Ignoring Gaiman's hit or miss fanfiction, was this a happy ending?
Ignoring Gaiman's hit or miss fanfiction, was this a happy ending?
Even if you pretend Gaiman's run didn't exist, Moore's ending wasn't exactly a happy one. Liz outright says what the problem is, and Miracleman still hasn't grasped it, even though he starts wondering why it bothers him.
Reprint.
It's not fan fiction when Alan Moore actually condones your run. Given how much he doesn't condone you can safely conclude Gaiman's Miracleman is 100% legitimate.
No, it wasn't. Why would you even ask that, as it's a non issue here. "a happy ending" is a meaningless reductive concept in this work and many of his others and obviously you missed the point. What are you doing
It probably helps that he and Gaiman are friends.
Moore despises Morrison (and vice versa) though.
>The original writer
That is low
I don't think Morrison hates Moore
why is there hate at all though? They should hang around
It's a worrisome ending
Moore wrote a dickish reply to Morrison's Miracleman followup pitch, so Morrison slagged off Moore in the press. And then Moore hasn't read anything of his since the 80s and dismissed him (repeatedly and not unfairly) as ripping him off.
Also they have a weird ongoing tiff about who became a wizard first.
But the difference is that Morrison respects Moore (even if he's written numerous times about Watchmen being overrated) and Moore has told his fans if they want to own books by Grant Morrison to get rid of all of Moore's books so they're not in the same house.
>Moore has told his fans if they want to own books by Grant Morrison to get rid of all of Moore's books so they're not in the same house.
Really?
>and Moore has told his fans if they want to own books by Grant Morrison to get rid of all of Moore's books so they're not in the same house.
Based
Morrison is decent but SUPER overrated and his Animal Man run's ending was fucking trash
Sorry but the 'heh, all my build up was pointless and instead of giving you an ending that respected it and you, i'm just going to bitching using my self insert' was crap writing.
Though it led to the writer being fucked murdered in Suicide Squad, so that was worth a chuckle
Yeah, iirc it was in the livestream interview he did as a reward for the Harvey Pekar kickstarter. He said if his fans couldn't tell the difference between good writing and Grant Morrison that he'd prefer they not read/own his (Moore's) stuff at all.
Which is insane but also hilarious.
...
Isn't that what he wants?
It's pretty accurate. Morrison has shocking problems with basic exposition and establishing a scene. I'm still convinced most of his following is in on some "Emperor's New Clothes" style joke I don't get.
Moore doesn't want his name on the book as long as marvel owns it, what else are they supposed to do?
I agree. A lot of his work is incomprehensible because of poor writing masquerading as complexity. Final Crisis and The Invisivles immediately come to mind.
>Morrison has shocking problems with basic exposition and establishing a scene
Shocking? Really? Wow.
Soulless textboxes
Holy art
this is great art, i love the brain trees, did mr totleben ever do anything else notable?
I heard that he is blind now.
I actually like the reprint, the coloring is better than the original.
It really is. Though the other day user was storytiming a non colored version and the art had a lot of detail that's lost in coloring
Swamp Thing with Bissette?
:(
thanks, i'll look it up.
>that one lip plant trying its luck
Shocking because they come out of a man many hail as some sort of living legend and he has shown no improvement over the last 25 years.
>Fanfic
Gaiman got the approvation Johns will never get.
What was so incomprehensible about them?
To be fair I'm used to Geoff Johns, so without a character or army of characters sneaking up on another and saying something epic in a colorful voice bubble to mark a plot beat, I get confused.
He just has a unique narrative.
It was better than Moore's run. If you're into capeshit, you'll find Moore's run more enticing, but Gaiman wrote better stories imo. Moore wrote a lot of shit that didn't go anywhere and had plenty of filler.
Grant Morrison's best work is his capeshit.
Everything else he did is overrated.
He and Moore are on completly different levels from each other.
You mean he finished it? I thought it was on hiatus
Why? They were asked to remove his name. What else were they supposed to put there, "Grigori Rasputin?"
I really like Gaiman's work because we get to see Gargunza calling Andy Warhol a faggot and then Warhol goes "stupid Gargunza, it's not like i like you "
grant morrison.
