Did Spidey move to chicago in the 90s or is this a life story exclusive change?
Sebastian Cook
Ryder Lopez
Austin Ortiz
Samuel Lewis
Blake Bell
>peter older than stark
thats a first
Benjamin Parker
It's this universe's Ben Reilly, who moved there with the Gwen clone back in issue 2.
Hudson Lopez
Is this setting up Civil War?
Gabriel Brown
That's a nice spidey suit
Michael Jackson
>Jessica Jones doesn't end up getting CAGE'D in this universe
Julian Morales
I really want to see them do this with Cap now. Having Civil War break out between Cap and Iron Man in Vietnam sounds fucking amazing.
Dominic Anderson
makes me wonder if theyll sneak in his "final" suit at the end of the series
Jacob Smith
What's the implication here?
Connor Lewis
Eh, Tony is probably older with a shit ton of plastic surgery to keep up appearances
Luis Sanders
given we see riley getting kidnapped by ock, probably a foreshadowing of a "young" superior spiderman/octopus
David Adams
Stark honestly is the kind of person to get plastic surgery.
Ryan Brooks
I don't understand why Parker Industries became a thing, wasn't it introduced as a bad end in OMD?
Ian Wright
God, why you want to tie anything into one universe?
Series are pretty good, they won’t become better if it’s a foreshadowed prequel to smith.
Jace Morris
I honestly expected Pete to shack with Felicia, but this is fine
Asher Cook
I imagine it’ll end this issue with him giving up on PI, retiring and becoming a college proffesor
Juan Smith
Enjoying the series. Guess standalone stories like this are the best way to read capeshit. They have finale, no fillers like all ongoings and usually nice drawing.
Blake Carter
>exhuasted
Hunter Torres
I hope Felicia shows up at all.
Isaiah Walker
>pete was the one she had drunken painal with
Angel Adams
Maybe she's just cucking him with Peter.
Cameron Gonzalez
it's the only way to enjoy modern capeshit.
Dominic Gray
I love the slightly weathered, milf-y Jessica here. She actually looks like a hard-living type for once.
The slight wrinkles and crow's feet make her look like a bustier Sigourney Weaver or maybe a young Adrienne Barbeau. Gaydos' art in ALIAS never really made her look sexy, but I love the attention Bagley paid to rendering her thighs in particular.
I wish this was all in a prestige hardcover already so I could buy it. This monthly shit is what's killing cape books.
Benjamin Kelly
May's dead!
Aiden Thompson
Not sure if Zdarsky's speeding into Superior with this though it's possible. If he's playing it safe/faithful to the decades they play out in, then maybe this is the debut of some unseen variant of Kaine/Otto's death more than anything. One way or another being Ben is suffering, holy shit.
By and far this is the best Spidey comic coming out no less.
Charles Thomas
Fuck no!
Asher Nguyen
Huh, so here they still don't know Tony is Iron Man.
Hudson Anderson
Makes sense. In 1995 we weren't at the age of everyone who has a secret identity doesn't really have one anymore. That was more of a 2000's era thing, where anyone who wore a mask only had a secret identity in the loosest of terms (other than Spider-Man)
Dominic Cooper
Because it's a cool suit. It's already been used before outside of that story anyways, so using it here doesn't mean it's tying into ASM 500.
Leo Edwards
>bustier Sigourney Weaver
Carson White
I think it's more likely she and Cage marry in the 00's, if at all.
But remember, Bendis retroactively made a background character in early Ditko Spider-Man as Jessica, so she'd be Peter's age and might've had a different history than regular Jessica. This may also be a reference to Jessica crushing on Peter when they were younger.
Aaron Sanchez
>Glory
As in Glory Grant?
Adam Taylor
guess its working its way up to civil war in the 2000s
Kevin Jackson
Why yes, friend, it would indeed appear to be so.
Cooper Robinson
Makes sense though.
Bentley Cook
Iron Man's identity wasn't public in 1995
Jayden Martinez
Yo. Why is Tony so young? Stark tech plastic surgery?
Zachary Sullivan
>Logan's face
Always fucking gets me
Josiah Kelly
he's just dying his hair.
Adrian Hall
>Glad I'm on the outside of a love triangle this time
Jack Smith
>dat smile eating
Thomas Bell
So what are the predictions for this issue?
Clone Saga and Carnage? Kraven Venom? X-TREME new crime fighters confusing boomer peter?
Benjamin Bennett
>Chinese takeout again
Goddammit Bendis, at least give Logan the weeb a good ol bowl of noodles
Joseph Brown
I didn't even know this started, has it been any good?
Aiden Gonzalez
thank you for posting
Tyler Adams
The 00's issue is Civil War/Death of Captain America + War on Terror/9/11, so yes.
Owen Sanders
The issue is that you either don't do Superior at all, or you do it early. It wouldn't make sense for Ock to live that long.
Blake Powell
Yes. Very.
Alexander Sullivan
Why does Peter look 60? He's just in his 40s in this one, right? I guess it's stress doing this?
Aaron Ramirez
Kek
Fuck the haters, I liked all the New Avengers Bendis put out
Chase Lewis
He was 15 in 1962, so he was born in 1947. In 1995 he'd be 48.
Brayden Long
Otto pulls a Superior on Ben
Jacob Edwards
Could Jessica be referring to Reed?
Charles Lewis
So the Russian War eventually ended? I wonder what year it was since when we last saw Life Story in 1984 a city got destroyed by The Red Ghost.
Samuel Kelly
Well we know that the variant showed a photographer (which turned out to be Ben) and the older Doc Ock, both which we saw in the preview. I have no idea if the woman on the cover is Jessica Jones or Mary Jane or someone else. But we do see the Green Goblin at the bottom, so we'll probably see him in the book.
Dominic Lopez
Holy cow, it think this is my favorite spider-man comic! I pray they do this for other superheroes. imagine the possibilities
David Brown
Maybe, or it could be Norman or Harry.
Carson Bell
He's got more lines on his face than Peter does. Might be hair dye.
Matthew Smith
It was also around during the Slott run.
It became a thing here because Peter got an internship working for Reed, then they parted ways in the 70's, and Peter had enough experience and knowledge to start up Parker Industries.
Camden Fisher
I guess Spider-Tracers would make him good with Cell Phones.
Asher Parker
There's also going to be a version of Civil War in the 2000's issue.
I really wanna read an Iron Man Life Story so we see what made him different from the Earth-616 Tony.
Isaiah Jenkins
It's true that his identity wasn't public, but Reed didn't learn Peter's identity till the 00's. In Life Story he learned it some time before 1984.
Plus by the 90's in the comics, Stark's company was called Stark Enterprises; Stark International was taken over by Stane and turned to Stane International. I get the impression Iron Man's history is vastly different in the Life Story universe. Like did his alcoholism get bad in this universe at all? Here he seems very aggressive about acquiring Peter's company, and still believes that he's doing good for the world by producing weapons.
Jayden Barnes
Also marvel.fandom.com
>After driving the company to new heights year after year, Tony Stark eventually suffered a crisis of conscience and declared that Stark would no longer produce weapons for S.H.I.E.L.D., the Government, or any other parties.[30] As Stark Industries continued to change its public persona and strengthened the corporation's foreign interests, it became known as Stark International.[31]
This definitely sounds like something the Life Story Tony wouldn't have done, so his company probably got the Stark International name for a different reason.
Jonathan Miller
Might be keeping himself healthy with Extremis.
Christian Gray
Sigourney Weaver and Adrienne Barbeau were both born in the mid/late 1940's so Life Story's Jessica and Peter would be very close to their ages, maybe off by two years.
Jacob Hughes
Bendis' first New Avengers run is legitimately good. The idea of having an overarching story of recapturing all the supervillains and focusing on certain villains in smaller arcs is genius and a great way to have the team do various things. Civil War was whatever, Secret Invasion was whatever, but Dark Reign was where it shined one last time.
Peter, Jessica, and Cage written by him, even this day where he's shit, would be a blast to read.
Asher Hughes
So realistically stark never stops being a cunt and probably spent the war wasted frying veitkong
Adam Long
A hard life of physical and mental stress ages you quickly
Dylan Sanders
Dude have you seen his face? Probably dies his hair and has had facelifts, just look at those wrinkles though
Brayden Moore
>Old as fuck Otto
>Young and healthy Ben
>"Doctor's appointment"
youtube.com
Evan Ramirez
>The Red Mask
So not Scarlet Spider
Gabriel Smith
What's up with the double posting ?
Ian Howard
So where is the gwen clone then?
Xavier Davis
Carnage
Oliver Green
Some brain geniuses seem surprised that the real-time life of Spider-Man would be depressing so they've been shitting on it. But yes,it's very good. The only downside is I wish that it had been the original length Zdarsky wanted, but Marvel only gave him 6 issues. As a result it feels extremely compressed.
Colton Gomez
I love this book but god damned it’s depressing. I honestly can’t see this not ending with Pete dying
Jaxon Thomas
Hot
Owen Hill
>Wife left him
>Took the kid
>Briefly financially successful but failing now
Life Story Peter is actually Zdarsky's alter-ego Todd Diamond
Bentley Cruz
It would’ve been nice if this was 12 issues, it would’ve given you just enough time to deal with each decade and maybe show some hapoy moments. As is I have no idea why this Pete kept going after secret wars, I feel like seeing something of that scale would bring some perspective to him and retire
Ryan Martin
Or even double-sized issues. It just feels like a) real-world relevance b) whatever was going on in Marvel that decade c) whatever was going on with Spidey d) explaining how the real-time Marvel U has changed e) dealing with Peter and his cast and their story f) doing a done-in-one self-contained-ish story
is a lot to cram into a normal-sized comic. Given all that, Zdarsky's doing an admirable job, though.
Blake Gomez
It's kind of weird for Jessica Jones to be here since this is meant to be a "real time" story, but Jessica Jones wasn't created until the 2000s, so she should be a teenager or in her early 20s in 1995.
Colton Gutierrez
Bendis wrote her to have gone to school with Pete and she appeared in zdarskys run of spectacular as a high school student with a locker right next to his
Jacob Watson
Based Tony.
Chase Evans
>A vigilante known as The Red Mask
Obviously it's Ben but was the costume pic related?
Christian Green
Was Stark Enterprises still selling weapons in the 90s?
Jeremiah Foster
Hopefully at least one issue is ok, like maybe the last issue is just him retiring peacefully or something
Or not
Landon Brown
Was it confirmed that Cap is going to be the hero who's gonna die in 00's issue?
Kevin Butler
Thanks for the double downed story time.
Adrian Rivera
Superior Scarlet Spider incoming unless Otto steals this suit for himself.
Julian Brown
Does anyone have the archived thread for the last issue?
Jack Evans
This run has already included retcons so this isn't some Byrne-tier autism project where everything needs to line up with real life chronology.
Robert Morris
According to marvel.fandom.com
See this is why I want to see the Life Story for Iron Man, I wanna know what caused him to be so different from his 616 version that he'd willingly participate in the Vietnam War as Iron Man and subsequently escalate things, while still producing weapons all the way to the 90's.
Luke Powell
It's not so much the depressing part that's a problem, it's that there wasn't much of a breather between the second and third. This would've benefited from another story between #2 and 3 that lightens things up. I still like it so far, though.
Carson Lee
It seems weird, but like said Bendis retconned Jessica's history so that she was one of Peter's classmates. Even though he kind of fucked up because he had Jessica awake from her coma at around the time Silver Surfer came to Earth, and then decided that she was the girl who saw the Sandman battle at the time she already had powers But regardless of that, if Jessica was around the same age as Peter, she'd have become a detective sooner.
Xavier Allen
The solicit implied a hero was gonna die, the Zdarsky cover is a combination of 9/11 and Captain America's body with the star filling up with red, Captain America died right after Civil War, I'm pretty sure all the signs point to it. Unless Zdarsky does a swerve.
Ayden Clark
It's a lot for him to cram in, and I wished he did have double-sized issues or two issues for some of the decades, but at least with this series I felt like it was worth paying for, unlike some other comics that drag things out.
Gabriel Morales
>Boomer Ock
Oliver Scott
>Tony had a crisis of conscience and declared that Stark Industries would no longer produce weapons for SHIELD or the government, this is around Iron Man #50.
Damn, look at this Pacifist right here!
Dominic Smith
Peter is a literal boomer, Ock is more silent generation
Andrew Lee
I think it's on desuarchive
Luke Phillips
disappointed that peter is not fat like the cover
Jacob Young
Well he did say he wouldn't make it for other people, but he didn't say he wouldn't make it for Iron Man.
Gavin Bennett
>"fuck you little people, you ain't getting muh super-advanced weapons"
>"brb, gotta wear muh WMD and go punch some dragons lol"
BRAVO TONY!
Bentley Lewis
To be fair given what happened in that What If where he patented his armor designs and it allowed people to create their own weapons, keeping all the weapons for himself was the better choice.
Angel Martinez
After how comics have been written for the past 20 years, I'll take a little hypercompression, thanks.
Lincoln Williams
He can arm his fucking country with some better laser rifles and partial armor plating to protect them from all the alien invasions, at the very least.
Carson Howard
Yeah, I don't understand how there's still other writers that haven't figured out slowing down the pace too far is a bad idea in a time when comics are $3.99
