I’m the only one who liked Godzilla 1998? The cartoon was also great and well done.

It had its ups and downs. The cartoon was great, because it actually followed the themes of the original Godzilla.

It was a product of the 90's and felt really cheesy
but Zilla looked cool, good idea to make it its own character but should have made her cooler in Final wars than the 98 film

Japan's very lazy in that sort of thing (see g-saviour in build fighters). They'll rather go for the easy "make fun of this" than actually put an effort to make it look cool.

I don't think it was laziness as it was more genuine dislike towards the character.
Also, I don't think Toho counts as the entirety of Japan.

The original movie is fine as a monster film, it’s just a shitty Godzilla movie. Had it been its own thing, I think people would have appreciated it more.
The cartoon was excellent, however.

Zilla is my headcanon on how Gigantosarus look in the Legendary Universe.

Here is a giant guide to the animated series with lots of concept art for the various original monsters.

Love me some Godzilla.
The new movie was good but where the FUCK was my nigga Gamera at?

Different movie studio with different legal rights.

Fffuuuuck that sucks.
Was Legendary only able to get rights for Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra?
I know they're doing stuff with Toho so I'd assume they could get rights for other kaiju as well

General consensus is the cartoon is great. What most people hate is the Movie.
I liked the movie. Mostly because Zilla had a proper weirdly tragic Kaiju death

It was fun, but people were expecting Godzilla, not a T-Rex lookalike that had the same name, so.

The movie’s biggest problem with the movie is that it was called “Godzilla”. As a monster movie it’s pretty solid, but as a Godzilla movie, it left a lot to be desired.

The animated series was stellar though.

What are some Godzilla or Kaiju comics I should read?
Got any recommendations?

I’d watch that

Godzilla Rulers of Earth is fun and so is KaijuMax

Love the cartoon with the weekly monster.

Is this concept art from before the 98 cartoon was finalized or what?

it's fanart of the original show but with legendary Godzilla and it's characters in place of the old

It's fanart of the Legendary characters, drawn in the style of the 98 cartoon.

I'd watch it

Good, the guy with the white hair and glasses was fucking obnoxious. Same with that douche from those awful phone commercials
A series would have to just ignore/remake his established personality

I loved the '98 film as a kid. It was the first movie I was properly excited to see in theaters. It's still okay as an adult, but it's no where near my favorite Godzilla or kaiju film.

The cartoon was amazing.
Marvel should take notes. That's their Hank Pym series, or Marvel's version of Justice League Dark could be. A team of scientist, and a giant monster look at the darker corners of reality, where people don't want to go.

Toho should also take notes in regards to creating original monsters & threats. The series did that very well. A few were homages to Toho monsters but most were not.

KOTM dropped 70% overseas for the weekend. It's not hitting $400 million and is a certified flop.

A shame. It's a really good movie. Critics can eat a dick.

I don't recognize any of these characters. The left one is the dork, right? The right is the old lady that got two lines then smashed by ghidora, left?

Godzilla: Half-Century War
Godzilla in Hell

I liked it as well. The monster designs were cool. Better than the Legendary films, although I suppose its easier since cartoons can have bright pallets.

Its more of a product of Jeff Kline.

>Lower jaw bigger than skull
I fucking love it. It's my one weakness regarding the movie.

>KaijuMax

Did they ever get the girlKaijumax comic out?

I’m fed up with this worrl

Chink girl that has several generations of family in Monarch and is probably gonna be paired with the dad character in an awful studio mandated romance

It was like Star Trek Beyond. It cojldnt shake the damage from the previous movies and being the third sequel in a series.

Yeah, Toho licenses out monsters in an individual basis

I guess a korean mobile game has the same bucks as a major film studio!

>they’re gonna charge the same licensing fees for a shitty mobile game as a Hollywood motion picture

You can't tell me Rodan costs money to get the rights.

They peobably throw him in when youre buying other rights.

Clearly you haven't purchased Toho products. They charge through ass.

>Clash of Kings

Whoa, Stannis looking fit nowadays

Then how'd they make all those games with like a million monsters?

Monsters cost money and Toho licenses them out individually, Doherty commented on this on his Twitter. That's why the backs of Godzilla DVDs have all the monsters' stamps individually lined up each with a copyright symbol after their names.
The mobile studio only has to pay for the kaiju licenses whereas Legendary has to pay for them, marketing, the actors' salaries, the fx teams' salaries, etc. I also bet Korea's trade laws are different in regards to licensing.
