Bismuth's whole shtick was that Steven found her bubbled in his mom's stuff and let her out. Everyone was fucking THRILLED to see her again, they all thought she died in the war. She was their blacksmith and buddy-buddy with everyone. Turns out the reason she was bubbled was that she tried to kill Rose when she heard that she wanted to take a pacifist approach with homeworld. She tried to kill Steven thinking he's Rose in disguise and got pretty close before he showed her the power of friendship.
