John K was HEAVILY involved in the every stage of the production during the Spumco seasons. He directed every episode of season 1 and most of season 2. He redrew several scenes from other artists during the storyboard/layout process and had to teach them drawing skills while on the job. He voiced Ren. And most of his ideas did make it through, he was just a massive perfectionist which is why it took so long for episodes to be produced. You can hate him but to say he's not responsible for the show being successful is flat out wrong.

While the episodes aren't as well-remembered (aside from Stimpy's Cartoon Show), the quality does not drop in the episodes, though they do push the dark jokes further in the Games episodes.

It's less about him being able to draw and more about him putting out content before the ice caps melt off. Any fuckwit can draw, and some can even draw incredibly well, but if you can't keep to any sort of deadline, crack under pressure, can't handle criticism, and are terribly socially mal-adjusted, you're not gonna do well in the professional world.

R&S had multiple people working on it at once and John only got to that point because he knew a guy who knew a guy. After he got canned from that due to being a giant jackass even for ‘90s animation industry standards as well as constantly failing to meet deadlines he never got anything else put out, aside from Adult Party Cartoon which not only sucked but didn’t even last a full season and had an entire half of made episodes unaired.
