Today's tale, granted I haven't had much of a chance to actually view it, appears to be a light-hearted episode featuring a kindly old British couple.

How quaint!

...eh? The war? I'm sure all of this is hogwash. Some ambience to put the couple in comedic relief. It was the right time for it, being the 80's and all.

But surely there's no way the author would do anything bad... I mean, this was made by the same guy who made The Snowman!

Attached: RCO008_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 533K)

....oh.

Oh dear.

Attached: RCO009_1560414187.jpg (2044x1392, 1.25M)

...well! Surely that was a fake-out. I'll give the writer some balls for that. Now we're back to the sort of humor that two past-their-time elders can provide.

fuck you

This is much better! Nostalgia for the good old days. I feel a bit more at ease.

I'm fairly certain the rest of the story is going to play out as uneventful and quaint as the setting implies. All this preparation is going to go for naught and everyone will have a hearty chuckle over it.

Attached: RCO013_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 525K)

...huh. We even get a little bit of toilet humor. A bit risque for the time, I suppose. But still..

Attached: RCO014_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 514K)

....yeeeeeaaaaah.

Attached: RCO015_1560414187.jpg (2044x1376, 1.14M)

...okay. I'll admit it, I've been lying to you all this time.

Attached: RCO017_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 500K)

Despite the homely and sweet scenes you're reading now, the truth is... this story turns out horrible. I know it does. I've read it before, and I've seen the cartoon.

Attached: RCO018_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 497K)

As if scenes like this wouldn't tell you enough even if you've never seen this tale before.

Attached: RCO019_1560414187.jpg (2044x1403, 555K)

Thanks for storytiming!

>Well, we survived the last one. We can do it again.

This is simultaneously a heartbreaking and terrifying thought.
It gets even worse when they assume their families are all alive, because "they're smart", when you know for a fact they're almost certainly dead.

...the bags by the way aren't a falsehood. Ever see the Protect and Survive series? It's on Youtube. A part of it shows what you use large bags for... though it says to use them afterwards, and not before.

DAMNIT BITCH GET AWAY FROM THE FUCKING WINDOW

I will say, I liked Jim's outburst in the cartoon better; "COME BACK YOU STUPID BITCH-"

Attached: RCO023_w_1560414187.jpg (1020x1404, 243K)

These pages are not printing errors.

Attached: RCO024_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 106K)

They are the author's personification of a Nuclear Blast.

Attached: RCO025_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 294K)

The cartoon does something entirely different.

Truth be told, I prefer this version far better.

Attached: RCO026_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 368K)

I wish I could lie to you again and say things will only get better from here after the "near-miss".

Attached: RCO027_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 464K)

>everything shakes and everything goes white

Nah, that's fine by my standards

Also good to point out now that the couple is now essentially dead. Surviving that blast was literally pointless.

...Even in the eighties, the concept of Fall-Out wasn't something the common person understood. I doubt many people understand it today.

Attached: RCO028_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 495K)

You cunt i know its going to be fucking miserable and im still reading it. Fuck you

In the hands of a less ballsy author scenes like this page would take up the vast majority of the post-blast setting- assuming they had to balls to follow through with the nuke in the first place- and the couple would get through unscathed.

Attached: RCO029_w_1560414187.jpg (1020x1400, 836K)

Such unbridled optimism.

Attached: RCO030_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 487K)

Kys :(

If people knew little about Fall-Out, they absolutely knew less about Electro Magnetic Pulses.

Still, gotta hand it to the author. This setting makes the phrase "all dead" seem less unsettling that it really would be.

Attached: RCO031_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 542K)

And then the Hulk showed up and saved the old British couple

...okay, the fucking phone is melting and he STILL thought it might work!?

Attached: RCO032_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 536K)

...wait. It feels like we're forgetting something vitally important.

Attached: RCO033_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 515K)

Oh fucking goddammit.

Attached: RCO034_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 504K)

So... two things.

On the lighter note, the JIMILDA on the gate is shorthand for Jim + Hilda(the couple's names if you weren't following).

But on the darker note, you noticed when she said the burning smelled like roast meat?

Attached: RCO035_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 552K)

I will say, it's a bit remarkable that an explosion close enough to melt the road and devastate the surrounding landscape failed to bring down the house.

Then again if the house went the story would've been over a long time ago.

Attached: RCO036_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 541K)

...heh! How typical of a man, even an elderly one.

A bit that got elaborated on in the cartoon.

Attached: RCO037_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 532K)

The cartoon also made the "Russkie" bit a tad funnier, if only because said Russkie reacted to the cup of tea proposal.

...and some unpleasant memories?

Attached: RCO038_w_1560414187.jpg (1020x1404, 856K)

It's not easy to see, but the first cracks are starting to show.

Attached: RCO039_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 568K)

...well, now that things are rapidly turning to shit, it's worth asking; how much do either of them know what's really happening and how much, if any, are they hiding from the other?

Attached: RCO040_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 548K)

...Fuck. Oh fuck.

Who's left in this thread that HASN'T killed themselves yet?

Attached: RCO041_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 536K)

She knows the end is near. There's no other explanation.

Attached: RCO042_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 520K)

But endings in real life are never resolved like in the storybooks. They're more like this.

Attached: RCO043_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 346K)

I'm here.

And this was Where the Wind Blows, a suicide-inducing downer made in a day and age where the morbidity of a Post-Nuclear death was never too far from the public's minds.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to give a shotgun a blowjob.

Attached: RCO001_1560414187.jpg (1021x1403, 338K)

and then iron man found them at the last moment, injected them with extremis 4.0 and they all laughed and waited for this to blow over. jolly good ending.

they died as potatoes
