I really like the first comic as well

Sym-Bionic Titan. Their monster-of-the-week setup did drag a little before they got more into the meat of the story, but all the designs are top-notch, my favorite being the nightmare shaman. And it oozes the same style as Samurai Jack- in a giant robot show.

I just really wish I could have gotten myself to actually give more of a shit about the main robot. Its design and that of its component parts just really never appealed to me at all.

The Godzilla comic series from late 90s-early 2000s was quite good. There's even an issue where a team of giant Predators come to Earth to hunt kaiju for sport. I think it was edited by Dark Horse.
