I thought it was pretty "2000s" at the time with all the characters being kids in high school. All cartoons being made at the time were that way. And still are.

It reeks of 2000. It is a product of its time. Keep in mind the first movie and Ultimate X-men came out around this time. They all tried a slightly more “realistic” spin to be different from the colorful 90s X-men

The first season felt more like an after school 90's cartoon. Not that it makes it bad, it makes it comfy to me.

Nah, I think 2000's is about right for it. Something about the fact that they made almost all X-men attend high school is very 2000's for me, like Smallville. The general fashion you see in the show and some already pretty fucking dated things like Rogue being goth for no reason only further cement it as "yup, I am back in 2000's". Wanda aged fucking poorly.

A lot of things in it are very much products of 00's and kinds of attempts at "more grounded" storytelling that reek of 00s the same way excessive belts reek of 90s.
