fu*king BASED
Fu*king BASED
it-s gonna look like shit with all the turbulance lol what a dumb fuck
All what turbulence? You think planes fly though the clouds the whole time?
>That's how you get to 300 issues
That's weird I thought being financially stable enough to draw comics all day every day so you can still pay your bills is how you do it, regardless of them turning a profit.
You're retarded
this
This is a great object lesson.
I'm going to work on my game.
Todd is underated around here. I was busy and didn't make a thread about this 300th issue, it's a big deal. He's had the longest running character comic now. The man is passionate and I wish he'd get the same kind of attention his late friend Stan Lee got.
This, also the cigarette smoke will yellow the paper a bit
GET ON MY LEVEL, TODD!
youtube.com
Just look at the page,it looks fine.
Based.
>He's had the longest running character comic now.
What?
300 issues of boring shite.
His art is quite good. Never read Spawn, is it worth getting in to? It looks like '90s edgelord shit but I'm not necessarily against that
The kid kicking his seat the entire ride will also be a factor.
>It looks like '90s edgelord shit
Dude, Todd basically CREATED the 90s edgelord.
Yeah it can't be defined as "edgelord" per say since Todd started that and everyone else was badly copying him. He just wanted to make something that ran counter to the censorship at the time.
Spawn is definitely worth reading, now reading it out of the time it's definitely less striking as edgy or cringey, like reading it pure without any memes or notions attached is very fun and engaging. Spawn is an interesting character for a long time.
The absolute madman
They need to fill all the potholes in the sky.
thank you based liefeld
but...but cock slut notch told me liefeld was unbased.
longest running without reboots or cancellations
its retarded, theres been 1000 issues of action comics, not however many there were when the new 52 rebooted everything
everything about rob liefeld is based. except for his art and his donut steel oc
What about Cerebus
Cerebus stopped at #300. That inspired McFarlane to keep pushing and go beyond #300 that's why it's a huge deal.
That was 300 exactly I believe. And he's not claiming longest solo run, he's claiming longest running in general.
Right but should it really count if you just do 301 of faff
Realistically, are those Spawn compilations of the early shit that come out about a decade ago gonna be reissued for the 30th anniversary? They've been OoP and quite expensive for a good while.
Actually scratch that, they were only last month but Amazon's listings are fucked.
>fu*king
Fucking. You can say fucking, user.
We are not sensitive rimjob artisans like Reddit.
To each their own, i like the character and his early stories but never kept up with it, theres a Yea Forums to read list of it somewhere.
>Inking with copics
1000 ways to die episode when?
would sniff
>copics
those are microns you blindfag
Hey if being a rimjob artisan on Reddit lands me a piece of that then I will sign up for a new account right now!
based Rob
i prefer kuretakes
size 5 master race because I get them for free
>stop enjoying your work and meet deadlines! It's bad because my twitter friends have breakdown when they have to stay at work to meet a deadlline they accepted.
when you see the final pages, you kinda believe it to be honest.
nobody cares about your gay furry porn
WILL SOMEONE SHOW THESE BOOMERS A FUCKING DIGITAL DRAWING TABLET.
Its not 1991 anymore, guys....as much as you want it to be.
>what is selling original art for $$$$
The average Spawn story:
- Spawn is sitting on his throne, which is made of rotten, worm-infested remains
- Cogliostro or Angela or Violator or the mailman come and either tells him to solve his problems or threatens him with some prophecy (which of course will never be fulfilled)
- Spawn, still seated on his rotten throne, remembers his wife and daughter and cries a bit
- From his skyscraper, Jason Wynn puts a bad guy face and orders some evil action to be done
- Spawn is still in his worm-infested throne talking to his beggar friends, who tell some joke
- Malebolgia says that Al Simmons will be his someday and laughs hysterically
- Spawn is still crying in his throne when a supernatural menace appears and Spawn spectacularly fights it... for three pages
- And now that he has left the throne, he will take a look at his ex-family from the window, like a fucking stalker. He cries a bit more.
- Cogliostro insists that something big is coming, that everything’s going to change, that the prophecy will be fulfilled. One of these days.
- In the end, Spawn is sitting on his stinky throne again.
Repeat for about 300 issues.
But you haven't even draw the majority of Spawn yourself, Todd. Remember Greg Capullo?
>stop being competent, I need my crutch tools, so do YOU, because I'm too much of a sensitive clown to learn!
yikes.
No digital tool can rival real inking, neither in look, nor in speed. You'd know if you ever drew something that isn't your Sonic OC pedo porn.
Besides the point another user made about selling original art, it does take time to get used to digital inking over traditional. Just like any other changing up of your tools. If they know they're not making any mistakes they can't fix the regular way, there isn't really incentive for them to switch over.
Todd was one of the first to adopt a Cintiq into his workflow and 95% of his work is digital at this point.
That's still wrong
>not inking and then vectorizing
worked well for Cuphead
>vectorizing
no wonder american comics are ugly as shit.
Shitty bait.
This is a good point though.
I used to live in New York. I've seen flawless line work done while riding the subway by some really dedicated illustrators. A little swaying is not going to deter those with the will to push through a challenge.
Also, based Todd carrying his sheets around in a taped up re-purposed UPS box like some scraggly hobo still trying to show someone his portfolio on the convention circuit while he lives in his mom's basement and she yells at him daily to get a real job. I like the man more for it now.
>Plotting Spawn
This colvulted shit still exists?
Dude flies coach. Kinda sad.
here's your "better" digital art comic lines, bro.
You're a dumb faggot, Todd is extremely proficient with tablets
So, if I draw a really shitty comic with ink on paper it will prove to you that ink on paper is a bad medium? Idiot.
wtf I love Spawn now.
>I would totally prove you wrong if I WANTED TO!
Embarassing.
Fuck off Todd
Probably more likely the penciled work was mailed to him by ups rather than him repurposing it to store them.
>didn't even get the point
Lol
Why use a crummy tablet when you could be looking for pokemon creatures?
>writes all the numbers with the same fucking pen
fucking pottery
Cool dude
Honestly, no. At least for me, I have read up to 50 issues, and I don't feel any sense of progress in the story or Al Simmons character, or any remote sense of what the story wants to be: Sometimes is a horror comic, sometimes is your usual cape shit, sometimes is social commentary bullshit, sometimes is a detective story, even once it went to have freaking Harry Houdini in the book for some reason.
Its a mess of plot's, theme's and worldbuilding, idk if it gets better later on though. Watch the animated series instead.
Spawn's dialogue in a nutshell for 300 issues:
-NOOOOOOOO
How did he get so thicc?
You forgot the power counter counting back to no effect whatsoever
He's inking the guy right there on the picture
digital drawing tablets are shit
they are wonky and slow
with a pencil you can draw 4xtimes faster
Todd uses tablets almost exclusively
youtube.com
Based, as always.
Why did he shout his own name at the end?
So iwhat do you think Spawn will play like in MK11?
The problem is that Todd revels in being a douchebag. It's hard to like the guy.
Is the comic as awful as the HBO animated series was?
Sure it looked kind of nice but holy shit it was retarded. I remember one episode started off with some little line about how the line between good & evil is blurry and to make this point the next scene was a catholic priest was chucking grenades at people. Ooh very subtle stuff there Todd.
i dunno, i follow him on social media and the guy does a bunch of art tutorials and you can see how much he likes to do what he does and if you've seen this interview, you have to give it to him, he's one smart dude.
youtube.com
Maybe he was a bit douchey in the 90s but who cares, that attitude is what made him a break out of Marvel.
Where?
I follow him on Instagram and he always comes across as very sincere and chill. I get he was probably like this back in the 90s but i think he mellowed waaaay the fuck out siince then.
The comic is more superhero type shit with dashes of horror and both Heaven and Hell being bad guys while Spawn is a good guy.
In the old days he used to ink pages in a cab on the way to the FedEx dropoff.
He also did a lot of penciling laying on his stomach on the floor of his wife’s walk in closet because no one bothered him in there.
Holy shit what a legend
That's pretty good misinformation. He doesn't claim to have written or drawn all of Spawn, but implies such without catastrophically committing.
Rohan Kishibe Sells Out
>hbomberguy
I mean it goes to show you that the only thing you really need to make comics is a deadline
