I've been reading comics for over twenty-five years and I have no idea what Mr. Sinisters powers are.

He's the prototypical mutant. He can do... things.

Telekinesis. Apocalypse gave him telekinesis.
His powers aren't always important much or at all though because he moves the plot along with his genetic experiments.

Irrelevant to what? It's not like there's any modern Marvel arc worth reading where Mr Sinister is an irrelevant distraction.

I just think the word "irrelevant" implies there's some storyline going on right now where something else is irrelevant to it. And I disagree with that because nu-Marvel is crap and has no storylines worth following right now.

i am going to have to agree with you there. ive only just started reading marvel again when wolverine came back. and i dont mean came back to life, but started being in xmen comics again. its not the same though, i dont know if i will keep up with them anymore

He was extremely important to Age of Apocalypse which, while you can argue the quality of, it is certainly relevant/memorable.

I sorta have the same problem with him, also Apocalypse and Thanos, to name a few. Even Selene to a degree. At some point they just go with "uh this guy is a really powerful stage boss type, he just does a lot of stuff, don't think too much about it". In the end they just tank attacks, resist telepathy and fire one type of blasts a lot.

Eh they're sorta rebooting anyway, with a shit writer too, good dropping out point.

before i looked it up i always assumed he was just a crazy Doctor Monroe type that did experiments on others and himself and pretty much gave himself powers like immortality and super human physical abilities, i looked it up and got these, totally forgot about some of them since last i saw him was 90s Xmen cartoon i think. These are his powers.

Technically not a mutant, but yes. They're even both students of the same inhuman geneticist.

he was originally supposed to be a literal child who had the power to to bend reality to however he wanted and because he was a child he made him self into a caricature of what a villain would look like

Not him but yep, and Gambit was supposed to be an adult clone of him that he sent to infiltrate the X-Men but wound up getting sidetracked by an insatiable desire to bone Storm, which lead to a conflict of interest between the two, doubly so because the child-Sinister also really wanted to bone Storm.

Nah, he's a human that just got really into genetics and studying mutants, then jacked himself up with a bunch of mutant genes with some help from Apocalypse. He wasn't born with an x-gene, so not technically a mutant.

And this is why people don't read comics.

He knows how to surgically extract and implant mutant powers. So he technically could have any power, he just needs to find a mutant with it and get it from them.

Outside of that he also has some nifty celestial armor that makes him strong and stuff

I took him to be a toned down version of Apocalypse

He is strong and durable, but not as much as Apocalypse
He can morph his body, but cannot do the technology morphing of Apocalypse
He is good at genetically engineering, but also not as good as Apocalypse

Apocalypse just trained him wrong, as a joke.

Mr. Sinister's power set:

Effectively his powers are being a Mystery Box that Claremont assumed he alone was going to open and self-destructed once a writer who couldn't and didn't want to read his mind took over.

Evolutionary has the worst record of no writer being able to keep up with what his powers are and constantly changing them. Half the time it's just his armor that has all the abilities. Other times he is just a strong guy, sometimes he has different powers based on how he evolved that specific body since the last time he died.

Sinister is in the same spot, no two writers know what he is about. He started life as a reality warper, then was one of those guys that had every psychic power, now he is just a weird mix of engineered powers to cover all bases so he can do his one man fights against teams.

Are psychics good at anything but jobbing?
