Jubilee got crucified and watched Skin die next to her, was depowered on M Day, got manipulated by Night Thrasher's brother along with other M Day depowered mutants from the Morrison run into forming a New Warriors rip-off team, got vampirized, adopted an orphaned Chinese baby, then got her powers back and devampirized by Quentin Quires when he briefly got control over the Phoenix Force.

Jubilee, Magma, Skin, and a bunch of no-name mutants got captured by a Catholic anti-mutant camp lead by a nun who wanted revenge on the Church by way of brainwashing Nightcrawler and installing him as Pope while using an image inducer to make him look human, then killing millions with exploding wafers simulating the rapture and then disable to image inducer, making everyone think Kurt was the Anti-Christ and destroy the Church.

They fucked up their plans though by crucifying said characters and extras in front of the X-Mansion, for reasons. And out of the three named characters, Skin was the only one who died.

Also afterwords, Skin's entire family was evicted from their burial site and had to be rush-cremated because the funeral director had a clause that no family with a mutant could be buried in the cemetery only to find after he forced the X-Men to pay to cremate Skin and his dead family, that Angel had used his newfound healing powers to cure his son's AIDS.

Also, still better than Casey's plans for the resolution of the story: Casey had the Church of Humanity led by an immortal who's best friend was a Demon Bear (but not the Demon Bear from New Mutants) who helped him murder the guy's mom and his step-dad (who was a mutant and helped his mother murder his dad so they could get together) in the late 1800s. And who removed the part of Kurt's mind that loved God, because he wanted to fuck with Kurt for shits and giggles and who ran an anti-mutant murder cult because he was daddy's boy and upset his mom had him killed so she could be with her mutant lover

The original Penance is actually M. The original M was actually Monet's two sisters, Claudette and Nicole, merged into one body. It was revealed that all the St. Croix kids (the three sisters and Emplate) can merge with one another.

The sisters were never seen again to my knowledge, while M is still running around. The two sisters were Penance for awhile, but they were forceably separated, and when that happened the body of Penance was left behind, though there was still a mind inside of it. This person was named Hollow, and popped up in the Loners and Avengers Academy books.
