It annoys (you)
Designs
Songs are catchy
And characters are interesting.
Mostly good music, verging on fantastic in certain cares. Interesting art style backing up weird world building.
A reminder that Noodles is a cake and 2D is a balding burned out Star whose eyes have whitened out from drug use.
Good fucking art
It's shitty music backed up by okay character design that's popular because of the novelty of an animated band and nostalgia
If evrythting is crazy nothing is crazy. They roll with it good.
Nu-Noodle is definitely some sort of nympho dominatrix. This is the face of a woman who has a naked man bound and gagged in her room.
Well, I DO want to have her stomp out my cummies with her boots and do dreadful things to my prostate.
We were 12 when we found out about them.
Their first album is legit great and comfy
Demon Days is super edgy but not bad
Rest is meh to okay
I like the music
>your son calls me mommy too
Okay thread you didn't start off with dumping the copious amounts of lewd and cropped porn you probably have of Noodle. A bit surprised honestly.
But now let's cut the fucking chase and start posting those.
Because you really really don't care about the music if you're honest with yourself, are you?
It's for 12 year olds
SATANISTS
>it's coming up, it's coming up
Good music?
>critically loved
>normies like the hits
>cool MVs and shit
whats not to love?
fuck *vivrating dildos*
TV show fucking when???
Ya wanna give that one last try, sport?
Wholesome.
I liked the music, nowadays the group only stands up for the animation.
It was a neat thing for the first album and Demon Days. Plastic Beach wasn't supposed to be a Gorillaz project, rather a separate collaboration between Albarn and Hewlett, but the demand was there so they said fuck it. Then EMI cucked the music video for Rhinestone Eyes.
Today, Gorillaz serves as a brand for Damon Albarn to shill his solo projects under, because no one cares about him as the one dude from blur.
An animated band that had fantastic music for the first three albums.
Characters had a great dynamic well, mostly 2D and Murdoc and there's actually some lore to the band and their world.
Lately they've fallen from grace with the shitstain that was Humanz but are kinda starting to come back with The Now Now, which was alright.
Also Noodle got hot over the years.
Now Now and Humanz were ok-ish
1000 cock stare
Humanz was fucking garbage because Albarn’s daughter picked all the guest artists
Is Murdok still in jail?
I wanna noodle nude Noodle while she canoodles with my lewd noodle.
The appeal used to be: a living breathing animated band that produced good music and accompanying visuals, had a surprisingly deep story and lore. Now the only redeemable quality is the art.
Nah, he's out now.
There wasn't much fanfare when it happened, so it's understandable that you'd miss it.
I wish they did more with Ace while he was still with the band.
Cute
>tfw I've only ever listened to "Feel Good Inc."
Their newer stuff is pretty dope.
youtube.com
sounds like shit
Well that's just cause you got shit tastes. Cause, ya know, you're shit.
Great music, Great art and decent story.
Whats not to love?
Wow, way to recommend a shit song
Listen to some of their deep cuts off of Demon Days and Plastic Beach, everything new by them ranges from absolute shit, to passable but nothing special.
people mainly want to have sex with 2d or noodle
I want Noodle to take me backstage at a concert and peg me.
story is decent but it's kind of all over the place in terms of how accessible it is to people. you have to go looking for it.
the appeal was mainly the art and music for years and i didn't even know they it had a proper story to the characters only when rumours started floating around they would be coming back and i watched a youtube video on it and then did a little light browse through the wiki
Phase 1 had the coolest looking art. I wish jamie kept doing the thick lines that put emphasis on the fact they’re cartoons
Nah, what needs is something like this.

Posted the Superior Virtual band
They are, in fact, NOT my favorite martian.
Best song?
Thank you for the recommendations, anons! Really do appreciate it.
>there are people on this board right now who don't know about your favorite martian
I forget this board keeps getting younger everyday.
The only good achievement they've made is pissing off RYM trannies.
That's the thing that ticked you off? Not the fact that he's listed as 31?
Okay I googled it
>Yourfavoritemartian (or YFM) was a music channel created by Ray William Johnson in March 2006, though nothing was uploaded to the channel until almost five years later. The channel currently has over half a billion total video views and 2.3 million subscribers. It is in the top 2,500 most subscribed channels on YouTube, having been the 28th most subscribed and the most subscribed music channel on YouTube at one point. The channel had much anticipation ever since it was first mentioned. The first official video of the channel, a music video called "My Balls," was released on January 26, 2011 and, a week after uploading, had 6.5 million views, eventually taking its place as one of the most viral videos in YouTube history.
>2011
>young
You're right, you are pretty young.
>this is the face of someone who realized they are about to lose their anal virginity
YES!
YES!
January 26, 2011 was over 8 years ago at this point, bud
He's not actually that short (i think) but he's still a bit of a manlet. Remember those Phase 1 heels? Meanwhile 2D is massive, but has shit posture
It's impolite to talk to your elders that way, you whippersnapper.
*starts lawnmower at 8am on a saturday*
For me, it's 2D's booty.
I don't know what to think of the new songs, someone tell me what to think please.
I fucking love their music
Like their previous material, Gorillaz continues to be eclectic and experimental. Some of it is great, some is okay, some is meh, some is bad, but the important thing is it's all different. That's all they ever promised.
They left how he survived as a bit of a sequel hook for the next phase though. I'd like to see the Boogieman again.
Good music, strong aesthetic, great animated videos.
The actual lore and backstory doesn't make a whole lot of sense because of how all over the place it all is, but I still think the individual characters are fun.
I think every album has its own charm, even Humanz. They can be pretty apples and oranges though.
I have a soft spot for phase the first two out of sheer nostalgia. But I thought Plastic Beach was when they were having the most fun with the fantastical aspects of all the character designs and how they tied into the weird themes of the videos.
Like how Cyborg Noodle was the only character that was consistently animated in 3D to visually separate her from the rest of the cast.
music is gud and so is the art
what's not to like?
They peaked at Plastic Beach and their new album does not exist to me.
Did they give up on the animated series again? What happened story wise in the newest album? Are they making another or are they done for another 10 years?
>Did they give up on the animated series again?
Probably? I feel like a movie or a series has been something that's been teased since the beginning, but inevitably always gets delayed without any real update. Who knows?
>What happened story wise in the newest album?
Murdoc went to prison claiming he was framed for smuggling by a gangster named El Mierda, and had a big Skype ARG where fans participated in helping with his convoluted breakout. The rest of the band was pretty much better off, and replaced him with Ace. But without Murdoc around to put him down, 2D became much cockier and outspoken. Part of the ARG then entailed convincing Noodle to hunt down El Mierda and attack his hideout in Patagonia to prove Murdoc's innocence. She was ready to leave Murdoc to rot after everything he did in the past, but he led her to believe that El Mierda might have been responsible for the recent shift in 2D's behavior through supernatural means, so she agrees to help for 2D's sake. She receives a notice that he actually went to prison over unpaid parking tickets and bitching at the judge, and would have gotten out in a few days. She eventually finds out that El Mierda was retired from crime the whole time, and that Murdoc set up the whole thing for attention out of his fear to be forgotten.
Meanwhile Murdoc continues his big dramatic jailbreak none the wiser, and ends up supposedly drowning in the prison sewer while tunneling out. He suddenly shows up later, not knowing how he survived, but remembering a glimpse of a strange dark image. He feels like he has to start making amends for the past and realizes that Noodle was declaring a suicidal one-woman war on El Mierda's hideout because of what he did. He ships himself to Patagonia with a note requesting that El Mierda take him instead and spare Noodle. Noodle intercepts him, unconscious, half frozen, and tied to a yak, and they head home.
>will trade thong for adopted daughter
the mvs connected together by a narrative
Just a disembodied singing head.
>All this hate for Humanz
I can't be the only one that unironically loved Saturnz Barz.
Saturn Barz and Strobelite are great
Ascension and Momentz are kinda good
The rest is whatever
They should build on "The Rejects" concept by making them be the poster-child for those dark weird songs that are hard to translate live.
DoYaThing is the finale in my eyes; band's finally together after years of being apart, still up to the same ol' shit as always. Perfect way to send them off into the sunset.
it's less that Humanz was outright bad, it's just that quite a few of it's songs don't really feel like Gorillaz songs at all, the ones that do however are great
Saturnz Barz, Strobelite, Busted and Blue, and Ticker Tape were pretty good.
It's just that a lot of Humanz doesn't sound like something Gorillaz made, it sounds closer to something generic you'd hear on the radio.
And not enough of 2D singing.
None
[press the button to begin]
Seems like Noodle is the only human being he genuinely cares about.
nerds that think they're hip
So if there is a next album it's Murdoc redemption arc?
He's 5'4 but in his cuban boots, 5'7. He's a manlet. Only in more recent incarnations is he taller and it's stupid.
Woah!
I remember everyone flipping their shit over noodle pantsu.
The first two albums were good music. The third one was kind of shit, partially because they got a little high on their own farts. 4th album is alright, but just doesn’t reach the heights the first 2 did.
The MVs were pretty cool overall.
Standout character designs with lots of personality.
>she's like a neglected daughter to me
Helps explain why he made a robo-replacement when he thought he got her killed.
I maintain people were just pissed off because they ended a long hiatus with what amounted to a Gorillaz themed mixtape. If Now Now was first, and then Humanz followed the year after, I think people would have liked it more.
I want a proper Noodle duet/duel video.
He also brought the yak home and named her Madonna. Important plot detail.
No music videos fill me with nostalgia quite like oldschool Gorillaz.
All My Loife
I miss DA BAAATH.
There was no greater travesty than the artists completely dumping all the narrative of Plastic Beach for Humanz which was all around a lack luster sequel of an album that desperately needed a narrative anchor to make the album sound more consistent.
While a part of me thinks it's silly to get too invested with the "lore" considering how much of it feels like it's being made up on the fly, I was pretty disappointed that they basically ended Plastic Beach on a cliffhanger and just vaguely addressed how it ended off-screen.
They're bringing back the idea of Murdoc needing a redemption arc at the very least, but Plastic Beach was fun because it was basically about him going batshit insane. With demons, pirates, and everyone in the band that he wronged finally catching up to him. Shame they didn't give it much pay-off.
she's literally 2 years younger than me in the canon. don't call her a cake. fuck, I'm old.
This is pretty much a mixtape I did a couple years ago to improve on Humanz, tell me what you think.
1. Intro (Penthouse)
2. She's My Collar
3. Submission
4. Charger
5. Saturnz Barz
6. Ticker Tape
7. Sleeping Powder
8. Momentz
(elevator going up)
9. Andromeda
10. Busted and Blue
11. Out of Body
12. Strobelite
13. The Apprentice without the edgy rap
Might see if I can upload it somewhere if anyone's interested.
Not bad. I actually liked Let Me Out though.
I don't get how re-arranging song order improves an album.
Beyond the first album? Nothing.
As far as recs go, this is my favorite from the latest album
Gorillaz to me just sounds like Damon Albarn really wishing he was Thom Yorke and failing even though he lets an army of other musicians do the heavy lifting for him.
Whatever happened to that show they were supposed to get awhile ago? I remember Yea Forums talking about it back when Saturn Barnz first came out.
It has a great hook, but most of the guest rappers ruined the album. They just can't work with the Gorillaz sound. Danny Brown fits well. Del, obviously. Saturn Barz guy was alright. The political message was also too on-the-nose and will age like milk.
Mostly the music desu, but the animation and art has always been great and both has evolved alongside eachother, their newest stuff is truly great both musically and animationwise.
it's Yea Forums pretentiousness where they just sit down and listen to an album in order from start to finish and nothing else, as if they have nothing better to do.
Several tracks were removed actually, so were all the useless interludes. Rearranging tracks can help the flow of things. For instance, there's vinyl crackling at the end of Ticker Tape, which blends well with the beginning of a song that wasn't even released with the album, Sleeping Powder, that keeps the same mellow vibe until it explodes into a jam. Then comes Momentz.
I wouldn't say the edit's good or anything, I just didn't make it a dumpster fire.
I meant that in general sense, not just Humanz. Unless it's egregious, I don't really care about how songs are ordered on an album.
Most of the time I listen to them in alphabetic order and I don't really feel a difference between that and album's default order.
FEEL GOOD
>shake it shake it
she has tits now
booty quake it
What's the WORST song that gorillaz has put out?
I'm voting for youtube.com
>psychobilly gorillaz
Yes please
>No Andromeda
Humility was good, and Hollywood was alright, but honestly that whole album just kind of blended together for me. Not bad I guess, just unremarkable. Perhaps I need to give it another listen.
>Hollywood was alright
Heh
based
Based and heartpilled
I lost interest in them following Humanz and the Now Now
So, after completely catching up on them?
I remember when humility first came out and everyone was lusting after 2ds ass.
>The third one was kind of shit, partially because they got a little high on their own farts.
I actually came around on Plastic Beach a bit. It's not as good as the first two but it's certainly much better than what came after. That song with Little Dragon is great.
I’ve seen this artist around a bunch, he imitates the style pretty well
Really? I had assumed it was official.
I loved a lot of Plastic Beach honestly.
to make blur fans angry because damon prefers an anime band over woohoo band
Humanz hate is just a meme made by bandwagoners
Better question, whats your favorite song that you didnt think you would like and wouldnt normally like, but for whatever reason you really like it?
Wot are you talking about, Plastic Beach is the best album
I didn't know what the hell to think of Saturnz Barz when I first heard it, but it really grew on me.
*blocks your path*
Phase 4's story was certainly hectic to say the least. Too ambitious for its own good. Music videos, radio and magazine interviews, a fully interactive point and click adventure game that tied into the story of the album... As off the cuff and improvised as the story seemed, it's actually one of the more straight forward stories they've ever tried to tell. Sadly, the battle of Plastic Beach (Rhinestone Eyes) and the clash between the Evangelist and the Boogeyman had to be cut short due to budget issues, would've been nice to see the story and the online game properly wrap itself up...
Though, the online game got fucked pretty early on due to the ravenous fanbase; there was an elevator that was flooded with water which granted access to the rest of the island, only way to clear it was with a bucket, and the game provided a counter to show how many bucketfuls it would take to clear the elevator. If I'm not mistaken, the number was in the millions, and granted, each user that scooped some water out would knock the number down for everyone else. Since one bucket would take around 10 sec to use it was gonna take a while, so someone developed a program to circumvent this, shortening down something which was supposed to take months into like a week or so. Obviously this must've fucked over the developers as they were hoping to get that extra time to properly develop and design the rest of the island, and the game never really recovered, all subsequent updates took months upon months to arrive, and eventuality they stopped all together.
Ace barely did anything. He was in what, two videos and that's it?
Wish they had gotten his old voice actor back for something at least.
Really? Didn't know that the game updated over time like that. I never really looked into the extra story material back then. Shame they didn't archive it and work at it at their own pace.
I appreciate the fan-made Rhinestone Eyes vid.
Where is the animated series?
His VA looks like he would have been down for it, judging by this video.
>it sounds closer to something generic you'd hear on the radio
Sorry but we all need to talk about this, because I keep hearing this sentence as a go-to conversation ender and I keep thinking "what radio do those assholes listen too". Like it's so obviously the mark of somebody who has absolutely given their back to pop culture, because for better or worse Gorillaz hasn't sounded anything like the radio in a very long time. They're doing their own thing. Nothing groundbreaking sure, but still different to the mainstream.
I put on The Now Now for the first time during a road trip, and the entire album played and it all sounded like one song. I was pretty disappointed by that one.
Limbo.
IT'S DEAAAAGHHHH
IT'S AMUSING THAT WE'RE JEWS!!!!

Entartete, all of it
UUURGH, IT'S DAAAAAAAARE
>6´9
why does he look so small now the only person that is smaller than him in picture is noodle
What even plays on the radio nowadays?
I don't think I've listened to it in forever.
Mostly just have my CD's on.
Yup, game released when the album did, so around March 2010, bucket incident happened, developers released a statement saying "April-ish would be the next release, turned out that meant April 2011, then the Evangelist showed up in a disguise to deliver a message from the devs stating the next update would come "May-ish", but it never came. It was a cool thing that's lost to the ages like both versions of Kong Studios, relic of a different kind of internet.
Humanz is very clearly a scaled down, somewhat unambitious attempt at main steam success, people liken it to the radio because songs on their are very much similar.
Actually is the cyborg noodle still around? I haven't heard/seen much from gorillaz in a long time.
The lore is kind of inconsistent with her, but she supposedly went a little haywire from the bullet hole in her head and lost a fight to Noodle after trying to kill Murdoc. Noodle proceeded to use her head as a flower pot.
But she apparently got repaired at some point afterward and went off to do her own thing.
sauce?
oh yeah sorry I was talking about The Now Now lol anyway pretty ignored album considering it tried to more or less undo all their fan's criticism because of Humanz. I happened to a band I liked back in the day called Dover, who switched to electropop after making a name for themselves with grunge and the fans never let that shit go. Last album they go back to their hardest roots, after a good deal of experimenting with african influences that nobody liked, and not a single fan cared. Kind of sad end to a band that scored some good hits.
El conejo malo chico.
Noodle has for some reason never turned me on until, like, right now today and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the art style? Whatever the reason I would pump this , this , this and oh my god fucking hell yes this full of cum all day long.
Isn't she even biologically a few years younger than she would be chronologically because she spent a few years in some dimension where time passes differently? Not too into the lore, but I think something like that happened.
Isn't she nearly 30?
She's 28 I believe.
Damn, it really has been almost 20 fucking years since Gorillaz started.
Jesus Christ I feel old.
Murdoc had a bad trip where he thought that she fell into Hell after her El Manana disappearance, but I don't recall her actually dimension jumping.
Not that it'd be the weirdest thing they've done.
Did you see the fan vid for rhinestone eyes? I think it's a more than acceptable attempt at animating the storyboard. The best part about current year +4 imo
The music, you clod.
Best post
Isn't Noodle trans now?
What do you expect when she grows up in the same house as Murdoc Niccals?
No. Don't listen to tumblr.
Just tranz.
Why are blonde Asians so hot?
Transhumanist maybe.
Why did she look so bored in that video?
you weird.
Is there some artbook collecting all the illustrations? It's the only thing I'm interested in when it comes to Gorillaz
They look like how their listeners want to look but without being bullied at school for it.
All of that sounds retarded. A music band needing deepest lore is bad enough but people actually analyzing all that shit? Incredible.
Noodle is too androgynous. People who like her are in the closet.
make a Gorillaz comic already Jamie
Not since she went through puberty
i thought murdoc was some sort of immortal historical parasite, where the fuck did i get that from
I want to be that naked bound man
The cartoons are ageless and perfect for high school kids.
He used to be an immortal guy who got resurrected all the time, despite having a set birth date and location, but that got retconned.
The lore was never that consistent and it was all over the place anyway.
Well he made a Faustian contract with one of the horsemen of the apocalypse and apparently survived drowning in a sewer through some weird supernatural means. So there's that.
I think its his soul that keeps coming back. Not his body.
Good music, good art
WTF does this pic make me think of based Yoko? Also,
