How in the hell has this garnered critical and fan acclaim? It’s legitimate garbage.
How in the hell has this garnered critical and fan acclaim? It’s legitimate garbage
What's garbage about it?
Basically any story dealing with mental health will get pushed as some thought provoking milestone even if the content itself is very surface level. Just look at King's Mister Miracle
I like stories that treat Batman like an asshole that needs to be taken down peg because I'm fucking sick of Batman.
I thought it was alright, nothing amazing but I didn't hate reading it.
It will go down as a classic.
Abhorrent dialogue, unsatisfactory and almost juvenile exploration of socio-political themes, the pacing is a slog, and just a bunch of plot elements that don’t make any sense
Standards for American comics are at an all time low.
Anti-Batfags are more autistic than Batfags, prove me wrong
In the same way Hush is a classic, I guess
T.batfag
>Anti-[anything] are more autistic than [anything], prove me wrong
Fixed because that's what I've noticed being on here for a long time
I'm so pissed people don't appreciate the Dark Prince Charming instead
Sean Gordon Murphy doesn't read books that aren't his wife's literately cuck smut, he doesn't know anything about Batman or storytelling in general
Because comic "critics" are fucking retarded. They're the same people that said America and Doomsday Clock were 9/10 or better.
I stopped reading after Joker's stupidly convoluted plan and Harley started to go by "Neo-Joker"
DC is 9/10, tho.
It's not even a 5/10 at its best
This Guy gets It.
>uncensored harley tits never ever
Fuck you, Batpenis!!!
>How in the hell has this garnered critical and fan acclaim? It’s legitimate garbage.
In Yea Forums.
I agree with you completely, but I am struggling to think of 5 better OGNs or whatever the fuck you want to call them from the past 5 years.
That's one.
I agree to the extent that I have no idea why this thing is hailed as a incredible series. Like shit, I picked up this series because it was marketed as "Joker is the good guy, Batman is the bad guy" when really, that isn't even the case. Batman in this series is pig-headed and misguided, but I wouldn't call him the bad guy. Also Duke really overstayed his welcome when he was going on about how "Ya, Joker lied and shit, but I dont care because he was helping". I mean fuck those political implications, right? I don't know how much of the political talking points are meant to be taken seriously, but the blatant social justice topics are luke warm in terms of quality and understanding.
That being said, I didn't hate it completely. I thought Neo-Joker was a fine antagonist, and actually kinda like the idea there are two Harley's running around. I mean, with her depiction in comics right now, she might as well be a different character. When it starts being a comic with action and investigation, it's not terrible. Not something that I would be super hyped about, but I wouldn't call it garbage.
I hate batwank and even I think this comic was garbage.
>DUDE WHAT IF BATMAN WAS A FASCIST AND JOKER TOOK PILLS TO BE WOKE!
I enjoy that too, but this story didn't earn it. Batman just shouts at people and acts like a cartoonish dickhead for NO RAISIN. Nearly everyone suddenly falls for Joker's charms. The rest of the rogues are just used as fodder. Don't even get me started on the Harley wank.
Murphy doesn't seem like a bad guy, but it's embarrassing how little he knew about Batman lore. Everyone thought he was making a "bold, different" choice in having Jason Todd be the first Robin until he admitted on Twitter he mistook Dick for Jason.
Timmwank
Because critical acclaim is giving to comics that are deemed good by people that dislike comics.
I wasn't even the "real" Harley, wasn't it? There was like 2 Harley.
That's unfair, he clearly has a cursory familiarity with BTAS S1
because white knights like it
Sean Murphy is a decent artist but goddamn is his writing mediocre to just down right cringe inducing. Prior to the release of White Knight I picked up Punk Rock Jesus and they both have that same boring, smarmy tone. He's just one of those guys that needs to stick to drawing.
Yeah, the second Harley was supposed to be a dig at the Nu52/Suicide Skwad version, basically a dumb bimbo, while the original Harley is based off of the DCAU version and is meant to be seen as smart and sympathetic.
Last issue maybe. Joker should have died in that issue. Just let him win. Instead it gave us the most predictable end that amounts to nothing
I found out about this series recently while I was jerking off to Harley Quinn porn. I read the entire summary on its Wikipedia article and was really surprised to see that it was critically acclaimed and beloved. Based off the synopsis alone it comes off as confusing and overly edgy.
>Batman just shouts at people and acts like a cartoonish dickhead for NO RAISIN.
That happens a lot though.
The comparison is dumb anyway because Classic Harley was much more dependent on the Joker but for some reason she is now suddenly this trailblazer who don't need no clown
it was funny how they couldn't rely on their argument that Batman was bad for the city so they had to make up a story about his folks maybe being nazi sympathizers. And then they couldn't even stick with that and made it a paperclip thing.
