funny how in most shows people in Yea Forums bitch constantly about how bad the animation is, how obvious they used flash or tweening or cheap tricks to make it work.

here we have a product where the whole thing has been Flash and cheap tricks since forever. the only reason we got so many sbemails was because they realized quickly that they don't have to lip sync Strong Bad if his head obscures his reflection. and Strong Bad's entire head is an optical illusion where his mask features are 2-dimensional and just slide around. Homestar has like three frames of head animation and ten frames of leg animation that they've been reusing for the whole time. Literally one voice actor does every character except Marzipan and Doug Teegland.

and yet, when Regular Show came on the air, I thought "this is the palest shitty imitation of Homestar Runner that was ever attempted."

because Homestar Runner perfectly captured what it was like growing up in 1980s suburbia, and what the world looked like to us at the time, where little league games made the concession stand more familiar than any other business, where there were these little fields everywhere that never got built on, the tropes of school and of video games in the floppy disk era. Because it was just a couple of guys dumping their brains into some art. it was exactly as sophisticated as it had to be in order to convey what the authors wanted.

The season pass for all five chapters is still listed for sale on my PS3 store. There's no separate listings for them, though.
