Seriously. Street level characters are where he made his name. His Action hasn't been bad,but that's likely due to it being more "grounded". Cosmic/space stories will not go well.

I'm trying to just get through his YJ to keep up with Cassie, every character sounds like a fucking teenage girl or a Buffy character, which isn't the worst thing for the teenage characters but then you have like the Gemworld monarchs and Zeus and shit and they all sound exactly the same.

There are too reasons for that, I think.

1) Everyone says he is actually good with teens. Okay, but the Legion haven't been teens in years, they've grown up and moved on from just being Superman's wacky friends from the future.

2) The sheer number of characters is going to be a problem. There are like, let's be generous and say 15-20 active Legionnaires at any given time. This is an issue for any writer, let alone one notorious for borderline ADD in his output. There's no way anymore than maybe six will get any decent panel time, and at least two of them will likely be OCs.

This is going to be a crowded, unfocused mess of a run.

I can kind of give a pass to the Gemworld monarchs. Recall in the original series, they are a bunch of inbred, infantile morons who needed Amy around to tie their fucking shoelaces, so it's not entirely out of place.

But goddamn is the story just kind of dull. It's not even that it's basic, it just has no charisma to it at all. Nothing that's happened so far feels exciting, even if there are some good moments in it. It's so... blah.

Absolutely. For all the character drama, Legion storylines are definitely large scale for a large team. And that requires actual thought to do right. As we know, Bendis doesn't like putting thought into anything or properly fleshing out ideas.

Still salty about Riri not being the proper mad scientist she clearly should be. And y'know what? I actually kinda like Teen Lantern. She's cute, and her concept could be interesting in the hands of someone competent.

I've never actually read any Swamp Thing either, and my deepest interaction with the character is probably vague memories of the 90s cartoon with the theme song that was a very slightly reworked Wild Thing.

I think in the modern age of MCU movies, role model characters (to be put in movies) and kid friendliness (to sell merchandise (for characters in movies)) Bendis has become a little less destructive in the murderer sense.
I foresee his version of the Legion being very inoffensive and basic, and I don't think there's much reason for him to do the "everything you thought you knew about x is WRONG" thing when readers don't really know shit about the Legion anyway.

I'm anticipating something that reads like someone who skimmed Wikipedia for ideas and plotted out five issues at a time in about two hours, but not a hilarious disaster unfortunately.

But again, it comes down to framing. It's the 31st century, and maybe Nura likes to get freaky with a variety of genitalia, and maybe Thom likes to watch. Where is the "camera" pointing?

A) A loving couple likes to get up to safe, consensual shenanigans.

There's little doubt Bendis' camera will point to B.
