Turn 33 later this month and remember the night when AS first premiered. Feels like another life ago now.

>Venture Bros has been on for almost two decades.

Woo

Nothing will match the impact of the original run of Cowboy Bebop. Dragon Ball may have piqued a generation's interest in eastern things, but Bebop sealed the deal.

Why would I ever commit a programming blocks launch to memory? I'm 29 next month but of course I don't remember, what a stupid thing to focus on.

I remember my friend and I chatting on AIM about what the hell we were watching. Pretty sure it was Sealab 2021.

Yeah, you were too young. Little kids have no sense of zeitgeist.

>Sealab
>Aqua Teen
>Home Movies
>Brak Show
>Birdman
>Space Ghost
I hated Brak and Birdman as a kid but loved the shit out of Sealab and Aqua Teen. Is there any modern shit with a similar feel?

Zeitgeist is something that only little kids care about, the fuck do you mean? No grown man with their own identity bothers getting caught up in that crap

Squidbillies, but that's only modern in the sense that it's still airing. There's also Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell, but it's live action.

I'm 27 and I remember vividly.

Im 24 and I remember.

I remember catching episodes of ATHF, Sealab, Birdman and Brak one night before AS premiered. I remember it was after Christmas of 2000, and I was playing Banjo Tooie at the time. I was pretty disappointed when they didn't reair the following night or week. Can't remember if I recorded some of them, but when promos for AS started, I was ready.

>Zeitgeist is something that only little kids care about
Wow. That's... that's fucking powerful "I'm rubber and you're glue" you got going there. Next you're going to tell me that the idea of the "dear self" is an idea only the vain and self-concerned acknowledge.

>don't ever think about the past, not even once. if you do you're almost destined for failure. just look forward and take nothing into consideration
wow that's such a gay way of looking at things

That's not what zeitgeist means at all, retard.

>unrepentant strawman
Fun posting is fun.

I'm 25 and I remember the bumpers from the programming change in the early 2000s.

Feels like just yesterday it was airing reruns of Baby Blues

You don't seem like a fun person. You sound boring.

ALL KIDS OUTTA THE POOL

It had so much soul.
Now it's a bunch of modern day hipsters with their heads stuck up their asses.

Do you even know what straw-man means? Fuck. Sorry for even bringing in subtle philosophical terms into the equation just because they by chance happened to be so apt. I forgot how caveman you people were.

Yeah! Exactly. How old are you?

I am totally 100 percent adult-man sir.

Can I see the swearing cartoons now before my mommy comes back?

Yeah strawman is when you make up a fake argument to attack instead of the actual person you're talking to. Like you bringing up "dear self" and also thrusting an opinion of it onto me in the same post, dumbass.

I’d say Bebop was the source of the split in the anime fandom today. People who enjoyed Bebop seem to dislike the wave of shonen and slice of life stuff that was brought over soon after it. In the 90s as an anime fan you just took what you got.

I remember not the day but the period. I would watch late night cartoon Network because I was a child left to my own devices. I remember it started airing and became this moment of true hedonistic freedom. I was in a fairly religious home the moments I was with the programming I felt kinda free. Most of it confused or bored me thou. I was like bloody 7-10 years old. I don't recall the exact start of it's air date or my age at the time. I'm 27 now. It was like exploring another world free of super vision. Something I normally was drowning in.

ADULT SWIM

For me too many of the jokes flew over my head with Birdman. Could only appreciate it as an adult.

I'm 24 and I remember.
Shit, my mom and I would often watch Home Movies together when I was a kid.
Shit was comfy.

I wasn't there for the premiere, but I started pretty early on. I was drawn to the anime before the comedies, but Futurama and Family Guy were nightly watches for years.
I miss Mission Hill.
I never liked Aqua Teen.

>Starting a download of the new aqua teen episode on Kazaa at 1am to ensure nobody uses the phone and I can watch it the next day.

Take me back.
