The books never addressed it but I think there's some evidence to suggest Susan is not Will's birth mother. Susan's hair is black; Will's is red. Susan has a deep tan - almost Hispanic; Will is pasty. Susan is tall, lean, and busty; Will is short and underdeveloped.
But Susan also got pregnant when she was, like, fifteen, so maybe Will just hasn't caught her mom's genes yet.

The original comics are Italian, just like Winx. But the W.I.T.C.H. show is a French-American co-production.
Also the cartoon has very little in common with Winx beyond superficial stuff, it's a *lot* more similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender actually.
