I don't give a fuck about whether any of these will win an Oscar (they won't). I'm just overjoyed that there has been a steady stream of independent/foreign animated films most of which are traditionally animated since at least 2015. It blows my mind how much good shit we've gotten.
It’s not like Hollywood has any award-worthy animated movies this year.
This is what annoys me when people will only talk about what Disney or Illumination makes and competently say everything is shit
Well yeah, same reason most pop music is irredeemable. The future is independent and we need more threads about it. Tons of good shit
This movie was made by ONE person.

Why is it always boring artsy fartsy stuff?
That is an aggressively underwhelming pile of movies. 2019 is gonna be remembered as bland as fuck for western animation at this rate.
All of those look like beautiful pretentious borefests.
Still better than the soulless corporate crap from US studios.
Maybe.
Reminds me of Red Turtle
Who the fuck cares, did we get any more news about Looney Tunes Cartoons?
It starts in June 10 with Mummy Dummy, then Wet Cement, followed by The Curse of the Monkey Bird. Bugs and Daffy are both voiced by Eric Bauza. That's we all know.
Newfag question here, where can I watch these movies? I can't find them online and I live on a third world shithole so it's not like just going to my local theater. I'd like to get hyped with this festival, but I can't If I haven't seen at least some of them before.
Your best bet is a DVD/BD release in France or UK (one of them will have english subs, the other will not...... likely).
if you wait long enough they'll end up on kimcartoon, and in the meantime you can watch similar movies from 2018, 2017, 2016, etc.
I didn't realize the situation was so dire.
Just like 2017
It may not be boring.
My life as a Zucchini is probably my favorite film of the 2010s and my favorite film since Mary and Max, my all time favorite film
Either broaden your horizons or stop complaining you twat
You don't know my horizons. I watch things from all around the world, and I just happen to know most of those qrtistique looking europe productions are boring as fuck, with only the visual style going for them. If you don't give me interesting characters and good story, I won't be moved.
literally the only good one in that image is HTTYD 3
I can name 4 things I have not seen that might be good:
>Spies in Disguise
>Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
>Missing Link
>and a 4th one I won't name
I hear La fameuse invasion des ours en Sicile (The Bear Invasion of Sicily) is pretty good
user in Annecy here, who would be interested in photos/exploration of the festival grounds?
Feel free to post away, but if the festival itself gets barely any traction or interest, I doubt that its grounds will get any at all.
