I feel like the two mediums have enough of a pedigree to stand as two independent topics. Also, one could imagine that it'd be odd to have people who want to talk about Superman or Spider-man on the same space as those who want to shit post about Steven Universe and Star vs the forces of evil.
With that being said, how does My Little Pony and Pokemon get their own space? What makes them so special to justify an entire board just for each of them?
Anime is just Chinese cartoons. Why do they have a separate board?

>With that being said, how does My Little Pony and Pokemon get their own space? What makes them so special to justify an entire board just for each of them?
Short answer; Containment boards
Long answer; You had to be there on Yea Forums and Yea Forums before those boards were created to really understand
Nathaniel Mitchell
It's like a books and movies board
Easton Cooper
>Containment boards >You had to be there on Yea Forums and Yea Forums before those boards were created to really understand
You mean to tell me that fanatics were so uncontrollable that the Admins/Mods had to separate them? Hell, I'm impressed. It must have been quite a mess back then.
Wyatt Bell
This place is a heartbeat away from being a Cape Movie board
And the ponies in costume pics. Any discussion of any kind was going to be bombarded with pics of ponies in costumes from whatever the topic is to pony versions of the topic. Dr Doom thread, filled with 20-30 pics of Doom Pony. Frozen thread, filled with 90-150 Elsa and Anna ponies. People got fucking sick of the damn fan artists flooding every single thread everywhere.

>tfw Pony is ending Is time to go out with a bang

To be fair, the amount of people on here who know nothing about comics and then get called on their shit and try to dodge by saying things like "No one gives a shit about comics!" or changing the subject is becoming so common that there may as well be a board split. Animation fans who've had to put up with the same scenario but reversed probably feel the same way too.
Lurk more faggot, we've been over this a million times. Neither topic is big enough to warrant seperate boards, despite what a shitposting minority says.
>porkyman Dunno, didn't frequent Yea Forums during that period. >pony A handful of a shitposters discovered that pictures of tiny colorful horses can make people mad. Naturally this lead to more and more shitposters joining in and eventually a containment board was created because fuck the people that just wanted to talk about the show.
People just consider it the western equivalent and think they gotta be matched like anime and manga, honestly it’s a little weird but it works for us.
Liam Nguyen
>Neither topic is big enough to warrant seperate boards Have you seen some of the other boards we have on Yea Forums that barely get any traffick?
Jose Smith
To be fair I'd wager a lot of those cunts are just Yea Forums tourists who've found a second home to shitpost and wank themselves dry over RottenTomatoes in. But I do agree, a board split is more than warranted. I come here purely for the comics side of things myself and wish there was a slower board to discuss things that would otherwise not last a few hours here between the autismal preschool cartoon worshipping, lewdthreads and live-action company war shitflinging
EVERY thread on Yea Forums at the height of the ponies had about a 50-50 chance of being derailed into either pony discussion or people sperging that they were tired of threads being derailed by ponies. And it wasn't just Yea Forums. Yea Forums was taken over and every board was having "stealth" pony threads being made constantly.
Pokemon wasn't nearly as bad, but Yea Forums is already an extremely crowded board, so Pokemon hype season would spawn so many threads so consistently that it made other threads even harder to keep up.
Ian Young
>Neither topic is big enough to warrant separate boards, despite what a shitposting minority says.
Really? Dude, comics have been around for decades and have a freaking TORRENT of things that could be discussed. Same could be said of cartoons.
Xavier Gomez
What's wrong with having a slow board though? They get on just fine. And you can't deny that there's enough to be discussed with literally hundreds of new comics released every month, and that's just the American side of things
Jacob Morgan
Especially since discussions on comic book-based movies dominate this board a lot.
Jayden Ross
I could understand that to a degree
Joshua Martinez
Yea Forums was made back when Yea Forums was still primarily anime focused, so a "western Yea Forums" board made sense at the time. It's just kept that way because the mods don't care enough to split the board.
Eli Sanchez
You seem to have missed a memo. We only talk about waifus and things we hate here. Why do you think threads about actually good comics like The Goon are so damn rare? inb4 >b-but big2 is good No it's not. 99% of big2 comics are shit, specifically because 'murrica writers aren't allowed to write stories that actually ends. Then add the fact that a lot of current writers think soapboxing qualifies as proper writing, and you have a recipe for awfulness.
The only good thing about Slow is that it would take a lot longer for storytimes to die, but there's still only so much room in the catalog. If you reply to a week old post, the chance you'll actually get a reply from that specific user is next to non existant.
Hudson Morgan
Even without Pokemon, Yea Forums is still absolute disaster.
Michael Martin
You must realize that not all cartoons are for preschoolers. In fact, preschool cartoons can earn you a "are you underage" from an user. Especially autistic posts about them. But I mostly agree with your statement, and you are right.
Levi Butler
>Containment boards I honestly think Yea Forums needs a Star Wars board. Like a third of Yea Forums threads at any time are Star Wars shitposting
Kevin Bailey
Only when there is a big Star Wars winter, which there is one hell of a blizzard coming this year.
Angel Bell
>If you reply to a week old post, the chance you'll actually get a reply from that specific user is next to non existant.
You don't give the smaller boards enough credit. /toy/ managed to keep a thread going for longer than a year (ofc that's a rarity, but you'd be surprised at how long-form threads evolve)
Yeah I dunno how you'd even go about saving it at this stage, if there's even anything left to salvage
I was exaggerrating of course, but I do find it weird how fixated people get on things like Talking Tom
Agreed, there's enough content every year to justify it between the conveyor belt of movies, games, comics and merch. Yea Forums is in the fucking pits right now and the first step to saving it is to do something about its major outliers like SW and capeshit
