How many episodes were leaked? Just the two April ones? I really like this show but it seems like everything is aired completely out of order, it feels like we were supposed to get these April episodes earlier. Or maybe not and Sunita will be a recurring character.

It really sucks cause RoTMNT is the only cartoon I look forward to at this point but its completely disogranized and because of that the plot seems to never progress in a meaningful or logical way. I never thought about it that way, but yeah, that's exactly what it's like. April was always supposed to be their connection to the outside normie human world, but April being like their weird awkward little sister works really well.

I'm referring mostly to the linework/whatever brush is being used to clean it up. I like that clean vector look, but it's not the kind of thing that is easily achievable in Flash, but it doesn't look like Toonbom "Wander Over Yonder" lines either.

People don't remember how to animate. It's like the shift from cell animation to digital gave everyone amnesia and barely anyone remembers how to have fluid in animation, and creative shot compositions anymore.

The plot only sometimes progresses. Like on 8 minute episode everr 15 or so episodes there will be something that actually hints at what the foot are doing, or what Draxum is trying to do, or what is going on with Splinter.

Then it's right back to 10 episodes was wacky filler about returning a dvd, or making a cake again.

Damn show has gone on for about 50 episodes as we still have no fucking clue what her dynamic with them even is.

It obviously isn't as fluid as those webm's constantly, but you can definitely tell whoever the animation director is REALLY knows what they're doing, even when there's not much movement. The variety of shots and interesting angles is unlike any other currently airing cartoon. It reminds me a lot of Motor City, if you're familiar with that show at all.

I think I prefer that first one.

The guy in charge of the series' art direction has quite a pedigree. He was a storyboard artist on Motor City, the Plastic Man pilot, Genndy's Clone Wars, Sym-Bionic Titan, and did some uncredited storyboard work on the original Samurai Jack. It really fucking shows that he's from the last generation of cartoon artists and not the current one.

It's not just about animation. Good animation, design, and storyboarding are no substitutes for writing. I find basically the same webm's getting posted and the same discussion for the series every time on here. The show is just kinda like a wild flash of lightning that you awe at and then proceed on your way.

Gotta agree with this, it's got all the ingredients for a great show except for engaging, sincere writing. I'm hoping that having Shredder as a constant looming threat will improve things. It's pretty common for the first season of anything to be relatively weak.

I kinda chuckle at some of the sass and sarcasm that Donnie in this series uses and find this Leo to be the most fun one in a long time, but season 1 is just kind of suffering from lame writing that would better fit an adventure time style show. I like the writing, but it would benefit more from a dead serious villain who's not into joking around. Hopefully Shredder is that villain.

In terms of animation, maybe. TF animated has a lot more of a slow pace to help build up for a suspenseful showdown and big reveal of the mystery behind Sari. Rise is more about short episodes that have quick callbacks to other past episodes following an overarching plot that you have to follow in order to understand what's going on.

As much as I enjoy Rise it would definitely benefit from a full episode format instead of split into two. Nothing has room to breathe or have any weight behind it. It's too shallow and breakneck right now. If they don't change it up so it can slow down and develop some depth then I'm probably just going to get too bored and drop it. Good action can only carry you so far.
That said, as much as everyone seems to despise the redesigns and shifted dynamics those are two of my favourite parts. I love how visually distinct the turtles are now. I love how Raph is a big doting brother and struggling leader. I love how Splinter is kind of a deadbeat. I love how Donnie is pretty much out of his goddamn mind. Change is important. You can't just keep doing the same things over and over again.
Regardless of if I continue watching, the creators have my respect for having the balls to shake things up and put up with all the endless bitching and whining.

Other than the fact that Leo, Mikey, and Donnie's limbs and torsos are slimmer, how do they look like frogs?

Most people with animation degrees nowadays are "storyboard artists" taught in art schools like calarts that simple designs and animations are better and preferable because animation is hard and expensive and companies want to save money.

This show (and glitch techs for that matter) is different than most because it's animated inhouse at Titmouse, an american animation studio, rather than going for the cheap, outsourced Korean studios most shows opt for.

Didn't she got better? But yeah, it's hit or miss with that artist.

Actually Rise is animated by an Australian studio, Flying bark. Glitch Techs seems like it has a couple different studios working on it. One is flying bark and another I believe is based in France.

I know Raph's whole theme is based on squares but I really hope they make his design just a little less wide as the series moves forward. It occasionally reaches a point where he just looks like someone stretched him horizontally. I like that he's huge but some scenes irk the fuck out of me.

yeah his frame is kinda weird when you put him next too other characters. i can't describe it very well but sometimes when he's in a scene he just feels too big horizontally, like it's cool that he's the big muscle brother, but at the same time he looks too bulky or stretched.

It's pretty standard practice for character designs to change after the first season or two, like with Gumball or The Simpsons. I hope they recognize that Raph as he is now throws off the entire scene. If they just narrowed him down to more realistic proportions he'd look exponentially better.

Casey's not as cool as they've told us, and they always end up defanging him for a long period of time, just to go back to a not-as-cool Casey after a while. Might as well use this latest iteration to shake it up and make her an edgelord.
