There is lore. It's not deep, but what's there is interesting and does serve the world-building. It also serves as to why there aren't any other MoTU characters (besides legal issues). The action isn't great, especially season 1 where the animation was kind of bad. It got better in season 2, but the focus of the show isn't action. The show is more character focused and places emphasis on the writing.

There's lore, although there isn't that much to discuss with it. Currently the most interesting lore about the show is that Eternia is trapped in a pocket dimension thanks to the efforts of an ancient She-Ra named Mara. Their planet is completely cut off from the rest of the Universe, and Hordak is trying to build a portal so he can get back. It seems like conquering Eternia is just a side quest to help him gain the resources necessary to complete his mission to get back.

Sci-Fantasy precursors wired the planet so they had total control of it's systems, they vanish and leave some dumbass princesses in charge who forget all that shit but still unwittingly keep it stable. Dimension hopping villain accidentally shows up and builds an army to conquer planet while focusing on attempts to build a portal to take him off this backwater planet. Also some kids develop emotional problems from being abused child soldiers.
