I came into this pretty late. Like end of season three, beginning of season 4 type late. You think the writers are bothered by the fact that the fannon was objectively better than the actual shit that we got? I was kind of tired of all the shipping stuff early on even though I was a hard core starco guy, because lets face it, it's fucking cute. They should have wrapped up Star's shit with Tom mid season 3.

It bothers me that we went from fun adventures in different dimensions to the mild sauce version of game of thrones with all the politics and the monsters being stand-ins for racism.

I realize it was supposed to be the overall theme but boy howdy did they ever lay it on thick.

What we really need to be real about is to fuck off with the oneitis syndrome. Be that Jackie, Star, Hekapoo, whoever.

One of the earliest things we established in the show (the sleepover episode) is that people's feelings change. You might feel one way but that doesn't make it set in stone. It takes time figure out who you really are and who you belong with. What (or rather who) really sticks even after a long time, even after certain circumstances.

Fuck me remember that one photoshopped image where Marco had dark magic corruption like Eclipsa? That would have been so much more interesting. Maybe Marco finds out he can use magic and it's not unique to the royal line, he does dark magic to protect somebody and gets the hands dipped in black velvet treatment.

Lesbian Jackie isn't really lesbian Jackie. She spends most of her screentime talking about her relationship with Marco and telling the audience that she's changed. Whilst her pet lesbian does a trick and is then relegated to the background or off-screen.

And the greater the challenge, the sweeter it is. Imagine a timeline where Jackie was also a magical princess - the daughter of the merfolk king and queen in exile for having picked the wrong side in Toffee's war. She would offer a compelling vision of a possible future, and Marco's eventual path to choosing Star could have had actual meaningful, character-developing events.

Well, no. Homoromantic background scenes aren't really anything other than an acknowledgement of real life. To have a scene, where a group of people kiss and yet all of them are straight is making a toxic political statement. Good on Nefcy for standing by her decision to include gay people in that scene.
However, if you have a scene where a character is revealed to be in a lesbian relationship and yet the crux of the scene is her relationship with a guy; then you can see the problem.
