No because unless writers badly fuck up and make the plot ALL about the romance then romance is never the primary thing. Sure some people will rage over the big classic relationships being broken up but they won't leave in droves.

And I think there really needs to be more experimentation with polygamy in comics. Kinda dumb how even those british writers refused to touch the subject, like writing about rape and all kinds of horror isn't beneath them but polygamy is.

It would be a stretch for some old iconic characters to be up for polygamy but not TOO much of a stretch imo. But for any younger characters who don't have a "totally monogamist for life" vibe just go for it.

Doing these kind of romance issues or even going for full on smut might actually create a small boom period of some kind.
