ARE YOU READY KIDS? (For the Spongebob spinoffs and Spongebob-verse.)
>Nickelodeon has given a 13-episode series order to Kamp Koral (working title), a spinoff of the network’s signature series SpongeBob SquarePants. While the mothership is a classic 2D cartoon, the off-shoot will be a CG-animated series, which serves as a prequel to SpongeBob. It introduces 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants during his summer at sleepaway camp.
>Earlier this year, Nickelodeon, under new president Brian Robbins, announced that it is developing for the first time ever spinoff projects for SpongeBob SquarePants characters. Kamp Koral marks the first such project to get a green light. It is slated to begin production in June at Nickelodeon’s facilities in Burbank.
>In the series, SpongeBob and his pals spend the summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral. SpongeBob SquarePants‘ Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller co-executive produce the prequel.
And it'll probably have Sandy and Plankton in it too because reasons
Chase Kelly
It reminds me of Jorge making an Anakin a kid in Episode 1 in order to have kids relate to him.
It'll probably be Sandy's never before mentioned sister or some shit.
Blake Adams
Trips of painful truth. As a poorfag who's been drawing for 20 years I feel existential dread whenever I think about the state of art students. CGI is here to stay.
Joseph Carter
yeah i thought this shit died in like the 90s
Jeremiah Johnson
>fine art is the same as illustration and animation fucking retard
Cooper Butler
inb4 they retcon a fuckload of stuff such as how Spongebob first met Sandy, what started Plankton's and Krabs rivalry and so on.
I think Spongebob might be worse off than the Simpsons. At least the Simpsons isn't getting shitty spinoffs nobody wanted in the first place.
Blake Gray
Don't fucking jinx it man. Don't fucking jinx it.
Easton Johnson
Animation and Illustration are niche degrees that are mostly offered at privately owned art schools for a tremendous mark up. Most people will go for the cheaper and more accessible alternative of a fine arts degree from their local state college/University.
Jordan Moore
>despite the obvious age differences all the main characters will be portrayed as within 5 years of age of each other in order to attend the camp all together >krabs and plankton are rival camp counselors >sandy is some kind of foreign exchange student >squidward is also at this camp as a child as a coincidence >the "my leg" dude is going to be there at least once
I shouldn't be surprised. Nickelodeon milked Rugrats to death, they're milking Spongebob to death, and it looks like they're gonna milk Loud House to death.
>Not doing a spin-off about the adventures of the my leg guy and the background fish in bikini bottom >Not doing a spin-off about the snail people in bikini bottom >No spin-off about Patrick's retarded family members. >No spin-off about Squidsville >No prequel about Mr.Krabs as a war veteran sailor >No spinoff about Sandy on the surface back in Texas >No spin-off about the I.J.L.S.A
Wasted potential from Nickelodeon as usual. They suck at everything and the Camp spinoff sounds like straight rubbish. Fuck Viacom.
Jose Edwards
>Fine >Art This is a funny post
Brody Jackson
Is this going to be for the Nick Jr audience?
Xavier Butler
>At least the Simpsons isn't getting shitty spinoffs nobody wanted in the first place. The Sneedsons 2021
Nathaniel Bell
Wouldn’t it be easier to just make it animated? KEK
Elijah Bell
HOW BOUT A CRAZY WEDDING WHERE SOMETHING HAPPENS, AND DODODODODO
>Not canceling both the spin-offs and SpongeBob Nickelodeon doesn't want a different show. They want to repeat something that was popular in hopes it will repeat the popularity. Why do you think The Casagrandes is just The Loud House but with the Mexican texture pack?
Ayden Price
I'm not going to lie, rating bait it may have been, but that shit was cute while it lasted
Carter Campbell
if hillenburg was still alive would have he allowed this?
>no SpongeBob spin-offs or crossovers in the near twenty year run with Hillenburg around as show runner and later producer >Hillenburg kicks the bucket >Months later multiple spin-offs are in talks at Nickelodeon >They announce the first of possibly many more Maybe it's a huge coincidence and Hillenburg gave up on trying to keep the integrity of his show, but it seems really fishy to me pun intended
>the off-shoot will be a CG-animated series, which serves as a prequel to SpongeBob. It introduces 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants during his summer at sleepaway camp. Holy hell this sounds awful
>Camp Lazlo was staffed by a lot of former classic spongebob crew
Wyatt Campbell
Oh wow it's like that Total Drama or Big Bang Theory spinoff that no one wants or asked for
Brody Bell
Honestly I'm willing to see the details before I hate this.
What's the approximate age difference between Spongebob and Pearl? 5 years at most? He's young enough that it's not weird to go to prom with her. If they stick to canon and leave Sandy out they could maybe do something with Pearl.
Aren't Squidward and Squilliam old rivals from some point before the series? We could get Squilliam.
Maybe give Larry a slightly larger role.
Or they can make up a bunch of new bullshit characters, I'm looking forward to that kind of trainwreck. I don't think my childhood memories of Spongebob could be tarnished by new content because the early material was just so solid.
Caleb Collins
actually it would be easier to make it live-action
Jayden Foster
Money, and because Nick mostly sucks now and has sucked for a very long time
Hunter Sanders
kek
Luke Johnson
I thought they would've ended it out of respect for Hillenburg but I shouldn't of expected better of Nick
Gabriel Hill
They are doing a CGI Rugrats revival too
Robert Phillips
Based
Benjamin Barnes
And Rocko.
Love that ending where Heffer was the councilor that Lumpus kidnapped
Julian Cox
In part because they are paranoid to make anything new because it might fail.
Christopher Murphy
>Spongebob babies
Austin Scott
So instead of using their other properties like Jimmy Neutron, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom etc, they just want to flood the channel with Spongebob more then they already do. The Krusty Sponge episode made fun of this mindset but Nick took it as a guidebook apparently. Just leave the sponge alone Nick.
>a rip-off TWO CN shows, one of which ripped off another one >shitty CGI from the Christmas special This is exactly how Rugrats ended, a bad spinoff a year before it gets cancelled. Is it over in 2020? I hope so.
Wyatt Bell
I would kill for a Nicktoons Unite show.
William Jackson
There was a rumor of something like that being made into a theatrical movie a year or two ago, but it was fake. I actually held on hope for it until the revealed movies were Dora and Wonder Park
Nicholas Powell
Guess I'll just mop up the abortion fluids when this comes out.
Is there a better way to properly spit on Hillenburg's grave? Nickelodeon is a fucking joke, watch Glitch Techs get canned after 1 season to make room for more soulless garbage like this.
When was the last time Nickelodeon made something animated that wasn't for seven-year-olds?
People are learning how to draw, just not through universities. Universities are pretty useless for anything that's not STEM, and more people are realizing that.
Angel Russell
It’s why the waited. As long as Hillinberg was alive he wouldn’t green light a spin off. Now he’s dead and the cow can truly be milked
Joshua Phillips
meh, the show is not at simpsons zombie level bad yet, but it sure is long past it good years.
Brandon Brooks
This is fucking horrifying.
Daniel Cox
Men of culture I see. How would you like a Nicktoons Unite show to go? I always wanted it like Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and DCAU Justice League. Just let it take place after each show has ended to allow creative freedom and add XJ9 and Aang/Korra to round up to 6 founding members of the team and this show could be kino.
Somewhat dark. The people who grew up on those shows when they were fresh and new are now going into college and they might find the characters they grew up having grown up with them appealing. Spongebob could be the group Spiderman/Spongebob in that he's the most cartoony of them all - literally the only anthropomorphic character in your pic - and that he's supposed to be appealing for his childish nature.
Jaxon Bailey
>spinoff where they’re kids >takes place at summer camp
Did I miss out not going to summer camp as a kid? It’s the setting for a lot of cartoons but I never got the appeal since I never experienced it first hand.
David Adams
I like companies that actually take pride in and have confidence in their shows.
>Kamp Koral picked up for 13 episode Season 1. >TWD picked up for 6 episode Season 1.
Hunter Clark
>Spongebob CGI spin-off where he's a kid at summer camp Bit out of left field. Never would've guessed it would ever exist.
You know what else Stephen never wanted? A crossover. But now he's out of the way, I feel it might happen if Vincent is too much of a pussy to put his foot down.
Cameron Phillips
summer camp is a boomer meme
Brody Martinez
Camp Wannaweep is probably a more realistic portrayal of how summer camps fucking suck.
They've always just been a place for parents that don't want their kids hanging around home for over three and a bit months or parents that don't want their kids to be alone all day to dump them so they hang there instead with a bunch of other kids and make macaroni pictures and sing campfire songs.
Kevin Roberts
Kamp Koral sounds like a name of a concentration camp
I would be a lot more entertaining if it actually was a concentration camp and Spongebob was too stupid to realise. But since they already did that, they probably won't do it again
You think they give a shit about canon? I think Krabs being the camp headmaster was already confirmed despite him not knowing Spongebob in the first episode. I'm sure Sandy will be at camp
Eli Rivera
Not anymore you mean. Season 1-3, i.e. actual spongebob was clearly retro themed
