Robin is dick grayson

The girls' names were their actual names.

Raven sure but Starfire's real name is Koriand'r.

>Koriand'r
What is this Saiyan pun name shit?

Well, obviously no one calls her that. They just call her Kori.

>when your name us the ghetto spelling of a fucking spice

I mean. When you're, an orphan trained by a billionaire to fight crime, an alien that can shoot energy beans, a half demon half human mystic, a literal cyborg and a green teen who can literally transform in any creature. I feel like you give up and semblance of being normal and don't have time for things like names.

If you were a superhero with super roommates would you use your supernames or your real names in most situations?

>Cyborg goes by his last name Stone when undercover at HIVE
>Starfire's dad greets her by name when the Titans visit her planet
>The Doom Patrol greet BB by his own name, Garfield
>Raven is Raven, period

They know their names. They just don't really have a reason to use them.

Starfire is the English translation of Koriand'r so it is her actual name.

Super names but I don’t like my name, people get it wrong a lot

Her sister Blackfire’s name is Komand’r (commander) and her father’s is Myand'r (meander). Her mother’s was Luand’r and her brother was Ryand’r, both of those not being puns but having English names in them (Luanne and Ryan).

I feel like the goofy names clash with the sex slave backstory.

Rachel Roth is ravens real name.

Is it a real name or a nonsense word your parents thought was "cute".

Yeah cause of a dumb retcon

Real name, I’m named after my grandfather and his father, but not my father, I could have been a “The Fourth”I don’t even get that

I thought they used their superhero names as a security measure. Though it is weird when Starfire gets emotional and says Robin instead of Dick/Richard

It's an alias she uses, not her real name.

Roth is her real last name, but her mother named her Raven and Rachel has always been a really stupid alias.

"Robin" is at least a real name that people can have, so it doesn't feel super cold.

Calling your friend Cyborg when you know his real name is Vic though, I dunno

All names were just made up once.

Vic Mignona? :)

I was with my gf for a full year without knowing her last name, and only recently found out she has a brother

Robin and Beast Boy were raised by old school superheroes so they don't give out their real names
Starfire is the english translation of Starfires name, Raven is Ravens real name and Cyborg doesn't associate himself with 'Victor Stone' anymore so he never brings it up

Actually most of the show seson 1-5 take about a year of their year. I mean they have not spent as much time in the show as we think they have.

But it wasn't done arbitrarily you smug prick

why do people hate this name? it fits her

Isn't Robin a girl's name

My actual name could work but I need to fight an X-men for it.

Gotta try to fuck up Bishop just use my own name.

No? Names if you REALLY go far back enough were descriptive and utilitarian. John Smith was named so because John being a biblical name, and smith being family profession. Hell even John having a real meaning in biblical times. But yes nowadays people just pull shit out of a hat. Don’t even get me started on black naming conventions.

>I thought they used their superhero names as a security measure
Which ones? You could excuse that one with Robin because Batman (that actually is the excuse they used in Young Justice to explain why Robin didn't tell the others about his secret identity, although it didn't last because he revealed it anyway) but Beast Boy's parents are dead, Starfire's ones too and we don't know if Silas Stone even exists.

Robin Williams

Whenever I have a kid I'm going to name them something incredibly stupid just to fuck with them

Bullshit. When did they do this? That's dumb as fuck, I thought it was an alias

After Flashpoint. Not sure exactly when though.

All language is arbitrary sounds strung together that someone decided meant something.
And the descriptive words were made up if you go even farther back. You think "John" isn't just some syllables that some guy decided "That means me."?

Nobody decided "John means me."
John, like most common names, was a standard word or phrase later taken as a name.
John's original Hebrew form meant "God has shown favor." It was taken as a name because parents would want God to show their children favor. And later taken by non-Hebrews in homage to prior bearers of the name, like John the Baptist.
La'klaneesha is a fake name because it means nothing else. It's not a word.

All of that is made up.

It goes with the show's aesthetic of never showing their lives outisde of hero work, which is also why you never see them wearing civvies.

Robin Hood says hi.

No, its fact you retard.

But they werent made up to be names first, thats the point you idiotic mong.

Fuck off back to R3ddit you stupid niggerfaggot poltard

Use supernames most of the time because let's face it, they're kind of like nicknames. When shit gets serious, I would address them with their real names.

Is a superhero name even a superhero name when you live 24/7 with your superhero team and on your superhero costume? I mean, at this point they pretty much just changed identity and left civilian life behind. When people debate if this Robin is Dick, Jason or Tim they are all wrong, he is Robin.
