Could've been worse.
Anyway, I never read the MiB comics. Are they good?

>Anyway, I never read the MiB comics. Are they good?
They're largely very different and the movies are better. Kind of like Red.

Attached: 268x0w.png (268x402, 213K)

Yeah, they're good, but so tremendously different from the movie/cartoon version that you have to view them as a completely separate thing. The MiB mostly fight supernatural stuff like werewolves, Jay is a white guy, and Kay is an evil bastard who fucks with his memories for his own nefarious purposes.

I can’t believe a series with one good movie got another bad sequel. This only happens every other month.

this gonna be next Venom movie isn't it

>The MiB mostly fight supernatural stuff like werewolves
What?
>Jay is a white guy
Huh?
>Kay is an evil bastard who fucks with his memories for his own nefarious purposes.
Jesus, when did the alien idea come from anyway? MiB seems a lot like Shadowpact.

This

Like all good Yea Forums retards we wait for Yea Forums to decide what a good movie is because things like box office, reviews, and awards are meaningless

>No J
>No K
>No L
This was NEVER going to work.

how dare critics like well-liked movies and franchises and dislike my trash kino!

Sony's Ghostbusters reboot and their MIB reboot both have the same thing in common: Chris Hemsworth. Maybe he's just REALLY bad at comedy and they should strop trying to push him as a funny man?

Yeah the same critics that thought godzilla was because there were to many monster fights.
kys

These are the same people who bitch that Godzilla didn't have a super engaging human plot and that wwe fights with giant monsters is bad.

Yes, arguably the only good thing about Fembsuters was why it flopped, that's definitely it and not that the script was a fucking atrocity.

Nigga he's great at doing comedy ever since Thor Ragnorak

Is Hemsworth even in anything good outside of MCU

The original choice for J was Chris O'Donnell

Critics aren't one entity trying to make you dislike movies, and most critics disliked everything that wasn't kaiju battles from that movie.

>the only good thing about Fembsuters
Are you braindead? Do you really think his "lol so random" shit was funny? Putting his hands over his ears when told to close his eyes or just saying and doing non sequitors through the whole film?

You must have a double digit IQ if you thought he was funny.

>Is Hemsworth even in anything good outside of MCU

Cabin in the Woods, I guess. But the role of "hunky jock" in a horror parody/deconstruction movie wasn't particularly challenging and you'd forget he was even in the thing.

It's actually a really interesting thing how none of the MCU cast have had much luck outside the MCU aside from Pratt with Jurassic World but that's going to be ending soon

To the surprise of absolutely nobody.

He was the least awful thing about the movie, didn't say he was good.

...

Sort of like Star Wars, where only Harrison Ford went on to have a successful film career and everyone else either dropped off the face of the earth or had so many flops they had to move into other avenues of entertainment (Fisher becoming a producer, Hamill becoming a voice actor).

The Men In Black were created by an Illuminati group to ensure the common an never learned of the supernatural. The fight conspiracies, cults, cryptically, demons, ghosts and aliens with conventional weapons. Also, J discovers the MIB is trying to take over the World.

At least Based Sony has the balls to let the reviews go out unlike the worst studio on earth

>Robin as J
That would've been really weird.
Sounds really different. It's like the Mask all over again. Why do some film companies try to distance themselves from the source material in the 90s?

youtu.be/BUJxIqc1Jsw

>Why do some film companies try to distance themselves from the source material in the 90s?

Sony has deliberately prevented the original MIB comics from being reprinted ever since the first movie came out specifically because they want to keep any conflicting interpretations of the brand out of circulation.

I liked Rush and 12 Strong. Just checked his wiki and he's going to be in the new Jay and Silent Bob movie.

>trust elites
>they know what you want and have your best interests at heart

Hey what effect is this? I want to use that in a project.

>Sony has deliberately prevented the original MIB comics from being reprinted ever since the first movie came out specifically because they want to keep any conflicting interpretations of the brand out of circulation.
God damn that is just evil.

go woke go broke isn´t just the case for comics it seems.
I wonder if hollywood will act like marvel and dc and refuse to change until they are close to bankruptcy as well

Stop pretending ratings on rotten tomatoes means anything, they already came out and said the purposefully change and delete ratings to avoid "trolling".

yeah I'm sure
>Men in Black International
starring... Hemsworth and Thompson... will surprise us with how good it actually is

Attached: CDI4HUaWIAAxqFy.jpg (604x378, 64K)

Probably just an early case of "IT'S A BRAND IT'S GOT APPEAL" so basically someone pitches the movie and then they say "we'll take the name but everything else is too dark." and they rework it to something more palatable.

OH SNAP!

Can they actually do that? How is the comic creator's ok with that? Was it on their contract or something?

Only these stupid producers today would think that would be a good idea.

>"we'll take the name but everything else is too dark." and they rework it to something more palatable.
Are there any movies that do stuff like this? Outside of the Mask and MCU, I haven't seen anything like that in a while.

Well the problem is that if you want 2/3ths of your B-movie movie to be human drama it better be good and engaging.
It's kinda the same argument I've seen from people that defend BvS "superhero movies don't need good plots or good acting it's a westling show not an artfilm" when the movie tried to do human drama and philosophical debates about super powered beings and took itself seriously and the WWE parts only last like 20 minutes out of a 3 hour film.

The Men in Black are a boring concept anyways.

I mean, who even wants to live in the MiB universe? Even if you are a MiB agent, your job is to keep humanity from space aliens/useful technology and making sure humanity doesn’t advance and remains stagnant while protecting and hiding dangerous aliens. Not to mention that even if you do end up doing something good, no one will ever know about it.

At least in the MCU you can be a hero that saves the day and everyone knows about it. And you can make technology to help mankind and actually affect things.

Attached: Screenshot_20190612-105350_Chrome.jpg (1076x389, 67K)

Ok, I think I'll watch it now.

Do movies really suck now? OR has everyone become ten times pickier about their entertainment? Some amazing beloved movies from 2004 kind of suck a lot but people never seem to care.

>Well the problem is that if you want 2/3ths of your B-movie movie to be human drama
Last time they whined about too much human drama.

MIB as well.
Arguably Hellboy
Arguably Spawn
LoEG
There's a ton of third party comics I know I'm missing
But they don't.
Has the MCU ever had a tangible technological change? Everything

>Relying on likely out-of-touch critics with crap taste.

Attached: What a dumbass.gif (346x261, 1.49M)

Everyone's picky and jaded, as if they have to channel CinemaSins everytime they see a movie, it's popular to complain and joke about how bad something looks, and keep what you enjoy a secret

Movies in general are mass consumption garbage.

Hi laddersperg you foot fetishist obsessed with RLM.

Woke2Broke

Did anyone think this wasn't going to be a complete shitshow?

I don’t get that. They were only like 5 in the movie. It was once again mostly the puny humans

>MiB not Yea Forums
Fuck off.
>Thor 4 not Yea Forums
Fuck off.

I'm glad we have this weird crossover...

Heart of the Sea

People who feel obligated to root for any comic book/sci-fi/fantasy movie that "isn't Disney".
A sad lot of individuals.

cba to look it up myself, but don't all MiB movies have pretty shitty ratings? I mean I expected this one to be worse than any of the first three, but I also didn't expect it to be rated well at all

Everything that wasn't CGI monsters biting on one another was painful to sit through in KotM.
And that was 2/3rds of the movie, unfortunately.

Why the fuck is this on Yea Forums?

those complaints got me excited to see the movie, but then there was too much human shit and not enough monster fights

>The Men in Black (comics) The Men in Black is an American comic book created and written by Lowell Cunningham, illustrated by Sandy Carruthers, and originally published by Aircel Comics. Aircel would later be bought out by Malibu Comics, which itself was bought out by Marvel Comics.

Attached: Rage Gamer.gif (500x281, 991K)

>Audience score for Dark PhoeniX: 64%

Anyone who's STILL willing to sit through an X-Men movie with the cast of Apocalypse has an unbelievable tolerance for shitty moviemaking.
It's not like 64% of humanity liked it, 64% of people still willing to give it a chance liked it.

This is not based on the comic. This is a live action movie based on a live action movie. So anything that has ever had a Yea Forums adaptation is fair game then? Cool let’s start posting wrestling generals. And we can start posting about Football games and Hot Wheels products too! Wow, by your logic, pretty much everything ever made should be allowe in Yea Forums! Neat.

Go back to fucking Yea Forums and stop trying to ruin another board, you fucking faggot.

>Can they actually do that? How is the comic creator's ok with that? Was it on their contract or something?

Sony bought the rights to Men in Black from the creator; they own it, not him. Technically, if he wanted to reprint his original comics, he could, but he'd have to get Sony's permission to do so. And they aren't giving it.

Disney is the same way with Gary K. Wolfe and the novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit? They bought the rights to Roger Rabbit, including the novel, from Wolfe. They have never allowed him to reprint it and he can't do anything about it.

no one ever asked for a MIB sequel. They were a product of the early 2000s.

Agreed.
They should've just cut out most the human elements except Monarch being there for exposition on what's going down and Ken sacrificing himself.
And worse yet they really overused the whole "from the perspective of humans" angle during the fights. Like we only need those shots sparingly to remindd us not be constant. It made things confusing when they kept cutting around.
Late 90s. Early 2000s had MiB2 which was the worst one.

Who lined your panties with sandpaper? Both movies come from fucking comics. These are not movies that inspired comics, we talk about adaptations all the time. Go rage on /r9k/ or some containment board.

well some of them do smaller stuff (and some like Tom Holland seem to be having success)

dont forget Disney with Big Hero 6

But that's predicated on the belief that the 23% critic score is, in fact, correct.

Whoops, meant to reply to

It's important when a woke movie has a bad critic score. Means even the paid shills hate it.

youtube.com/watch?v=mVAePIyC4kQ

>woke movie
If you're talking about all the hubbub around Valkyrie finding the MIB it's only because they didn't neuralyze her and she became obsessed with them. She didn't just luck into it because she's a black woman like J did.

I watched fembusters on tv a few months ago, Hemsworth was one of the better things about it.

And this is how the MCU kills your career.

Still to high.

I don't think you quite grasp the function of a "paid shill".

OH SNAP

Holy shit, your blood pressure must be through the roof right now.

>Think what your betters tell you to think, you are incapable of making your own decisions

Seriously though, I would have expected higher critic score for how many boxes this movies trailer checked. Guess the creators didn't kiss enough ass and the critics were told to give it a bad score.

That's still incredibly Mary Sue-ish for her character to somehow avoid being neuralized like her parents like the MiB are the laziest secret agents in the world. Moreso that she somehow tracked them down because of this, got into their organization instead of neuralized, & was sent on an important world trotting mission all within a short amount of time.

Then there's Thor guys "women in black" line.

>Maybe he's just REALLY bad at comedy and
No, just like any other MCU "actor" he is just bad. All MCU stars are tv-tier and can't act for shit. That's why almost every movie with them outside of MCU flops. Exceptions are actors who was in an actual movies before mouseverse.

MIB started out as a comic book, user.
