>Thinly veiled REEEEE REFERENCES IN CARTOON BAD! ALL CARTOONS SHOULD BE ABOUT GREY BLOBS PLAYING OUTSIDE, REEEEEEEE thread
t. looks up anime references on twitter in his spare time
The references in Anamaniacs and Resident Evil are good because you don't need to get them to enjoy them
I remember finding them funny due to having a vague idea who some of them were even at 9 or 10 years old. Others, whom I had no clue about at the time, were just funny on their own for how wacky they were. Froynlaven for example.
Like, I hadn't actually seen Goodfellas, but I knew who Joe Pesci was, and I knew a lot of gags were references. So it was amusing to me, like a kid version of pop culture I had at least passing knowledge of. I guess it also helps that I was American and my family wasn't too poor to own a television and rent movies years before this aired.
Yeah my dad did like Michelangelo painting the sistine chapel and "go away mister clown, you scare me!"
Also the Apocalypse Now parody
>implying my parents watched cartoons with me instead of taunting me about not reading books instead.
sort of this
my parents never minded me watching cartoons, but they would rather stick a fork in their eyes instead of having to watch anything remotely related to animation.
My mom only watched Rocko's Modern Life with me.
I still quote the Anvilania anthem to this day.Fuck you
