This got me thinking, if this show is made by feminists and wanted to make this somehow a progressist cartoon, and if said feminists don't want to vehiculate potential degrading ideas about women, then why do they draw sexy characters either way? I know that technically Rule 34 is inevitable, but isn't encouraging it going against their main goal since most people will see in said characters nothing but sex objects which could, in a sense, degrade the overall image the creators wanted to give from their characters?

i don't know what the politics of this show or its creators are, but there is a difference between making your characters physically attractive and blatant, exploitative sexualization. since you brought up feminists, let's take for example tumblr artists with poor body image who draw characters who are deliberately made to look repulsive in order to (i'm guessing) deny that there's anything wrong with the fact that they're fat and not motivated to stay in shape. the character designers of steven universe obviously don't subscribe to this idea
being physically attractive is in fact normal and healthy and the fact that it appears to be sexualized is just a consequence of what we naturally find attractive about the human form. the designs just reflect what is inherently sexual about the human figure
