Where can I find some good webcomics that are currently running? also any better place to discuss webcomics than here, or just literally anywhere that isn't here really

First tell me your personal definition of good.

Also, please rigorously define "webcomics" and "currently running"

Not him, but personally, anything funny and/or, if with a long running story arc or world building, is decent at it instead of being lorebait
>webcomics
Any artform with predominantly visual based storytelling (exceptions made for better ones), presented mostly gratis and most probably on a webpage.
>currently running
Any webcomic with authors that haven't went fully mia, and if on a hiatus, would with any reasonable possibility, stated or assumed, continue to work on the webcomic in the future. Empty promises, like the ones made for camp weedonwantcha don't count.

Well tell me if you've already gotten into any of these
Unsounded
SSSS
Gunnerkrigg

Those are probably the most reliable webcomics I can think of with creators that have consistent schedules and clear communication of breaks or pauses

Stonetoss

I thought Camp Weedonwantcha was finished

Or am I missing something

Are you the type who just goes "fetishshit" and drops a comic when you realize it's the author's magical realm?
Because I think a lot of good comics are their creators' magical realms since they're actually passionate about the content they are creating.

What about art quality? Are you the type who needs the art to be up to a certain standard to be willing to read it regardless of how good the story is?

What about being able to not give a fuck about the creator's social media feeds and actually only care about the comic they create if none of that shit spills into it?

Lackadaisy

seconding and adding:
- Vattu
- Chris Baldwin's SpaceTrawler - reliable, comedy drama space opera
- Cochlea and Eustachia, surreal, attractive characters, may not have a plot, suffers hiatuses

Fetishshit and "author's magical realm" are complete opposites.
And you have that backwards.
Every literal faggot who writes a webcomic has 20-50 pages of backstory and world building, tricking you into thinking it has an actual plot, and then its nothing but sodomy faggot shit after that.

SSSS mostly, and a bit of unsounded; gunnerkrigg seems pretty unappealing to me. Honestly I don't care about breaks that much anymore, especially after following oots and others for a while now
The author is doing something else now and the story's wrapped up at a nice place, she might come back to it but that seems like a plan b at this point
No, the fuck? I'm actually curious, how did you get this from my post?
I couldn't care less about how the art looks personally, and that's the main point of contention when I look for recommendations on Yea Forums
It's a red flag, but I don't drop the comic until it truly goes off the rails. Already did the same with paranatural and others

I'll check these out, thanks
The same bait and switch happens with cartoons too

I'm trying to get a feel for your definition of "good".
And those three points are the things I see most often complained about when it comes to webcomics (aside from author abandonment anyway).

what makes nedriod so charming? Its like he makes such absurd type humor that can make anyone laugh.

Makes sense. But I don't think people complain about self inserts necessarily, it seems like more of a point of ridicule to me.

It doesn't take itself seriously

SSSS and K6BD are pretty much the only ones that actually feel like they're going anywhere and haven't spent nearly a decade on the fucking prologue because the writers do have some basic idea of how to progress a story line.

yeah any one can do that though. It takes some sort of hidden charm that makes you respect his humble nature.

I didn't mean self inserts by magical realm. I meant it more that you can eventually figure out just by reading the work that the you're reading what the creator gets off to.

In some ways I actually find that charming if done well. Probably because most comics feel too dispassionate as of late.
Like you can just tell the person making the comic really enjoys making it, it just feels like it comes out better when that happens.

thisIf your are going to do the "not taking yourself seriously" thing you at least need skill worth not taking seriously.

>In some ways I actually find that charming if done well.
Yep. In quality works, the self insert character is usually better than the others, if at least narrative wise. It's the character they're most qualified in writing.

I'm but thought I'd add, also for :
- Widdershins, light magic set in pre-Victorian Britain, story arc based, regular updates
- Pepper and Carrot, simple complete story each update, like a modern Melusine
>better place to discuss webcomics
some discords? The Webcomic Relief discord has channels for various aspects of webcomic critique that are quite active.
The Gunnerkrigg discord has an other-comics channel but only a couple a posts a week, last mentioned was Sleepless Domain by Mary Cagle (which I don't read but many have said good things about).

not for nothing but what is that skill though?

Martian Magazine
Stonetoss
Kill Six Billion Demons
Riceboy
Drugs and Wires

Actual comedic skill.

I wish it was something to acquire, seems like you have it or not.

I'd say Lackadaisy, but the schedule is a bit odd

It is possible to acquire but not a sure thing. Some people can work their whole lives for it and get nothing others need that effort to perfect their craft.

I just bookmark these threads in a large folder and skim through them after some months.

Sakana is just nice and I suggest it

sakana's kinda boring though
it's a slow burn bordering on slog with no actual content

Daughter of the Lilies, if Meg is over her mental breakdown

It's complete hearsay, but I'm told Witchway's Witch is a really fun webcomic that you can read at witchwayswitch.com

Attached: 05-page.png (940x1424, 606K)

looks like it, at least for now. Honestly, you can never know with artists.

Define lorebait.
"Swords" has some interesting elf/orc designs but its not exactly deep.

I guess I ought to put the disclaimer that DoTL is basically undisguised Christian fantasy

Implied lore that the author can't or won't follow up on. Basically a scam waiting to be exposed.

Forming is kinda cool
The writing is not that much but I really like jmoyns artstyle

Awkward Zombie and Oglaf are good gag comics
K6BD and Devil's Candy are good narrative comics
All offer something a little different

4S is slow as fuck.

slow but steady

>also any better place to discuss webcomics than here
8/co/

>8/co/ previously
>everyone banned for no reason
>8/co/ now
>dead board because everyone got sick of the tranny janny

Smackjeeves

>Awkward Zombie and Oglaf are good gag comics
>K6BD and Devil's Candy are good narrative comics
Is this how low the standards of a good webcomic are? Jesus.
