It's okay, all things considered. The production values are fairly consistent all the way through the show, the action's fine, and the characters are likable.
Unfortunately, it starts to lose focus after the first two seasons, and shits the bed in the last third of its run, mostly due to a combination of convenient writing, production issues, and the showrunners being hacks.

Enjoyable imo. Lots of nice giant robot fights, good animation, great character chemistry, good story arcs, and a lot of comedy while still keeping a serious tone when necessary.
Don't agree with some of the story direction, but I do like the final results, in general
People complaining about shipping are being really nitpicky. There were precisely two ships that happened. One was so minor that it affected absolutely nothing, and the other was a well-done if rushed romance with a tragic ending.
There is one. single. gay main character on the show, the fact that he is gay is almost never brought up, and people still insist that it ruins the show.

It was pretty solid up into the final two seasons. Lotor will go down as as one of my favorite antagonists of all time and the Shiro reveal in season 6 gave me goosebumps and the final fight was absolutely amazing. Then it went to shit. Such a sad end to a pretty decent show.
