Why did their relationship deteriorate so much?

The writers had ulterior motives

The gay agenda.

The writers fucking hated Finn

You aren't really allowed to have a stable successful relationship in the middle of a series, but you can end with one. They had their happy ending, but the series kept going, so it had to be undone, and once done it can't be repeated.

cause soilets "writers"

Adventure Time was originally a world of fun and whimsy overlayed a somewhat darker history (magical nuclear armageddon). Occasionally this was fun to drag up with stuff like the Lich, but after Ward left the writers became obsessed with SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS and pushing agendas.

This resulted in the ruination of Finn's character (can't be the archetypal "adventurous hero who rescues princesses") as well as Bubblegum (can't just be the ruler of an idyllic candy kingdom, has to be a manipulative dictator, Uncle Gumbald goes the same way, Candy people are silly and dumb because of mind degrading drugs, etc.).

Obviously this would cause their relationship to self-destruct. Frankly, a good aligned hero might be inclined to kill Princess Bubblegum. Would spare them a lot of trouble.

Shit writing

Because Finn realized he had a crush on a fucking dictator. Good for him.

hack writers attempting to supplant the source material

God damn I can't believe it went all so wrong. I loved that episode and most of the early seasons. I think the first warning sign was Remember You. That point forward they went down the 3deep5u meme and the show just never returned to form.

I remember years ago I was in a thread about why AT went downhill and I said it was because of the gay shit with PB and Marce. In fact I also stated the 2 episodes that made me quit the series was the one where it ends with Finn being "banished" from the Candy Kingdom only to return to status quo next episode and the one with PB and Marce singing in front of a door acting all gay and shit. Then some PBxMArce shipper went fucking ballistic on me. Where were you people back then? Why didn't you stop it? Did you just give up at that point and let the fujoshits take over?

nigga this is just a vietnamese basket weaving image board

Pre S3 PB want a dictator, she was kind and sweet and I have no god damn idea why she couldn’t be a good role model with quirks. Everything has to be taken apart to fit some cunt’s version of “good development”

Also this. Despite Finn’s immaturity (it really wasn’t that bad. He was still selfless, put others first (at least until “omg older and muh mature so we gotta make him thirsty and unpalatable”) with naïveté and PB still wanted to remain a kid with him despite all the history of the kingdom and smooshing lips with Marceline. Finn had to go through the cringe shit because ripping PB away and slapping her with Marcy would be a open fuck you to him.

My pet theory is that transforming back into an adult was too much for PB and it affected her mental health.
This manifested in various ways.

The show started hating its protagonist. Happens a lot in cartoons.

Nu writers came in and forced a gay relationship with Marceline when it was clear that wasn't the original intention

A lot of people blame the new writers. But, the truth is, the problems were there from the start. It just became a lot more pronounced, when the new writers came in.
The show tried to have an unfolding plot, where there was an epic lore hidden underneath the surface. But lore only works as seasoning. It can never be the meat of a plot. So, when the new writers tried to answer all the questions that kept getting thrown out, it was boring. Because the answers could never be as interesting as what was imagined and the lore wasn't as detailed as you'd think it was.

What was the setting of adventure time? The bombs dropped and magic came back to Earth. It's not actually that interesting, when you actually acknowledge what is essentially background flavour text. Any attempt to give the fans what they wanted, answers that they've been baited with for years, would ultimately be a letdown. The writers, new and old, should have just focused on what attracted people to the show in the first place. Finn's relationship with the world and people of Ooo.

The fuck were we supposed to do, retard?

white man stupid and bad and pathetic

You cant fight sjw shippers, theyre a level of psycho the worlds still adjusting to. We have learned you have to wait them out. They move on after they ruin one show and start trying to ruin another.
In about a year or two a Voltron thread might even mention the lions again.

It seemed to happen right after Fire and Ice, so I got the feeling she knew about it and didn't like/trust him anymore. So essentially shit writing.

Why does Finn’s Happily Ever After have to die for a bunch of cunts that only watch the product for the lesbian shipping? It’s so baffling.

then again, most of these retards have a positive reaction to socialism

The later seasons are so bad about making everything unnecessarily dark it almost ruins the whole show for me.

You can't have white male heroes anymore saving girls anymore. Only black and lesbian whamen. The writers hated the concept of Finn and ruined him. This is why I mostly stick with anime

At least he ended up with someone who actually cares for him

Yeah that’s hot

He didn't even end up with her. I mean, HW is best girl, but it was never confirmed they were a couple.

I was kinda pissed they didn’t do anything with her at the ending but I realized it’s better this way so Muto doesn’t find a way to ruin her.
I imagine they became a couple after some years of interacting with each other. Hey even they had a moment in the season 11 comic

/Thread

It annoyed me further about how they could a lesbian kiss but they kept putting Finn down even in the finale

It didn't.

Attached: fubble_collage.jpg (4000x3000, 772K)

They kissed, and HW gave him her "heart." Seems pretty definite they were a couple to me.

I don't understand why people are even surprised that it deteriorated. Even if Bubblegum was only 18, Finn's still way too young for her, and her "relationship" with him was her being nice to him/slightly teasing him. Which Finn, being the dumb impressionable kid he was, interpreted as genuine feelings for him, making him think he had a chance with her. It's basically the same thing that happened with Bart and Jimbo's girlfriend in that one episode of The Simpson's. Which makes me wonder if people got upset when they saw that episode for the first time, too.

She was episodic girl, we knew she isn't going to be bart girlfriend.

While Pb is finn first girl that he have feelings for. And she is the first girls that kisses finn.

honestly thread sudda ended right here

>While Pb is finn first girl that he have feelings for. And she is the first girls that kisses finn.
You seem to quite spectacularly be missing the point here.

I liked FP more. HW is alrigth though.

FP was legit garbage. I'm glad her story line was ruined several degrees harder than almost any other (at one time) relevant character.

You're a faggot, you know that?.

Calm down.
But it's the truth. FP's character was inconsistent and never made much sense at all, her issues and eventual reasons for breaking up with Finn were hackneyed, and her entire existence was used as a vehicle for the show to go down a a path of terrible, terrible shipping drama, ruining every character involved with the arc, especially Finn.

Attached: 1308981871845.jpg (477x360, 30K)

Yup. FP is, and always was lame as fuck. The writers made the right call relegating her to c-list status.

Disagree with this though. I think her effect on Finn was pretty interesting, and the only thing she was good for.

FP was what happened when one writer (Sugar) went out of their way to make a love interest for the MC and have that character's existence hinge on nothing else but their interactions with the protagonist. She had nothing to contribute to the series outside shipbait which fell out when the only person who cared about her stepped down from the series.

HW just kind of existed, but at least they kind of tried. I don't like either of them, really.

Attached: 1548050812264.png (900x1200, 361K)

Sugar didn't create FP on her own, and she didn't write any story outlines for the character either. People attribute way too much to Sugar. Agreed on the rest.
