So how do you feel about speech quirks? Giving characters a distinctive manner of speaking can be a good way to make them stand out, but it can also be gimmicky and dumb. Do you find that it usually works out fine, or is it more often than not just annoying?

We don't know the really story yet. There have been people talking to THR and Business Insider (anonymous sources), and it sounds like a few executives saw footage and hated it.
Allegedly, they wanted more of a police procedural, or something like a CW production. Like, imagine what they did to Lucifer, but applied to Swamp Thing.
One of the industry magazines even mentioned that they hired an action director to produce some of it, hoping to turn it into a police show, but then he went full horror on it.
Another theory is that AT&T just installed a new guy for their streaming, and he's swinging his dick around and cancelling stuff.
