Artwork is nice.
does Maleev just trace and then do random watercolors or is it bad on purpose
what if Leviathan is the Hood
Happened, happened, happened. Christ, Bendis.
This feels like a more boring Secret Empire.
>Roy's back already
>Did he who gave you
Bendis officially has no editors.
How convenient that Leviathan only destroyed the fictional government organizations and not any real ones like the CIA, NSA, Mossad, etc.
Also, why destroy Kobra too? They're not an intelligence agency, they're a TERRORIST organization, doesn't fit the same pattern as the rest but nobody points that out.
that's a pretty illustration
At least it is better than Tom King’s Batman.
>Or you get shot for treason
Does Bendis not know what treason is?
why not the Phoenix project? oh because MacGyver would fuck him up
Why the hell would anybody suspect Lois Fucking Lane of being the leader of a terrorist organization?
That would be random
I didn't hate it. It was okay.
>Attacks planned to trigger those left behind to TURN on each other. To accuse.
Only because you people are all fucking idiots.
NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED
Seriously, I can't believe it, nothing happened. All this issue did was exposit on things we already know, ask questions we had already been asking, and answer nothing while providing no new clues about Leviathan or what the fuck he wants.
Why you saved him? Kill him like the rest of people of that building.
Thanks for the storytime Norrin...even though nothing happened.
user, none of them died, they were all teleported away so that Leviathan could give them his THE WORLD DOESN'T WORK AND I'M GOING TO MAKE IT BETTER pitch.
Yeah but that's not saying much.
I guess that Batman, Lois, and Green Arrow have teamed up and are assembling the ultimate detective team or whatever, but that could have easily been done in a lot less pages.
What is with Bendis and his board clearing obsession? Is it the only way he knows how to make a big change?
Other than Disassembled, which was 15 years ago, when has he "cleared the board" before?
I thought this was a Superman event? Gotta get those Batman sales I guess
It's just the first issue. Calm down.
Nah, it was an event that Bendis set up in Superman because that's the book he was writing, even though the story didn't thematically fit Superman.
No more Mutants which was the coda to Disassembled.
Compare this to the first issue of any event. There is always an inciting incident in the first issue, a big thing that happens.
Here, the big thing has already happened and it's a whole issue of people talking about it and doing nothing.
truly the shakespeare of our time
It was actually the coda to House of M, and in reality that was an editorial mandate by Quesada who had it in his head that there were too many mutants. Bendis wasn't writing the X-Books at the time so he'd have no reason to clear the board for himself.
What in the actual fuck Steve? When Clark catches wind of this you're dead...and you're bound to spend some days in the doghouse with Diana too
Shit book.
>It's just the first issue.
That's not a good excuse anymore. He's got this AND the Superman Leviathan book. And his past performance on events is not really giving much confidence here.
>I know a great deal about her than I am not letting on.
How the fuck did this sentence see print?
cant someone tell me what the f***** is this comic about
Fucking this, he had his entire Action Comics run and that one-shot last week to set up this event, and he spends an entire issue just recapping everything.
Say what you will about War of the Realms, but can you imagine if the first issue had just been Thor and Jane talking about everything Malekith had been doing the past few years and talking about how they need to stop him?
3/10 Because this is complete utter fucking nonsense. What a fucking disgrace.
This story literally started out because some editor at DC thought that there were too many "redundant" clandestine organizations in the DCU, and Bendis then pitched an idea to get rid of the excess ones.
So this guy called Leviathan is blowing it all up and keeps telling everyone that the world doesn't work and he's going to make it better somehow, all while bragging about how awesome he is for not being like other villains.
Good art, garbage writing.
Every Bendis' book in a nutshell, makes me want to puke for the incredible waste of talent.
>This is
>without ego
What does that even mean?
>this whole page
Shit's giving me brain damage
What's wrong with that particular page?
>CIA, NSA, Mossad
>real
You poor fool.
>"how are you able to make yourself invisible to my radar detection?"
>"true story batman..."
also
>"...we make a counter-thing. you know, just in case."
>"hi colonel trevor"
it just drones on, really. It sounds like the first of an amateur, not really getting to a point. The worst part is the constant interruptions that seem to go on in it.
Someone out of his mind with shock?
"Imagine all the people, living for today..."
Holy Marduk, you kids...
My guess is that Bendis thinks that Kobra is just like Hydra, so he assumes that they're involved with intelligence agencies as well.
What's wrong with those valid criticisms of Bendis' work?
>Holy Marduk, you kids...
Bendis pls..
calm the fuck down, autistic fag. It's the first issue
Two pages in and this is already awful. Why are they talking like this?
>calm the fuck down, autistic fag. It's the first issue
Bendis is still shit.
you drooling Bendisfag mongoloid.
Why is DC doing this? I don’t understand. Things were going so well and then Bendis comes and fucks everything. Someone explain to me what the fuck is going on
Bendis' sales have been dropping for a while now. DC hasn't said anything on it yet, but things aren't looking good on that end.
I hate this issue. I didn't know who Bendis was until after I read it and checked some threads, so apparently he's notorious for making bad comics. Wasted $4 for this shit.
bendis getting shit on?
good
What's with Bendis's obsession with spy organizations, anyway? He kept inserting SHIELD into every book he wrote at Marvel, and near the end of his time there when SHIELD had been disbanded, he STILL took the time to have everyone bring up SHIELD and how much it sucks that it was gone.
This feels like it was written by an A.I.
Like someone just plugged in a prompt and a computer shat out an entire comic based on the thousands of comics its processed.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one who thought this was shit.
Eurofag here. Isnt it "You'll get shot for treason" instead of you get shot for treason?
So this whole thing is the Janus Directive 2.0?
>f*****
Eh? It isn't 'fuck', so what could it be?...
It's fine.
Stay off of Yea Forums, Mossad.
Let's see, in the Superman special Clark took Talia to prison and in this issue it seems that neither Batman nor Lois know where Talia is although I think Batman knows and is hiding it. Something happens there. There's no way Clark did not tell his wife and Batman about this.
i thought it was only me. either they didn't want to fill up the page with word bubbles or someones asleep at the wheel especially the dialogue between lois and bruce or is it Trevor and bruce about talia
>they didn't want to fill up the page with word bubbles
If that were an issue they'd never have hired Uncle Fester in the first place, senpai.
>he spends an entire issue just recapping everything
So ... just like King's last Batman issue?
well lex has a big ego and would want the world to know what he did. but this guy doesn't. and since they're both thinking the same thing batman finish the sentence
Which is also absolutely terrible.
>Batman has built in radar
This is probably the dumbest shit in the book. If this were actually true he should never be ambushed again.
Yes, but there's a difference between doing an entire issue recap in issue 70+ and doing an entire issue recap in THE FIRST ISSUE OF AN EVENT.
I noticed it too. I guess he thinks that they're a convenient plot device, and Bendis likes reusing the same plots over and over almost as much as he likes using the same dialogue style over and over.
that word bubble tail in the second panel needs to be fixed
It's literally a correct English construction, if a bit outdated.
>Do I got that right
Out of all the things in this issue, this is the one that legitimately triggers me
Yep, Manhunter is even an important part
that's a big fucking building, how come no one noticed it before
You're right, it is pretty damn big. There's no way anybody would think that thing is a museum, no museum is that big, and no museum has such a weird expensive-looking design that would be an engineering nightmare to construct.
SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU LITTLE SHITS. DO YOU WHO WROTE THIS SHIT POST EVEN KNOW WHAT A GOOD COMIC PLOT IS?!!! WHEN I WR--- ERR, I MEAN WHEN BENDIS WRITES, HE WRITES MASTERPIECES.
Are you telling me that Lois doesn't know that Talia is Damian's mom?
HE IS ALIVE
Could someone please story time Wonder Woman? I feel like the number of weekly story time threads have dropped significantly.
How about you pony up the $4 and read it yourself you cheap twat.
I'm just messin'.
Ain't nobody expected to pay jack shit for G. Willow Wilson's shit-tier run.
Oh, but Bendis wank, that's fine. Yea Forums really is the actual worst board.
why doesn't bendis use contractions
>i do not
>i am not
>i have not
it reads really clunky and inorganic and OOC
He looks like a Destiny OC.
That may be, but "whoever" also works. You know what else does?
>DID SUPERMAN, ONE OF MY OLDEST FRIENDS, YOUR HUSBAND CLARK, DROP YOU OFF?!
I am beyond sick of this distance Bendis is trying to put between Bruce and Lois.
>Miss Lane
THIS SHIT HAPPENED.
He can call her Lois. She can call him Bruce, or Batman when other people are around. Fuck he really doesn't read other people's books does he?!
So their cover story is a building that has the same public purpose as...The Hall of Justice. Smart.
That would be Bendis.
>reading Tom King's comics
The real canon is that Bruce, Clark, and Lois are friends, and that Lois despise Selina. That's it. Lois would never be friends with a known criminal that have played with her friends' heart and flirted with her own husband.
King's fanfiction should be rightfuly ignored.
>reading Tom King's comics
Fine. Sorry for triggering you. I didn't even give a shit about a character not on the page I posted that one as a response to. What mattered was Bruce, Clark, and Lois hanging out with the masks off.
This happened as well. This ongoing formality between Bruce and Lois is bullshit.
>and how much it sucks that it was gone.
Which is weird, since Bendis went out of his way to make SHIELD shadier and more useless than ever.
>Batman doesn't eat pie.
Horseshit. Everyone eats pie.
But user, how do you know that of everything Alfred handles in the Manor, Martha was the one who insisted on baking pies?
>They came after her at work and at her home. HER! Amanda Waller! In her home!
>They kidnap Clark Kent, my husband...
Why the fuck does Bendis insist on writing like this? The first quote is just dumb since people don't talk like that, but the second is dumb since it insinuates that 1) Lois and Batman have never met 2) Batman doesn't know that Clark is Superman and 3) that Batman doesn't know that Clark and Lois are married.
What a load of shit.
I (, , ) Know that feel, bruh. It's fucking annoying.
>fourth world
Intergang? How long has it been since we last saw signs of them?
Anons, they're in a semi-public place. Are you genuinely this retarded?
They're in a semi-public place under the impression there is no one else there, until there is.
As many times as Batman and Superman have publicly crossed paths in the past, I don't think anyone would think more of Batman addressing Lois as Lois.
Beyond that though, this didn't start here. When Lois called Diana and Bruce to her apartment in the Leviathan kick off special, when they weren't in a semi-public place, the two of them did the same thing. This isn't accidental and it isn't an act. It is something that is consciously being written and it is fucking dumb.
>are assembling the ultimate detective team
That for some reason will include Plastic Man instead of Elongated Man, they better acknowledge that in-universe.
Is this implying that Leviathan killed Nightwing and Guardian? What?
>they better acknowledge that in-universe.
I think Bendis has said that there is a story reason for that, and that he didn't just get them confused.
But I have doubt
>(((They)))
what did bendis mean by this?
You forgot a few "happened".
They were in the Lois and Clark miniseries after Convergence, but have been quiet since.
Bendis?
Does anyone know what Steve means about Talia? Who is "he"?
He means Batman
Pointed ears is a definite giveaway
It says a lot about how terrible King is
This was a good comic book. Easily one of the best roll outs for an event in some time, and the street level western/noir vibe is welcome. Better than a King, Snyder or Johns event so far.
Could it be that the CIA,NSA and Mossad dosen't deal with Metahuman affairs?
Nearly every single complaint ITT is made in similarly bad faith, willful ignorance
There is no way that they wouldn't deal with Metahuman affairs in a world in which metahumans exist.
One agency can only do so much work, which is why you have other agency's to deal with that. Do you think the CIA does federal investigations as well?
Honestly I would unironically love for it to be revealed that this has all been an Intergang thing and it's one of Darkseid's dude behind it all
Saying "nothing happens in this issue" is a fact, not bad faith or ignorance.
I mean, on one hand in a general way, I agree in that many comics are obscenely decompressed these days and the concept of spending $40 on any summer event is dumb- but I think it was a fine plot- the detectives of the DCU converging in secret on a crime scene and struggling to understand the crime, and the Trevor stuff was well done imo, positioning him as a major player and the page w the bubble/explosion is impressive as is all of the art. Lois' characterization and elevation to Batman compatriot is nice too. Lower key than most pew pew shit, but thats refreshing.
>How are you?
>I'm Batman
you're not funny, Bendo
>Better than a King, Snyder or Johns event so far.
No
>Takis
Takis are sold in Americlapistan?
This is an argument which would've worked back in the 00's when Bendis' style was still relatively new. Not in the 10's when Bendis had multiple events that have the same pacing and story execution problems.
>Better than a King, Snyder or Johns event so far.
King is about even with him.
I have problems with Snyder's and Johns' stuff, but reading through the first issue of Metal and Doomsday Clock at least I get a sense the story was moving forward, unlike this issue.
It's just hard to deal with another intro when it had a lead up in a book and then already a one issue special... but it's Bendis and people should be used to it...
Literally just red Cayde.
Thats got to be hundreds of thousands of people. It'd be crazy if just all their buildings were bombed at once, but all of them disappear into the Rapture?
She looks really nonplussed at the news that a major government organization just evaporated in an instant and she barely escaped.
