Its one of those works that's immensely enriched by knowing all the things that it's referencing. Googling the history, plays, mythology etc. that is being referenced as you go makes it all the more enjoyable. Have fun, it's one of the all time greats for a reason

Interesting how Sandman, Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns were the big three for so long but now it's a big two because Sandman's edgy early 90's art has aged like doo doo while Watchmen and DKR are eternal.

This is a terrible take.
All three are still talked about. Sandman just isn't talked about so much in terms on its influence on modern superhero comics because it isn't about a superhero.
