This could totally work if you confined the nerdy and/or anime shit to just Birch and be consistent with the characters not liking each other (except Liam's quasi-big-bro attitude towards Birch) but having to spend time together because of school. Can a cartoon that actually helps kids deal with real life even be green-lit nowadays? The general stance is that everything that isn't sunshine and rainbows should be kept out of cartoons. The "worst" you can get nowadays is moving to a new place, or maybe a step-parent. Forget everyday violence, poverty, neglect, death, budding sexuality or abuse.

There's nothing wrong with a teen watching porn as long as you filter it for violent or abusive content. There are even companies that specifically make female-friendly porn that is all about intimacy and not just rough fucking. The only thing you're doing by punishing your child for watching porn and putting blocks on stuff is throwing away any control over what they watch over at their friends' house or bring in on flash drives a friend downloaded for them. Honestly the only way I can see this show working is if they either go 100% into the anime references (I mean obscure references, I wanna see a Legends of the Galactic Heroes episode at the very least), or they just don't mention anime whatsoever and make an american comedy with Japanese tropes.

No, that bikini is an dichotomy. It combines the conservative coverage of a one piece with technically being a two piece.
