though.

Not really. Karkat is a foil for John, as the de facto troll leader, obsessed with movies, and his red against John's blue, but they're not rivals, and Karkat ends up being a foil of different characters instead while John does other things during their development.
