You cheeky bastard! Though I must admit, that was a good joke.

Who /fag/ here?

Starting off with a cursed shelf.

One of the hellboy fags here, I'll wait to post my cursed image in a proper /shelf/ thread

I regret giving money to the sinfest fag, but it used to be a nice webcomic when I bought it.
There's also a complete Don Rosa collection, but there wasn't any more room.

Very gay

Just placed an order for Judge Anderson: The Psi Files 2. Been looking for it for over a year.

Why sideways? A spoiled /shelf/ deserves to be showcased properly, user.

I can't even tell what comics you have

Yo, Venom fangirl here to the user who asked for more Movie!Venom figures. Hot Toys is going to be releasing some figures based on the movie, including one showing Tom Hardy's Eddie.

Greetings, friends. Updated shelf with just a panorama. Give me your thoughts.

Attached: Shelf June 2019.jpg (5296x2192, 3.46M)

Two questions:

Have you read all of your comics?

Do you own chapter books?

My attraction to big books makes me ask you about that big Drawn and Quarterly thingie. What is it?
Does it also bother you like it does me that DiU volume looks so different from the previous JoJo hardcovers?

Nothing special this week

>Sweetness and lightning final volume
>Batman v TMNT blu-ray
>Black Lagoon complete series
>Hellsing Ultimate
>Dimension Manuever vol 1
>Promised Neverland vol 10
>Hero academia vol 19

The only things in those pics I haven't read is almost all of the Peanuts books and like 15 or 16 of the Momes. Some day I'll get to them.

I have another entire 3 shelf bookcase and one almost full longbox of stuff that I haven't read yet because I buy it faster than I have time to read it. And yes, I own regular books but rarely read anything that isn't comics.

>Nothing special
>just over $50+

>Does it also bother you like it does me that DiU volume looks so different from the previous JoJo hardcovers?
A little, but not a lot.

>that big Drawn and Quarterly thingie. What is it?

It's an anthology book simply titled Drawn and Quarterly. It's a collection of different comics they have published celebrating their 25th anniversary. It also contains essays about the publisher and the cartoonists they have worked with.

Oh my! user, you came back!
How did your friend like the Amazing spiderman omnibus?

Also I find odd that all of dragon ball has so many realeases in english. But it is always cool to see them.

Attached: IMG_20190519_192130.jpg (3264x2448, 317K)

Is it good stuff?

Forgot to mention that I just got the ASM omnibus volume 4 delivered to me less than an hour ago from IST.

Yes, its great. If you have never read any of their comics it would be a great starting point. Its an very diverse mix of cartoonists.

ASM is SHIT

My only experience with D&Q is their gekiga translations.

Hi, Liefeld!

My bad forgot that phone uploads rotate the pic

I'll take more pics in a bit

t. seething Batfags

If you are looking for new kinds of comics to get into, that book will expose you to some great ones. You can get a used copy cheap on amazon, or a new one for $33.97, which is $16.02 off the cover price, which is a steal for an almost 800 page book like that.

>How did your friend like the Amazing spiderman omnibus?
They never finished it. Mainly my fault, it was meant to be a deal where they read ASM while I watched MHA. I never did. We also had a falling out recently, so that deal may never happen again.

hehe...yeah...

You can color me interested in this one, yes.

>they

Is your "friend" of indeterminate gender?

i'm not buying what you're selling

No. Just never specified a gender for them, so didn't want to start confusing you now, user.

Hopefully arriving today is wormwood the first few pints, and vol 2 of the damned

Having the Akira volumes in the box is a bit obnoxious, save and store the box somewhere.
Also, the Waterson is best on a bottom shelf, rather than jutting out like that. Otherwise decent. Your collection has a lot in common with mine, just less but with a lot of Spidey.

Ok, THIS is funny

He's single-handedly turning /shelf/ into a "You Mock, You Lose" thread.
(I lost)

The Calvin and Hobbes use to be next to the Spidey, but I needed room, so I moved it up. Maybe I'll move it. Same with the Akira box too. But I do really like the box.

>Having the Akira volumes in the box is a bit obnoxious, save and store the box somewhere.
I ugh.. fucking what?

Also, I need advice from the anons here. I have the Behold Galactus HC, but it's so big. Where do I put it on this shelf?

Conspiracy theories belong in /x/

Is the Canadian user here who has the new edition of Hard Travelin' Heroes?

They call it a bookshelf for a reason, it's not warehouse storage for boxes. The outer box is obnoxious, and clearly intended to protect the volumes while displayed in a store or similar situation.

you readjust your shelves and put it in a place of honor

What are some custom Yea Forums material you own?

What is the point of this threads anymore? It's always the same shelves and barely any discussion, just stop.

It was good until attention seeking faggots started ruining for it everyone. I get it, you want to make internet friends to talk about your hobbies and call eachother names whatever but keep the discord and reddit faggotry outside here pls

There is nothing wrong with DC rebirth

>It's always the same shelves and barely any discussion
I post my shelf hoping to get feedback and things I should maybe check out.

It is pure unfiltered cancer.

I disagree

Shut up autist

Even if this were true there are so many other threads you could go into and complain about. Fuck off

just let the thread die and start another in a week

Sure a lot of the same stuff is posted a lot, yet there's actual discussion on the stuff posted, next releases of lack there of, and some surprising finds that make the hunting more interesting.

It has been discussed before, if the threads die soon, Im noone to judge how often they are posted.

>reee /shelf/ is too regular
>reee let the thread die
You realize you retards can always, yknow, not post in it?

/shelf/ doesn't have enough new people in it

Not him but I think /shelf/ has turned into a meta thread where we discuss comics in general and not just admire other peoples collections. And I for one , am okay with that, since Yea Forums is now cartoons and could x far in the dcu?

Attached: 45295132746decc0d7e84ad5513dc197-700.jpg (1245x700, 160K)

wasn't trying to attention seek, just posting a shelf

This. /shelf/ is a watering hole to escape the cesspool that Yea Forums is.

He mad cause he too poor to have a /shelf/.

/shelf/ should be banned for these faggots

just marathoned 30 issues of punisher. AMA

Do you want to spend a day at the park?

>too poor to own a shelf

Also DnA are pretty good Punisher writers . Was no expecting that at all

This. They ruined /shelf/

Nah I like to see comic discussion and pics I'm no the guy complaining about that.

>actual discussion
don't make me laugh

what's wrong with Lanternfag and Ghost Riderfag?

they ruined shelf by posting regularly

Why cover all your terrible capeshit with Graphic Novels? Just own it, dude

the same as the other ones

They ruined /shelf/ by posting their shelves? But if they don't post shelves then who will?

are you actually from mexico or just mexican american?

Here's a fun take; DC cancelled the US run of the TPB of Hard Travelin' Heroes, to then re-release another hardcover edition of Hard Travelin' Heroes, but titled Vol. 1, even though Vol. 1 contains all the items that make up Hard Travelin' Heroes.

The only people “ruining” /shelf/ are the people that come in to complain about /shelf/. It’s a big catalog.

The one time I posted I was called vertigo/10 and vertigofag because my 6 foot shelf is 60% Vertigo.

new people

And when the new people post twice they won't be new people. Do you want a never-ending stream of new shelves and all of the older posters to leave?

We can agree DC printings are a mess right now. I just hope they release the second volume of Animal Man 30th anniversary, althought at this point they might drop the anniversary name.

They shouldn't post the same stuff over again and again

JUST GIVE ME COMPLETE TPB RUNS OF OSTRANDERS THE SPECTRE AND ONEILS THE QUESTION! WHAT FUCK DC, CMON.

>just hope they release the second volume of Animal Man 30th anniversary, althought at this point they might drop the anniversary name.
Never happening since Vertigo is shut down

Not in a million years.
I postponed getting it because of that same with promethea

It's only logical

Man artificial lightning fucking sucks. I'll wait for the sun tomorrow

>R.A. Salvatore
Literally who

>Doesn't know who R.A. Salvatore is.
He's a famous fantasy author. The only reason I know of him, outside of working in a bookstore, is that he was involved in that baseball player's videogame, Kingdoms of Amalur?, that nearly bankrupted a city.

They're beyond a mess. I'm worried that the last volume of Green Arrow won't be released, especially when the solicitation doesn't even involve the last 3 issues of the run. I also think you can still order the 30th Ann. Animal Man from B&N.

Damn it feels good being a True Believer

>nearly bankrupted a city
Funny if true

>famous fantasy author
I've never heard of this guy

Surprise, you are not the only person in this planet

It's a trip. Yea Forums was where I first learned about all of it. The guy who started the studio, who was a famous baseball player, blew his entire fortune.

Check him out. He's above your standard fair, from what I remember, but if fantasy is your thing, you'll probably enjoy his work.

>Post shelves

Attached: shelves.jpg (300x225, 6K)

I didn't like it either. I think BKV is one of those creepy male feminists who use feminism as a ploy to fuck women.

Missing a copy of Watchmen and a Hellboy Funko Pop. Otherwise looks good

I don't like fantasy authors who have to use apostrophes in every city or character's name

I didn't completely hate it. Let's just say I'm glad that I picked up the 10 volumes at a garage sale for a buck a piece. It simply remains on my shelf because I haven't gotten rid of it and I have nothing to replace it with yet. Much like Rat Queens, Saga, and a few others.

>Let's just say I'm glad that I picked up the 10 volumes at a garage sale for a buck a piece. It simply remains on my shelf because I haven't gotten rid of it
lol. you liked it that much huh?

personally I haven't liked anything with BKV's name on the front.

How's the quality of those fuckhuge Invincibles?

Great.

I'm really starting to lean that way. Though I have admittedly read very little of his work I haven't found much enjoyment from any yet.

Still mad about them cancelling the Hitman reprints.

I think the most I ever liked a BKV comic was Paper Girls #1. Just the first issue because of the whacky 80s adventures vibe with funny characters, and then BOOM, we're off into an incomprehensible mess of an edgy time travel sci-fi story. What a waste of Cliff Chiang

brb, burning my shelf and books to start a new collection because some anonymous stranger doesn't approve of it

His problem is that he very transparently makes characters that are mouthpieces for his personal politics and lets the rest of the comic fall to the wayside.

>inb4 you're just a bigot

No, it's annoying when a creator of any idealogy does this. There's a term for it that I can't remember right now.

glad you understand

Very well put together and sturdy. Worth the pick up.

ideologue?

What issue is the omnibus up to?

google it

Was Promethea cancelled? Or just put on hold?

Are you sure your lack of enjoyment isn't influenced by criticisms of Saga?

2008 Yea Forums would have a hard time accepting somebody who actually disliked Y. I can't say I enjoy BKV as a writer but it's still weird hearing negative things about the book, as it was universally acclaimed in comics circles back then.

>as it was universally acclaimed in comics circles back then.
what a silly thing to bring up, as though no one is allowed to dissent because some people 10 years ago liked it

No. There's a term for a creator injecting their politics into their art at the expense of a good product. Frank Miller is a pretty good example of this on the other end of the spectrum from BKV.

*shrug*

I was up to vol 4 of Y before I picked up the first volume of Saga. I'm not saying it is irredeemable garbage or anything, I'm just glad I was able to pick up 10 volumes for the price of one otherwise I would have stopped at first volume like I did Saga because it wasn't grabbing me.

Pop open the doors and show me the shelves themselves.
I'm praying that you're not stupid enough to put dozens of omnis on glass.

>it was universally acclaimed back then
>creator has released unpopular work since then
>people now dislike what used to be universally acclaimed

If someone said that Annie Hall was a terrible movie, I'd doubt the context in which they viewed it as well. I don't see it as any different.

Fair enough. It might not hold up as well as it did back then. It was the introduction to Vertigo for a lot of people back then, maybe it just felt more progressive than it does today. Rose-tinted glasses and all that.

>>it was universally acclaimed back then
that's nice. people are still allowed to dislike it. no one likes everything. there were people in letter pages bitching about Batman Year One back in the day

Are you really trying to teach me that not everyone shares the exact same taste in media?

This isn't preschool man, these things can be left unsaid.

you're the one that's incredulous at the thought that someone would dare dislike Y the last man

Filmfag here. I've always hated Annie Hall and think it sucks. Can't stand Allen's schtick.

Oh right, I forgot this thread is a hugbox where you support your fellow nerds unless they have Rebirth shelves.

What does that have to do with a comic?

Fairly thick, but I'm still not sure I'd trust it.

The author of Saga is a New York liberal and the artist is a Canadian, thus any platform they have while Trump is in office and probably while he's alive, is going to be a protest piece.

It's not unlike what happened to Vertigo after Thatcher became PM, but they had talent and some degree of subtlety.

not for sale.
since the first Balder's Gate they have always had comics, probably earlier than that. There is a current comic I sometimes grab that is half comic and half write up for a short adventure

Have fun. It took me a little while to get into it strangely, but once I did I really enjoyed it. I recently finished up Punisher: The Platoon and that was a really good read.

Oversaturation I think, we should limit these threads to once per week max

Yeah I remember seeing a bunch of trans comics people on twitter eye-rolling at the trans character in Saga. Saying it feels like a children's PSA aimed at adults

Yes, exactly. The only really great trans Yea Forums character I can think of is Lord Fanny from The Invisibles. That motherfucker is based.

Not being a dick but are you new to collecting?

Don't scare new people man

I've seen B.P.R.D. on quite a few shelves. If I just got into Hellboy and I'm enjoying it does it go without saying that I'll enjoy B.P.R.D.?

I just noticed very few complete runs and was going to make some recs.

Relatively, I started in November. Is it that obvious?

I actually prefer bprd over hellboy

A lot of people enjoy BPRD more. I feel like BPRD has more action, especially in the Hell on earth books. And you pretty much get to see how the world is going to shit and how humans are dealing with it. You dont see it that much on hellboy. BPRD also has a Bunch of more characters you dont get to see in Hellboy

Fire away with the recs. I have sheet on the side of the shelf with what I need to get in terms of continuing the runs so i'l add some recommendations on there

Yes. Finish Sandman, Transmetropolitan, and Preacher asap. Then look into Alan Moore's Swamp Thing and the 300 issue run of Hellblazer.

I just got in a huge order so I won't be picking up anything new for a while, but B.P.R.D. is now bumped up close to the top of the list.
Thanks, anons.

What's essential to understanding the universe. You can see on the shelf I've got the whole of hellboy and PoF, what do I need to read next because I know there's fucking loads of the books outside of hellboy and bprd

WBF first

BPRD Plague of Frogs is infinitely better written. One of the best runs I've ever read. It gets worse and drags after that with Hell on Earth, but Plague of Frogs is 10/10.

Does sandman get any better because I honestly wasn't all that into that first volume.

Swamp thing is on my list of things to buy. If I'm honest I'm desperate to get the rest of the hell on earth omnibus' whilst they're still in hardbacks

You only really need Hellboy and BPRD. Everything else is supplementary and frankly not nearly as good.

Cool. Here is some essential /shelf/core

>Saga of the Swamp Thing

Should I bother with the Abe sapiens then? The way plauge of frogs ended I'm curious about what his solo series is going to do. Especially with him not being in those group photos Liz was holding

Plague of Frogs is definitely on the short list now.

>>Identity Crisis
I'm one of the few people that actually likes this thing, but I'd never put it on a recommended list.
The Abe Sapien stuff in his first hardcover is alright. His ongoing series which comprise the 2nd and 3rd hardcovers and cover his activity during Hell on Earth I didn't care for at all. It wasn't *bad* but I didn't feel like I should buy it or read it again.

All this stuff is free online though so you may as well read it and make your own mind up.

>sandman get any better because I honestly wasn't all that into that first volume.
The first two volumes are quit different compared to the rest. A lot of the DCU stuff is loaded into those two.
Try volume 3. It's a bunch of short stories, and that's what the rest of the series was like. Short thematically connected stories, and then longer arcs about the Endless.

Addendum: There's a definite formula to Mignolaverse stuff that you pick up on after reading enough of the titles and it can be fatiguing. Guy goes somewhere, people act weird, monster shows up, fight the monster. Really limits the amount of stuff you feel you should bother with.

Personally I have all the BPRD Hardcovers, all the Hellboy Libraries, and the first Ape Sapien Hardcover (and this one I only got because it was half off) and that's all I'm ever going to bother owning

The Gayman was trying to imitate Alan Moore in those early issues but he caan't really do it. Issue 7 is a bit more like what the series becomes. Don't listen to that other guy. Volume 2 is really good and more in line with the rest of the series than vol 1.

Is that the one with the serial killer convention? That one might be my favorite.

>Identity Crisis buried so deeply no one would notice

Attached: 1559276033493.jpg (395x296, 20K)

Okay, think I'm still gonna try it because Abe became my favourite character during plauge of frogs.

What's everyone's beef with identity crisis? Despite what the shelf may lead you to believe I'm quite new to DC and whenever I see people talking about it they seem to chat shit without giving any reason for doin so

That was the first volume. I actually enjoyed that issue, the rest I just found really tedious

Attached: 1559774174703.jpg (479x720, 66K)

Next would be Hell on Earth but do yourself a favor and read Lobster Johnson. It's so fun. He appears in hellboy and BPRD sometimes but reading his stories are way more fun. The Lobster is a maniac and I love him for it

No, that's volume 2 The Doll's House. Silly user.

I actually enjoyed most of identity crisis, but having the killer be Atom's wife, and her motive be "im insane lol" was so stupid

Wrong. Vol 2 is the convention. The art also gets much, much better. Frankly, most of the first 6 issues is really ugly.

The convention is from The Doll's House, which was volume 2.
It is a pretty good story. It even references Hellblazer at the same time.

This was the first time I posted on here after like three years of lurking. Thanks for the recs and for not just shitting over the start of my collections.

Sidenote, I actually met Dan Abnett in April and he signed my aquaman rebirth volumes

Attached: 15597963087105481870984562855478.jpg (2448x3264, 1.54M)

Doesn't the POV serial killer from that Swamp Thing story also get referenced?

Vol 2 is the Corinthian, Vol 1 is the shit with Morpheus going around time and space collecting all the shit he lost track of while he was asleep.

Those things were literally made to safely hold dishes at least 3 times the weight of those books, you absolute fucking retard.

People usually behave around here. There are exceptions. On the recs side I'll add Concrete and Love and rockets.

You could start reading Hellboy directly with BPRD Plague of Frogs desu if you like that you could always go back and read Hellboy.

He does, a reporter was pretending to be him to get in the convention.

Why wait

>What's everyone's beef with identity crisis?
It kind of fails at being a good mystery story. It has a lot of little holes that make the story very sloppy when pointed out.
Outside of the direct narrative, it contains a bunch of retcons about the early years of the Justice League. The more Justice League related stuff from the years right before CoIE and the International/America/Europe series that you have read, the more you may dislike what Meltzer is doing to the characters.

Ennis' Punisher is my jam. If you don't like his marvel knights stuff try the max stuff since it takes it a bit more seriously. I like both but can understand it rubbing folks the wrong way.

The floppies on the left are The Shade mini run, The Shadow various issues, and Batman “Absolute Fear”

The floppies on the right are Shadowland and Daredevil singles with the Bullseye mini run

Not sure desu, I guess I never really had anything to add to the chats. I mostly lurked over on Yea Forums and Yea Forums before making Yea Forums my main board. This board was actually my favourite of all the places I lurked

Wormwood didnt come in today but the damned did, I'll try to finish this in the next few days and hopefully finally get to read wormwood this weekend

Attached: IMG_20190605_215607_340.jpg (2160x2160, 901K)

I've read both already but I guess there's no harm in going back.

What order should I read them in though if I'm doing it through the omnibus'

Don't store your books like that, you'll damage the spine, also not really a fan of most of your books, but that's a cute bear.

There is a guide on multiversitycomics.

I swear to god I never typed desu....

Ah, to be young again...

T B H gets turned into desu because it was used to shitpost

Yea Forums has some word filters that swap words.
You triggered one.

Leave while you still can

Gaiman had a huge boner for Moore in those early issues.

Why does he need to have finished runs to not be new?

Well now I feel like an exceptional individual

Ok thanks for the advice. And the Waid books are autographed so I don’t want them damaged. Yeah, I like bears.

What are people's thoughts on the ultimate universe?

It was unnecessary.

Why though?

this

There was nothing wrong with the regular universe.

Ultimates 1 good
Ultimates 2 good
USM until Carnage is good

that's all I fuck with. Haven't read Hickman's stuff tho

If there's a multiverse what's wrong with seeing another version alongside the main one?

How can you tell if someone just started collecting

Sure there was/is. You need to have decades of comic knowledge to understand what the fuck is going on at any given time. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing with such a niche hobby as comic book reading.

Nothing. I'm not saying you're not supposed to read it, I just said I didn't need it.

>they stack their book by laying them flat
>buy a shit ton of Rebirth
>everything is just TPBs
>Own Identity Crisis and Civil War

They own a copy of watchmen and a Hellboy figurine, plus maybe TDKR.

I've literally just got to carnage in USM
I thought it would be interesting to go through the whole thing slowly but I'm kinda losing interest for the most part and I just want to get to the revamp they did. I'm a stubborn fucker though and I'll push my way there eventually

Do experienced collectors get rid of Watchmen?

No, I'm saying they own little else, and pad their shelves with novels and "how do I draw?" books.

>lots of vol 1-2 TPBs
>incomplete runs
>no omnis
>watchmen
>dkr
>the same bat books on all the lists
>modern image comics

Pretty intimidating for new readers when they know nothing. The ultimate universe is a decent stepping stone. Plus at least most of the main runs started decent

>Lots of Vol. 1/2 TPBS
DC never fucking finished The Spectre collection you asshole.

>The ultimate universe is a decent stepping stone
But it isn't. You want to start with Spider-Man, you read the original Ditko stuff.

>incomplete runs
I fail to see the problem with this

>Lots of vol 1-2
I do this because I have a short attention span, please forgive me /shelf/

Zoomers aren't going to read things by a dead guy
Ya, there are plenty of runs that start great and peter out, stop when you stop enjoying it

Don't see how that's relevant

Who is Ditko?

If you wait another ten years, it might be more interesting to read as a time capsule. It's too recent to be nostalgic or insightful, but it's a pretty interesting extension of the 90s and a look into how the 00s tried to move away from that, before the liberalism of the 10s did away with it completely.

Right now, there's little reason to read it other than to understand some of the plot points in Secret Wars though. It really shouldn't take too long to marathon the entire thing either, since it was most widescreen storytelling that was light on story.

For a lot of people, it was also the last line of comics you could find at grocery stores, or the earliest instance of Big 2 longform storytelling published in trade. I don't think anyone would say they truly loved any of the stories.

How am I supposed to collect all the volumes and a full run when DC won't sell it?

Ditko Ditkovitch, landlord to Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3.

>inb4 floppies and ruining them by
custom binding

lol who the fuck buys books that are so bad they dont ever collct them

You're too obvious.

Might also be too young to know what "sage" means.

Yes. Once we receive our /shelf/ cards in the mail we are expected to donate our copy of Watchmen to the nearest library.

>not being near a library with a copy of watchmen

My library only stocks the finest of ps2 games and 90s VHS movies

Do modern libraries actually have videogames? That's so weird to think about.

Yes, and board games

My bedroom is not your library and I'm not your librarian

They do. Some even have game rooms where kids go play vidya while skipping school.

Where else would homeless people play vidya? Be considerate

Libraries are hip now, y'see?

Attached: fellow kids.jpg (1200x800, 162K)

One of my local libraries has Lost Girls in the graphic novel section with all the capeshit and manga that children are always checking out. I don't know what that place is thinking.

I know a library that started getting rid of Dragon Ball for its "sexual content" but still carried Tom of Finland's literal gay BDSM porn because it was considered "art".

It’s just a picture book dude

Is it silver age Green Lantern that bangs a 13 yo? Just wondering

What's /shelf/s consensus on Top 10?

I imagine it's just the stock from Blockbuster and unsold trade-ins from Gamestop. I haven't lived in America in a while, I'm not surprised libraries have had to slip into degenerate forms of entertainment just to keep people visiting.

That's Hal, and it's debatable on how legal she was.
Guy is the redhead that jammed his fingers inside of the definitely illegal Mary Marvel.
The rest are fairly normal sexually.

Normally I would go this route, but it'd become an addiction quite fast. Also >ads

Not American here, video games are in no way different from any other media and libraries carry them all.

Got Daredevil Yellow in the post today. It's had seven shades of shit beaten out of it though, so it'll have to be sent back :(

show us a pic, let us share in your pain

If you don't own any of the Loeb/Sale Marvel Color books I would suggest getting the new omnibus.

Imaging if Sin City was better.

But Sin City was so much fun tho

Exactly.

Cool beans, then.

Same.

Later, we’ll tell him about Kirby.

bumping my thread

Just got volume 6 of Grell's GA run and chewed through it. This comic right here is my jam, friendos.

I'm well aware of Kirby. I keep eyeing up the fourth world omnibus on Amazon but can't quite justify the price yet

What's the proper term for "Ducktales Universe"?
The Duckverse? Negaverse?

Since seaguy vol 3 is never gonna happen and thus we'll never get a seaguy Omni (didn't even get a seaguy eternal tpb). I was thinking of picking one of these plain magazine boxes up and custom designing it so I can have both seaguy runs on my shelf. Anyone else use these for floppies that don't have or even have but are costly, trade releases?

Is Nancy Collins a good writer?

Do you like vampire fiction? That's her main stuff.
I was more interested in the bonus content, because she apparently had some really dumb objectives that she had to go through in her contract, like writing Abby and Tefe out of the book.

>Do you like vampire fiction? That's her main stuff.
Is that a yes?

nice

anyone picking up the Blackest Night omnibus? I'm tempted but it is 1600 pages and must be tough to read. I've never read it before, would anyone who has share their thoughts on the event? Thank you.

Attached: image.jpg (250x375, 79K)

Read Batman vs. Predator last night and thought it was pretty good for the most part (some weirdness with Predator, but it felt like a better Predator 2 which was cool). Are the other two crossovers on par with it or should I skip them?

I already got the BN trade and GL tie-in trade so I'm good. Frankly the GL tie-ins don't even feel necessary and the artwork by Doug Mahnke is crap compared to Ivan Reis on Blackest Night. Frankly you can get by with just the BN trade imo

I've got the Johns omnis, so I don't really see the point in getting this for the tie-ins. The Question one is the only one I remember being really good.

I said frankly twice... fuck

Came in today. Finally going to check this out. I keep hearing good things and the art looks interesting.

Attached: IMG_20190606_182714_202.jpg (2160x2700, 1.68M)

I almost bought this but when I read reviews it looked annoyingly political. Not sure if the reciewers were oversensitive or what.

BvsP 2 is one of the worst things written

It is the only Mouse Guard I own, but I hope to rectify that soon.

Is it one of those so bad it's funny things or just bad?

Pirate it and check it out

>Templesmith

Where do I start with Ennis Punisher? The Marvel Knights Omnibus or MAX?

FUCK OFF REBIRTHFAG! God, you are literally the worst. There was no fucking reason to bump except call attention to you. FUCK YOU CANCEROUS FAGGOT!

wel, since marvel knights precedes MAX, you read that first, u dummy

stop bumping my thread if you hate it so much

Ok, that's what I thought. Are the two runs related at all?

I grabbed a few of these at the dollar store and filled them with Playboys.
Get some packing tape to strengthen the bottom.

hmm...That would be good for my magazine sized floppies

MAX is really its own thing. It really only connects to Fury MAX.

but i like dc comics

Yea Forums shits on it now because Millar and Bendis became hacks, but it's full of great shit.

Ultimate Spider-man was 10/10 for like 50 issues, and stayed 8-9/10 for most of the next 100. Even the early Miles issues were decent, but got real shit by the 2nd Miles title.

Millar's Ultimates were fucking great. Loeb's were shit, but then Hickman came along for kino... which was ruined by Humphries. Fialkov ended really strong, but didn't have enough time for a proper run.

Millar's X-Men is good, Bendis did a short run, and BKV's was great. Kirkman followed and was pretty mediocre mostly.

Fantastic Four was awesome for 20 issues. Ellis's 12-issue run is honestly peak-F4 and not enough people talk about it. Mike Carey's run was shit though with like 2 or 3 decent arcs.

Some of the minis were great, some of them were meh, some of them were shit. The Galactus Trilogy stands out as the best, and really anything else that Ellis wrote.

>custom binding
>ruining
user, you couldn't be more wrong

>Ultimate Spider-man was 10/10 for like 50 issues, and stayed 8-9/10 for most of the next 100.
It's a good comic but where are your standards at

I'm talking about in relation to general capeshit.

I stand by what I said

Dude. No.

Okay, that's fine. That's how opinions work, after all.
But Ultimate Spider-man remains to me one of the best - and certainly most consistent - Spider-man runs period.

For sure

Millar has never written a good comic in his life. He think that every deconstruction story is like "oh cool, lets do that" without understand anything about the premise. He is a fucking moron who just panders to the lowest common denominator, and unfortunately there are a lot of them. I would take almost anyone at Marvel/DC over anything he writes. Cause at least they may write something that can have a different perspective/take on a trope. Millar is just shit

Not everything Millar has written is deconstruction, and that includes Ultimates.
And no - making Cap and Pym assholes is not "deconstruction."

no, my point is that he never wrote a deconstruction story, he takes the surface level of what a "deconstruction story is" and just lays it on thick. That isn't deconstruction and that isn't anything smart, it's just being an idiot and taking surface value of things and things that surface is deeper than it is.

did millar fuck your wife or something

He is just the worst writer to gain prominence.. and yes, he has fucked up many characters cause he doesn't give a shit about any characters. The Ultimate universe sent Pym's development bad decades cause Millar is a fucking hack who can't read into anything besides the first shit that he heard of a character. You see this on every single character he has written, from Stark to Vampirella. The guy is a fucking joke

>blaming Millar for how Pym and Tony get treated
Get a load of this guy

Millar wrote Ultimate, he also wrote Civil War. Bendis just made it worse. Slott, Gage, Remender, Spencer, and before those two hacks came to, Busiek all redeemed Pym. Or do you like hacks that just ignore all continuity and character and just instead pick one single aspect of a character and say Good ENOUGH! One dimensional characters are Millars entire career

I'm up to 62 of Spider-Man. The last arc with doc occ was probably my favourite of the run so far

The gah-lak-tus trilogy was a cool and interesting twist. Wasn't really expecting that

Millers ultimates I thought was a decent bit of fun.

Can't remember where I was in ff I haven't read I in a while. I think reed was making the cosmic cube. Last thin I remember was that God awful shit with the alchemist from the 1600's

I want to push through towards the end and then start reading Hickman's avengers and new avengers leading up to secret wars as I've not actually read secret wars yet

Went to the Naoki Urasawa exhibition in London. Highlight was getting to see the man draw and play music live over two days, but I also picked up the first volume of his most recent series Asadora! about a young-girl who befriends a veteran post-WWII. i really need to re-read Underwater Welder. i remember loving it, but it's been years since I've read and can't remember too much.

I'm trying to get all of Lemire's indie stuff at the moment. Probably won't touch his Cape books unless he does another Moon Knight series but I am interested in his Valiant stuff.

Black Hammer it's great. Unless you are referring to the big two books

Nice. I like collecting cards too. Just spent some time earlier today filling a binder with old 90's Alien Vs Predator Dark Horse trading cards.

I've had my eye on Black Hammer for a while but I'll probably get it after the fourth volume is out. I'm not much of a Marvel fan but I am enjoying some aspects of Rebirth.

You read it from the library or pirate it to see if you like it.
Then if you want oversized art, you go for the Absolutes.
Or smaller version, the two/three omnibuses.
Or you buy the ten trades.
All of those above options feature a recolor that they did back in the mid 2000s. Earlier trades (that the library might have) could have the old coloring.
Or you seek out old floppies

the two omnibus or the ten trade paperback collection. honestly most of sandman art is not that good to justifiy the absolutes.

Too bad the non-sport trading card collecting hobby is fucking dead, everyone just buys Funkos now. It means lower prices for me, I guess, plus the ongoing alteration scandal is going to depress prices on graded material too.

I'm conflicted about whether I'll buy a box of the Steven Universe set that's coming out. I've come to despise the show, but barely anything gets released that's even remotely in my zone of interest. It's all the blandest, most pathetic fucking normie shit from live action TV shows like Stranger Things or The Walking Dead or goddamn Outlander, or Star Wars.

I'll probably just pick up a set on the secondary market once prices drop.
