Why is the LGBT community so under-represented in comics?
Because nobody like gayshit, not even the gays.
It's not but we all know why you made this thread.
They're not, they represent a tiny fraction of the population. It's also worth considering that while representation is nice, it's not an obligation. No one has to put gays in their comics if they don't want to.
Kick starter has almost a larger presence of LGBT it feels like at a cursory glance.
My best buddy is Mexican and gay and while we were talking he brought up the point it was far weirder we don’t have a greater representation of Hispanics in media in general considering they have a much higher population density in the USA then LGBT and African Americans and they will be, by the end of our lives the majority.
Those get pushed way more when statistically from a capitalist stand point you would want to appeal and sell comics to them since there are more of them.
Because most people don't read indie comics. Also isn't that the shitty Dirty Pair ripoff?
Because the Hispanic market is more fractured and they're worried about crossover appeal with non-Hispanic audiences.
being less than 5% of the population means that even if 100% of them would buy the pandering products that would still be less than getting 10% of the normal people instead.
You don’t representation, you want to dominate pop culture and shove your lifestyle in everyone’s face even though people don’t care. This is no longer about feeling confident with your life choices, it’s about attention
part of the reason i liked dc comics more growing up was they had more lgbt characters
A problem of being both not that big of a population, and also BEING very picky about what they like and what is acceptable. Like look at most of the LGBT criticism sites about media and it's very hard to nail down what they want as an audience sometimes.
They also tend to queer code everything anyway into making it about them somehow even with the tiniest of threads so that way creators don't actually have to put that in and somehow piss off audiences who hate that. It's a vicious cycle.
Tapas is feel to the grim with LGBT comics and BL
>and they will be, by the end of our lives the majority.
Keep dreaming, Pedro, demographic trends are already slowing and projections actually have the white population stabilizing in the majority.
You guys will probably continue to eat up black and Asian percentage points, though.
That's because you can't actually appeal to all members of a group. You have to make something that is appealing in general, then add stuff that can further appeal to specific groups while not alienating too many people. It's like fanservice, you actually have to have a project that people give a shit about before you start tossing in boob jiggle and panty shots, and if you lean too hard into the boob jiggle and panty shots you're going to lose audience no matter how appealing your story actually is.
I’m white and I don’t care either way I will be dead.
I want to believe
i agree but the authority is good and so was blue is the warmest colour
Really? You CARED about that growing up? I think you missed the entire fucking point of comics faggot.
These deviants are less than 5% of the human population globally, but they make up least 50% of the twats that riot on social media every day. Virtually none of the sodomites on social media or in the comics industry are better than a German beer house brawler. They are very well represented in comics. They are the classic villains.

Hello, tiny part of the population.
>I'm white
No, you're a faggot
Despite the narrative, there actually aren't that many genuine LGBT people out there.
a large portion of shirtlifters hate that rainbow flag as much as anyone
yeah I also think one big problem is trying to lump everything "queer" together into one group makes it so that no can really be satisfied by something. Gays issues can be very different than lesbian issues.
>pretending to like Kim & Kim.
Looks exactly like these Marvel kids comics which are always canceled
Name ONE lgbt comic that isn't complete trash with bad gay stereotypes triumphing over white men. You cannot.
This too. Part of the discussion is gay or trans in general. But This Specific Comic is shit, and you be better off never seeing it.
Didn’t it win an Eisner?
Going back to fanservice, my actual preferred type of guy is a slightly fem or "faggy" guy, preferably chubby or softboi. Something full of beefcake or bara doesn't do shit for me.
Nominated based upon the writer's identity rather than quality of the book.
nice bait, but Love and Rockets
This comic is awful. I browse it on my LCS to cringe each time I see it.
nah I get that. I worked in a comic shop that handled lgbt books a lot and I could always tell what people where into base on the subs.
