I've finally graduated and now loafing about praying for job applications. What's your take binging RWBY? Did I miss the hype train, if there was ever one? I'm fairly tolerant of "bad" shows, if I can understand what makes them *fun* to watch.

If you like fight scenes and colorful characters the show might be for you, but the story, character interactions, and world building are a mess. The earlier volumes are good, peaking at volume 3, and then decline around volumes 4 and 5. It's probably better to binge the series just to get 4 and 5 out of the way in one go. Right now the show just finished it's 6th volume (which was an improvement over the last two) and the fandom has died down since it's finale. The fanbase will inevitably come back around volume 7's premiere so you haven't missed much.

Honestly the fight scenes of earlier seasons were great and it showed how Monty really cared about the series. But RWBY proved to us that it was just a computer animated show that any of us with some talented and smarts could make it ourselves with enough cash.

The show was just that, it was a low quality based show that tried to make it seem like an anime but it just did not work out due to the company mistreating people and how monty's whole activities were actually more questionable via workload.

His attitude towards work was close to workaholic when it was mentioned that he was like a robot. He would do a lot of work and then rest and then go at it again. Rarely taking breaks. That's a hostile work motivation and really just dangerous to do.

If you watch Volumes 1 and 2 understanding they had a budget of about $7 spread over both you can somewhat appreciate the effort. You also need to watch them to gain maximum payoff for V3, which is the best of the series by a huge margin.

From then onwards the budget is much bigger, but multiple other areas of the series take a massive dip in already questionable quality. V4 is pointless, just read a synopsis. V5 and 6 both start promisingly, but quickly run out of steam at the midway point.

Volume 1 had 2 really good fights, a handful of decent fights (decent by Monty standards at least meaning still better than almost everything in 4 and 5), the best Opening, and 1 really well written episode, and that's about it.

The rest was about as cringe as it gets. Don't get me wrong. Some of that cringe almost make it endearing but even with all of Volume 5's fuck ups, it had enough good in it that I put it above 1.

People who think Volume 1 is better than any volume besides 5 need to rewatch volume 1 in order to shatter their rose colored glasses they've developed.

Rwby's fun. It's not good by several standards, or even mediocre in others, but it's still perfectly enjoyable. It does also have its moments... they're just Moments but still... Super strength is still just strength, superspeed is just speed, and so forth. It's still going to freak people out if we suddenly saw an actually superman tier human show up IRL and utterly break our concept of normal.

Late to the thread but RWBY is a great show to binge watch. Early on the fights are good and the characters are fun if not basic, and it's an easy setting to get into, and by the end of the first volumes you can judge whether you're invested or not to continue.
Unfortunately It gets really dumb during the volumes where they try to focus on certain things they failed to setup and show.

What ruined the show was Blake getting like three fucking seasons all to herself that the writers did absolutely nothing with.

And then they kill off (allegedly) Adam, the one character who DID get developed over those three seasons.

Weiss got a little development. We should see at least some payoff with them finally at Atlas. Unless they fuck it up, which they very well might. But 6 was an improvement so hopefully if that continues well get something acceptable.

The writing, in general, is pretty mediocre overall. The drop in quality of it being a action-adventure comedy turning into a bad afterschool woke drama. Just isn't as appealing anymore.

I stopped watching this show after the creator died. (Season 2?) It just seemed kinda disrespectful that they kept it going without him, even if he had a plan drawn out for future story arcs.

Just watched the first episode and to be honest I'm a little disappointed. It's like they tried to make Minions but with RWBY characters.

You should just binge all of them. They are 3-5mins on average. If you've watched the actual show, then you might appreciate them overall. At one point during the last couple of seasons, I preferred Chibi.

Qrow's deal is that his fight against Salem and all he's done is pointless since she's immortal.

I don't get the big deal. It's like most of the real world's problems. It can't be solved but it can be controlled or at least made tolerable. The real problem is that Ozpin was shady about it because burgers have a fascination with leaders lying because the truth is too much for the subordinates to handle.

Honestly the most surprising thing about this death battle is how much RWBY lore info they explicitly stated for the first time like ice dust is wind + water.

I like the idea that the whole time dilation is achieved by using lightning dust in combo with her semblance. My question is why we’re learning this info in fucking death battle of all places?

Hazel should've been the one to cut Yang's arm off. Hazel has more simularities to Yang than Adam as far as semblance dealing with anger, family issues and their opions in Ozpin. And Adam should've been dealt with by Weiss and Blake.
