Does Yea Forums like Hellcat?
No fuck off
Haven't seen much of her Avengers/Defenders stuff, but I enjoyed Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat and her appearances in various She-Hulk comics.
Oh, and when she went to Alaska. She seems like a very versatile character.
She's okay.
Liked her when she actually WAS a cat.
She's never been in anything I remotely gave a shit about
She's okay, she's also cute.
No because that bitch is just stealing Tigra's old costume
Not anymore.
She used to be fantastic, especially when people like DeMatteis wrote her for Defenders. But recently Patsy Walker aka Hellcat was kind of a trainwreck and then she was turned into LITERALLY THE WORST PERSON EVER on the JJ Netflix show.
Seriously, Trish is the polar opposite of Patsy and it's fucking with my head.
90s Hellstorm was so based.
She’s fun in defenders, and is one of the core members imo
>but I enjoyed Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat
LEAVE.
And then she went to Hell and it was like a holiday.
And she came back refreshed and... and...
She's terrible
yeah. she punches queers.
>Tigra thinks Patsy is third rate and unworthy to fill her costume
>Nearly come to blows
>Tigra and Patsy vow to settle it one day
>They never do
Fucking Marvel!
That art...
What the fuck is that art?
A relic from Marvel's pre-superhero days who had to become a cape just to remain in existence.
I was too young to read her original run, and everything with her that comes out these days is literally dog shit.
She was okay pre-Kate Leth and will be okay again in a few years once she's had time for the stink to wash off.
I'm actually glad Jessica Jones is over forever now due to how shittily they treated Trish at the end there.
>It's okay for Jessica to kill people! But not Trish, if Trish does it it's evil! We even have magically convenient absolute evil detecting man to prove it! SEE THAT MAKES IT TRUE
I actually physically cringed...it was just that bad.
They do in one of the She-Hulk comics.
Patsy admits to feeling weird about it, Tigra says it's OK since she can't really wear much clothes these days anyway and claims it looks better on Patsy anyway.
Of course, then mind-control happens and Tigra nearly kills Hellcat, but the matter was resolved in a manner of speaking...
Not sure what this is about, but as for the age thing, she's canonically in her mid-late 20s - not accounting for all the time she spent... dead.
Why do so many artists forget her costume has toe boots? It's part of her power set.
Vomit
That writing. Marvel is garbage.
Lmao DCfags still whining about cancelled serieses
I never cared for her.
Marvel should have pushed her as their main standalone heroine instead of Carol. Patsy has a much longer publishing history and already has a conservative costume so they could have let Carol still be sexy.
Fuck kate leth
We should have a storytime of pain some day.
> Hell no
I guess, but then don't superheroes generally need to be well, super?
Patsy doesn't usually have any powers and is only a moderately skilled hand-to-hand fighter/acrobat. Plus, even when she does have magic, or psychic powers, or gadgets they're relatively minor - I mean, I suppose it keeps the SFX budget down, but even as a fan of the character, "Hellcat" doesn't seem likely to become the next summer blockbuster.
Due to the above, I think she would probably work best in a supporting role within another hero's stories.
She dropped both sets of claws for some reason - probably after the artists/writers noticed that she rarely climbs stuff or scratches people...
Nah she still has them in some art. Probably just Leth who didn't know about them.
My point is they were never very consistent with them and, despite the name, she's not really 'cat-themed' per se so they don't necessarily make sense particularly given her personality.
Also, doesn't she create her costume via magic now? If so, she can probably summon different iterations of it.
>Hell no
They could have easily done a tacticool version of the costume but then I remember that Netflix-Marvel hates its own comics
I dunno. Isn't part of Walker's backstory that she's dreamed of being a superhero ever since she was a child? As such something 'grounded' or 'realistic' strikes me as being at odds with her character.
>Isn't part of Walker's backstory that she's dreamed of being a superhero ever since she was a child? As such something 'grounded' or 'realistic' strikes me as being at odds with her character.
Then her saying hell no to the actual costume makes even less sense and more at odds with her character
Pic related.
I didn't know she did reject it as I never could get into the Netflix stuff. I was just commenting on the general principle.
What does she even do? Does she have some sort of gimmick that differentiates her?
Well, she started out as a character in a teen romance comic for girls. She's one of the oldest characters in Marvel Comics, in fact (She's from 1944). They brought her back as a cape character in 1976.
And then her life became an insane rollercoaster of nearly-laughable horror.
She married the son of the actual fucking Devil, believed for a while she was the daughter of the actual fucking Devil, committed suicide, went to Hell, then eventually came back and now she is a cutesy kitty-esque funny character.
It's honestly weird she gets so little attention.
Was 1976 a bad year for Marvel? Who thought making a teen romance protag into a superhero would be good business decision?
She USED to. I don't know WHO this new human chick is.
I think I've heard that one of the Avengers writers at the time was a fan of her old comics and wrote her in as an homage.
She befriended Beast and eventually became a heroine herself after finding Greer Nelson's old costume - presumably this was back when The Cat's powers derived from her suit rather than genetic manipulation by those creepy cat-things or maybe the author forgot.
Either way, Hellcat was born!
When the fuck did they to turn her into second Tigra?
Oh that was an alternate continuity in which she, not Greer, was the first Cat and got transformed in her stead
shes a poo master
>Tigra is suddenly okay about it and even says her costume looks better on Patsy
Did Patsy kick Tigra's ass off screen or something?
I heard she was meant to be a parody of feminists--a nagging woman made into a superheroine to shut her up who does dick all for her team.
Probably given that its Tigra. Patsy kicked her ass, made her tap, and made Tigra acknowledge her as the true Cat.
Is she best without toes or with toes?
with obviously
And her tits are too big.
G-golly gee.
Maybe they made up offscreen. Like two kittens, fighting: you rub them down with fish oil, they ilick each other clean, instant friendship.
...What kind of question is that?
Does that actually work?
Only know Patsy Walker when her teen comics got posted here. Can't say I know her that much as Hellcat, but I did enjoy her teen comedy/romance series.
I have no idea. I heard it on a comedy show. I can imagine it working.
>What kind of question is that?
Her boots. Toes or no toes?
I meant obviously it is better WITH.
She had a good start and finish, so that obviously wasn't enough for the hack writers at Marvel. Instead of someone taking the mantle or a similar origin they brought Patsy back from the dead to torture readers.
Having toes on her suit is one of Hellcat's iconic design elements. Having her run around in regular boots makes her a lot less unique.
I've heard of a similar trick to get nursing queens to adopt another cat's kittens - put some butter on them and let her lick it off.
It does seem to work the few times I've tried it, but cats do tend to alloparent anyway so it might just be a matter of being patient.
and they probably would have if it werent for Disney
Seems doubtful to me. Patsy rarely expressed any interest in feminism unless faced with explicit sexism.
Apart from pestering Beast to fulfill his promise to help her become a superheroine, Patsy didn't really 'nag' anyone either and was mostly played for comic relief.
I suppose it is possible she was incorporated as a token female member of the teams she was on, but I think both the Avengers and Defenders had other girls when she was with them...
She was and is a rare example of a female superhero who goes more in the whacky lighthearted crimefighter mold. Before the recent trend of sitcom humor it used to be quite rare to see a female hero engage in lighthearted antics like Patsy did, as most were either focused on the sex appeal or on the grim stoic shieldmaiden archetype.
Probably what attracted Kate Leth to the character in the first place as well.
It would be awesome to have a movie that starts as a slice of life Archie style patsy walker movie that half way through she just becomes a super hero
Sequel she gets killed saving someone cause suicide is to much taboo and reserects in the modern day
She was basically Bryne/Slott She-Hulk.
...... her talking like she knows everything on her radio show? Trying to Learn how to fight like a man? Trying to be a hero like a man with "fempower"? Not getting married because of "mah career"?
She's an SJW's wet dream! What propaganda have YOU been watching?
cute feet
I'm talking about the comics...
Sure!
Neflix & Jeph Loeb sure as fuck don't...
At least Gabby's America had tolerable art...who did they expect to buy this in PRINT?!?
>She's terribl
-y hawt.
>And her tits are too big.
Go be gay somewhere else.
What? It's cute.
No, not at all.
Scary feet.
mmmnnggghhh perfect ass
PLEASE PATSY SIT ON MY FACE NOW GODDAMNIT SIT ON MY FACE
Scary cute feet?
This has ninety-nine problems, and the art ain't one. Which run did it come from though?
She looks like a member of the Bat-family.
Hmm a bit of sleuthing would seem to suggest that 'Trish' from JJ is more a composite of Carol Danvers and Jessica's adopted sister who was hurriedly renamed and given elements of Hellcat's backstory when the work began on Captain Marvel's own film.
>the art ain't one
Beg to differ.
It's from her most recent run, 'Patsy Walker aka Hellcat'
I don't like it and Im disgusted that this shitty art can become a published comic BUT I understand it. Kids love shitty easy-to-draw art.
To be fair, that particular issue (#6) was a bit more chibiesque/deformed than most of the run.
I can understand the criticism that it makes Patsy look too childlike, but don't think it's a huge problem myself - I actually think it's kinda cute...
