Is this comic about to set the tone to the next decade of comics? We had edgy 90s and quippy poticial 10s. Are 20s are going to be horror/shock themed?
Is this comic about to set the tone to the next decade of comics? We had edgy 90s and quippy poticial 10s...
The first few issues of Immortal Hulk was so comfy. I like the current arc but it's not as comfy.
there's a cultural creative void at the moment, audiences being unable to appreciate anything which doesn't pander to their specific niche interest and simplify everything to clear and unequivocal statements, with artists self-censoring from fear of enraging the mob which they themselves belong to, so yeah; probably
Immortal Hulk is to this generation what Saga of the Swamp Thing was to the people of the 80's.
*political
Yeah. I thought it was going to be a horror anthology series and then it pulled the rug. Still a great comic but those early issues, especially issue #1, are just incredible.
I'm sure the editorial department pulled the plug on the horror anthology idea. These new issues don't feel like they have any balls.
Yeah, this is probably a good comparison. Somebody'll probably get assblasted about comparing Ewing to Moore, but it's pretty spot on.
>quippy poticial
...
Well, better him being compared to Moore than Cates.
That doesn't make any sense. That past 15 issues have had more horror stuff than the first few.
>Hulk having le ebil smile is horror
Fuck off, it's not scary, it was never scary and never will be scary.
No? wtf Ewingfags are autistic
I thought you made your final post already?
This, the idea of a green unkillable monster having horror-related adventures is NOT what Swamp Thing was about. Fucking downs-babies.
Smiling hulk isn't scary
kek
Saga of the Swamp Thing is a seminal work of literature. It discusses ideas like Heaven and Hell, the meaning of evil, feminism, grudges, racism, familial relationships, a wide range of sexual expressions from vegetable fetishism to necrophilia, deals with what it means to be human and introduces John Constantine, a character who went on to have a 300-issue run of his own comic.
Immortal Hulk is a one-trick pony. Stop comparing them.
You can oversimplify any comic as a "one trick pony", you nonce. Develop critical thinking skills.
Regular Hulk comic:
>bad man does bad thing
>Hulk smash
Immortal Hulk:
>bad man does bad thing
>Hulk smiles
>Hulk smash
Oh wow how amazing innovation.
I didn't think it was scary. I thought it was more about somebody like Hulk being more insidious in his motive. He's obviously still a hero though.
Thanks for proving me right.
No, it's a flash in the pan book carried entirely by it's cover art and will be forgotten just like Bruce Jone's run was forgotten .
Can someone explain to me what's so special about this run that people are giving a shit about it? It is a case of where Hulk's been shit since World War Hulk, that it's getting praised simply because of lower expectations?
Lower expectations factor into it but it's good. With the state of modern capeshit, It probably deserves the praise.
Someone can give a better synopsis, but after dying in Civil War 2, Hulk came back to life and discovered that Gamma Radiation is unholy/cosmic horror based. He's now roaming the earth trying to find out the new origins of gamma radiation and fighting monster versions of his foes, who are coming back to life or getting power boosts by the new Mr Blue or whatever mystery villain who is behind the new cosmic horror origin of gamma radiation.
This will be my final post on Yea Forums.
How can anyone think that this is scary for real ? How can anyone take seriously a horror book with Green Trump as a supposed to be frightening monster ? How can anyone see Green Trump as frightening for real in this book ? "Ouh, Green Trump is smiling, so unsetlling, this is so scary guys..." why are you lying to yourself like that ? You guys are just forcing onto yourself the new fade there will be in this hivemind of a board, with the blandest, tamest, most classicly safe comic book there can be, while your selective outrage is shitting on Shelton's The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers for things that would be praised if they were written by someone else, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO you have to shit on it even if it's good because the hivemind dictates you to do so !!!
No wonder you can't get laid, but guess what ? I got a girlfriend now. For the first time of my life after 36 years I finally got a girlfriend, and all that nerd fuss has become so irritating since. I'm just leaving for good now, I had plenty of fun with that board but I'm done. I wish you to get girlfriends to, maybe it will open your eyes about the hivemind that is destructing your self, but sadly, the hivemind is probably keeping you away from being able to seduce anyone, so you're most likely trapped in a vicious circle, and sadly, there is no Jean Henri Gaston Giraud to save you from it. I just hope that this message will maybe help you to think by yourself a bit more and to get a girlfriend to.
Enjoy your book
It's really good against the field right now. Standards for mainline superhero books are rock bottom, so Immortal Hulk which is just a very good book feels like an all-time hit.
Good written capeshit with good sales. Not afraid of bodyhorror. Instead of trying to powercreep enemies it places Hulk in various positions of disadvantage. Creates a new dynamic between Banner and Hulk.
Because it has:
>Legitimately good writing that doesn't treat the readers like idiots
>Respects the past of the character while also introsucing new elements into the Hulk mythos
>New themes
>subversion plot points, but to the benefit story
Since nobody else is mentioning monster girl waifu then I will.
I want snusnu with her.
She looks good. Definitely more feminine than I expected.
itt
ewingfag incels.
People who have never read anything past high school
People who think that Morrison, gaiman, or Moore are good writers and not just people who only have a footing in comics.
Gaiman is a world-famous novelist though.
>horror has to be scary

So is this just one guy?
Nah, I posted the copypasta because it's a traditional part of every IH thread. Ewing-hater is someone else.
Hulk is a lucky man
Based and Gammapilled.
Guys I don't ever buy floppies but should I get the trades or just wait for the deluxe? I want to show my support to this series since it finally addressed the fact that white males can get away with anything and be forgiven.
God I hope so.
I don’t get why this book is the one getting all the recognition desu. In my opinion among the big 2 capes there are better ongoings and miniserieses but eh
This desu. Meet the skrulls and Martian manhunter should have more recognition
Storytime them and see if people get excited.
Issue 2 is probably my favorite, hope it goes back to more anthology like stuff after the current arc but still enjoying the run
It's not going back to that, we EPIC AF now.
Now someone post the reverse
I haven't seen it in a while.
They have already been storytimed, and the people posting in there seem to enjoy it. Pity it’s not that popular on Yea Forums though, probably because of the lack of outrage/circlejerking
You skipped the 00s
>circlejerking
Fucking this. This right here is what I hate the most about Immortal Hulk threads. The series is BAD, like REALLY REALLY BAD even by modern capeshit standards but Yea Forums won't shut the fuck up about how it's the best thing ever. In this very thread people are calling it better than Saga of the Swamp Thing and Sandman, all because it's got le big green man making le ebin evil smile. Like who the fuck is scared by that? Jesus Christ.
Fucking autist
What's it going to take?a terrorists attack , a another recession?
As a hawkfag, I totally agree
>reading Ewing
>calling others autistic
‘Kay.
That is one of the biggest over exaggeration I've heard in a while. Probably going to get a lot more horror comics coming out soon but it's not going to have anywhere near the impact that have. Swamp Thing can basically take credit entire existence of Vertigo and everything that came from it.
Devil Hulk? More like Dad Hulk
Immortal Hulk is a comic
>hey what if...
>what if we ripped off Predator... AND THE THING? Eh? EHH?
>Wow you're a damn genius Al!
Still better than 99% of other comics
>what if we ripped off boogers from beneath our desks and ate them? Eh? EHH?
>Wow this is delicious Al!
Nah no one is really doing it the same way, although i wouldn't be surprised if DC will start copying it in a couple of years or less.
Which DC superhero character would be revamped as a horror character?
>batfags will start to storm any Hulk thread from now on
This is both hilarius and sad, DC really makes good drones of their readers, every other fanbase gives zero fucks about them but they will never stop showing how dumb they are to the others.
Do they still own Dick Tracy? That would be smart.
But they would probably go for the easy ones, like Croc or Grundy to cash on the similarities.
>why won't people who read IH take my baits and makes fun of me instead?! REEE fucking weirdos!
Really makes you think.
>But they would probably go for the easy ones, like Croc or Grundy
Etrigan
lol hell no
>t.assblasted Moorefags
So fucking predictable.
>Moorefags
Hardly.
It is just the same retard who is falsefagging, he probably never even seen a page of Swamp Thing. Ignore him. He'll just keep bumping the thread.
>Are 20s are going to be horror/shock themed?
yes but in a diffrent way then you think. in the 20s the comic industry is finally going to die and will only occasionally be resurrected like a zombie by warner bros and disney to promote something
I hope the 20s see an end to sjw and feminist pandering and a return of good action scenes and sexy costumes
I can't help but feel like I've read this post before, and now I wonder if it's supposed to be a copypasta.
I'd buy the trades if Marvel trades weren't completely awful quality
It's pretty hilarious how IH outselling Batman brought Bitch Ewing out of hibernation.
>Are 20s are going to be horror/shock themed?
I think we've all been shocked by how horrid Superman and Batman comics have gotten this year.
I can wait for a hardcover, because the Marvel HCs have been pretty damn good, and it's worth a HC.
>a world where most cape comics are horror
We don't live in that perfect world user.
You don't know much about fear do you ?
I'd settle for a world where every DC title wasn't 1-2% separated from Harley Quinn, Batman or Johns.
Why is it better ? It's not even done by a good artist and it's the same gimmick you eat in every issues.
>Is this comic about to set the tone to the next decade of comics
No.
It's capeshit Hulk done as a straight up horror comic. It's a novelty of the moment comic for Yea Forums. I enjoy it but I'd hardly call it the greatest book out there.
>Martian manhunter
The only notable thing about it is the art.
>It is a case of where Hulk's been shit since World War Hulk, that it's getting praised simply because of lower expectations?
Yes
This.
Hulk has a perfect mix of readily dispensable villains and supporting cast who can be actually killed off, and a protagonist who's motives aren't corporately mandated to be iconically pure and righteous to support multiple titles/crossovers/events.
You can't storytell like this with Batman or Spider-Man without it being an inconsequential Elseworlds or Doc Oc in a mind-transfer.
Good morning bros, I feel like debating
This would be true if the praise took a nose-dive after issue #3 or so.
Capeshit is never scary. Prove me wrong.
Found the basedboy.
I hope so, I love the body horror and the slow burn pacing that is actually done well and doesn't feel like nothing happens each issue. More horror is always a win. The direction explored with the multiple personalities rolled into one run reminds me of moon knight as well, which I also like. This is probably my favourite big 2 ongoing outside of doctor strange
>can't even dodge the word filter
the absolute state of wojakposters
So jump scares are what do it for you?
Have you considered you might just be skittish?
Ah glad to see Rosemary's baby on the list
Hey, I like The Shining.
and Halloween.
and The Exorcist.
and Rosemary's Baby.
and Eraserhead.
and The Cabin in the Woods.
But I haven't seen any of the other ones.
>Yea Forums responds to a blatant Yea Forums bait image
Gotta love this board
can someone give me a full body reference for the hulk?
socialist revolution that allows creators to make without the need to pander to the lowest common denominator
Imagine thinking a shitty horror-lite superhero comic written by a Morrison copycat is going to be influential
seething Batfag
Seriously speaking, how long can "smiling Hulk" keep up these sales?

Yes, it is already this generation's Sandman.

The pasta is pretty funny but I really hate this post for some reason whenever it shows up
There are people who are horror fans who don't like most of these movies???
Forever!
Probably till the issue numbers near the 50 mark. Not many series have the momentum to keep up interest for over 4 years .
What's a good comic today, user?
Yes, me.
I like most of the "vintage" section but the rest of those movies can go fuck themselves.
Except Trick'rTreat. That was amazing.
I personally like the body horror elements.
Have Sex
I've wanted them to movie Tim Drake to a rural setting for some southern Gothic horror-mysteries for a while now.
>trumpkin actually believing this
Feminism and sjws are here to stay, snowflake. Modern comics already got better action scenes than ever, and your sleazy degrading "sexy" costumes are thankfully a thing of the past
no
it's just going to set another trend for a couple of family books like when remender was very successful with his x-force run so they decided to expand it to avengers arena and shit
Generally there are two ways "eras" change. Either everyone gets so tired of stuff from the last era that it leaves a void that something new can come along to fill or the transition happens so gradually that nobody notices it. It's looking like we'll be getting the former this time around.
>It's looking like we'll be getting the former this time around.
You mean, by everyone getting tired of the conservative and alt-right bullshit? Definitely
What established cap character would be best for a horror run?
I think Aquaman could do something with deep sea horror
