Why is this board Comics AND Cartoons?
I feel like the two mediums have enough of a pedigree to stand as two independent topics. Also, one could imagine that it'd be odd to have people who want to talk about Superman or Spider-man on the same space as those who want to shit post about Steven Universe and Star vs the forces of evil.
With that being said, how does My Little Pony and Pokemon get their own space? What makes them so special to justify an entire board just for each of them?
Anime is just Chinese cartoons. Why do they have a separate board?

And the ponies in costume pics. Any discussion of any kind was going to be bombarded with pics of ponies in costumes from whatever the topic is to pony versions of the topic. Dr Doom thread, filled with 20-30 pics of Doom Pony. Frozen thread, filled with 90-150 Elsa and Anna ponies. People got fucking sick of the damn fan artists flooding every single thread everywhere.

To be fair, the amount of people on here who know nothing about comics and then get called on their shit and try to dodge by saying things like "No one gives a shit about comics!" or changing the subject is becoming so common that there may as well be a board split. A handful of a shitposters discovered that pictures of tiny colorful horses can make people mad. Naturally this lead to more and more shitposters joining in and eventually a containment board was created because fuck the people that just wanted to talk about the show.
People just consider it the western equivalent and think they gotta be matched like anime and manga, honestly it’s a little weird but it works for us.

To be fair I'd wager a lot of those cunts are just Yea Forums tourists who've found a second home to shitpost and wank themselves dry over RottenTomatoes in. But I do agree, a board split is more than warranted. I come here purely for the comics side of things myself and wish there was a slower board to discuss things that would otherwise not last a few hours here between the autismal preschool cartoon worshipping, lewdthreads and live-action company war shitflinging
Those boards happen to be ghosttowns due to boardsplits or being dedicated to something superniché that's not a hot topic anymore.
EVERY thread on Yea Forums at the height of the ponies had about a 50-50 chance of being derailed into either pony discussion or people sperging that they were tired of threads being derailed by ponies. And it wasn't just Yea Forums. Yea Forums was taken over and every board was having "stealth" pony threads being made constantly.
Pokemon wasn't nearly as bad, but Yea Forums is already an extremely crowded board, so Pokemon hype season would spawn so many threads so consistently that it made other threads even harder to keep up.

Really? Dude, comics have been around for decades and have a freaking TORRENT of things that could be discussed. Same could be said of cartoons.
What's wrong with having a slow board though? They get on just fine. And you can't deny that there's enough to be discussed with literally hundreds of new comics released every month, and that's just the American side of things
Especially since discussions on comic book-based movies dominate this board a lot.

Yea Forums was made back when Yea Forums was still primarily anime focused, so a "western Yea Forums" board made sense at the time. It's just kept that way because the mods don't care enough to split the board.

No it's not. 99% of big2 comics are shit, specifically because 'murrica writers aren't allowed to write stories that actually ends. Then add the fact that a lot of current writers think soapboxing qualifies as proper writing, and you have a recipe for awfulness.
The only good thing about Slow is that it would take a lot longer for storytimes to die, but there's still only so much room in the catalog. If you reply to a week old post, the chance you'll actually get a reply from that specific user is next to non existant.

You must realize that not all cartoons are for preschoolers. In fact, preschool cartoons can earn you a "are you underage" from an user. Especially autistic posts about them.

Agreed, there's enough content every year to justify it between the conveyor belt of movies, games, comics and merch. Yea Forums is in the fucking pits right now and the first step to saving it is to do something about its major outliers like SW and capeshit
