What is the Yea Forums-equivalent of Trigun?
>hero has unshakeable morals
>refuses to take a single life, ever, regardless of the circumstances
>villain’s personal mission is to force the hero to betray his morals
What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?
Steven Universe. He's a big crybaby with superhuman powers who loves doughnuts and never kills anyone regardless of what crimes they've committed.
>Neon Genesis Evangelion - Grant Morrison
>Neon Genesis Evangelion - Grant Morrison
What the fuck does that even mean?
>Neon Genesis Evangelion - Grant Morrison
>not Watchman
Intelligent, thought provoking, thirty percent total nonsense and mostly deals with metaphysics through character-based writing.
Vash is a loser who can only solve problems when the script bends to his nonsense pacifism.
There is plenty of Yea Forums media with no kill rules that only become inconvenient when the story demands, so I'd say some Batman run. idk. Vash is so interesting in theory but the execution is bleh. t. anime bab
Wander Over Yonder
THIS
>Hero has unshakeable morals
>refuses to take a single life, ever, regardless of the circumstances
>villain’s personal mission is to force the hero to betray his morals
God damn it it's Steven Universe
You forgot that both were only good by 1999 standards
It really is a dead-on comparison
There is very little in Morrison's work that's total nonsense and he goes out of his way to explain what almost anything is, provided people ask him at some point or he feels like bringing it up.
It sounds like you're a bit of a pleb tbqh.
Hero took a life. Least in the anime, still haven't gotten around to reading the manga.
>Trigun inspired Wild Arms
>Wild Arms inspired Symphogear
to anyone answering this question, can you imagine your answer inspiring an entry about super powered girls beating each other up?
He still offs Leggo my Legato in the manga, just at a much later point and with largely different circumstances.
tried reading it but the constant stupid whacky bullshit is such a turnoff and I couldn't get more than two volumes in
LISTEN TO MY SOOOONG
I'm not really seeing any connection between wild arms and symphogear
Symphogear is all Steven Universe gets praised for, 'cept its actually good
And Hibiki, much like Sabin, suplex a giant vehicle.
Legato did nothing wrong dammit
He ate a fucking steak made out of people
Transmetropoltian
The fact that we'll never get an animated adaptation of Trigun Maximum is real goddamn depressing
Well he did kill people by cramming them into an armored van, mashing them into a mushy pulp that spilled out the vents
Fuuuuck....
>Knives motivation is more than just "some guy on a space ship was mean to me so I hate humans now :("
>Knives has a plan outside "kill people and wait for Vash while drinking wine"
>Legato has a backstory and is creepier than all fuck
>More Gung-Ho Guns, More Gung-Ho Guns for everyone!
>bittersweet ending
why live
And then ate said mushy pulp, without even cutting it or using any utensils
No he didn't eat the mushy pulp. He did eat a big honking steak of unknown origin.
Awesome soundtrack though.
It's obviously the resultant "meat" made from crushing those people.
How do you make a fully formed steak out of blood mush? This didn't come from the people he crushed to death.
I will say the anime did the legato vs Vash fight way better and actually forced him to compromise on his morals. And I liked the explanation for his powers more as well, I think they were something retarded like steel wires in the manga.
Holy shit Trigun gets dark in parts
The counterpart of Evangelion is clearly Watchmen, same ambiance and same deconstruction.
tried to rewatch vash fairly recently and it was not good
forgot he was the epitome of that "I have two sides..." meme
I always thought of Eva as the "watchmen" of giant robot anime personally, right down to one of the characters engineering a major catastrophe that the protagonists are unable to stop. Rei is basically doctor Manhattan as a schoolgirl
This ain't it family, Morrison and NGE both great but very different
kinda off topic I guess, but Trigun: Badlands Rumble is one of the most fun anime movies I've ever scene, aside from one scene toward the end where they attempt to make you think that Vash was killed and everyone gets emo (that thankfully was fairly brief) was a joy to watch.
Morrison's JLA is superhero comics' Gurren Lagann IMO
Eh I kinda liked the manga powers better because they were tangible like the rest of the manga GHG's powers, rather than "people are just telekinetic here??" like the anime. In the manga he has the ability to control people using threads that he can hook into their bodies or, later on, spends months carefully hooking them into his own body so he can use himself like a puppet after Knives paralyzed him.
Legato didn't eat the mushed people, though the steak could always be human as they do mention in the manga that cannibalism happens due to food shortages caused by the disappearing plants. In general the manga gets really dark, though.
I mean, Legato is a former sex slave who is about to be raped to death when Knives shows up and pulls a Ghost Ship on the entire town, accidentally sparing Legato because Legato's powers subconsciously kept Knives' blades from splitting him in half.
>Neon Genesis Evangelion - Grant Morrison
Nigga what
I'm a huge Morrisonfag but Eva's equivalent is Watchmen.
What? He had Vash's real arm that got shot off. Thats what gave him the powers.
>Gurenn Lagann - All Star Superman
>Neon Genesis Evangelion - Grant Morrison
>End of Evangelion - Final Crisis
>FLCL - Super Buddies
according to whom?you are a fucking idiot pal
Trigun is a fuckin trip. The Gung Ho Guns are bad people and dangerous, but then there’s Legato fuckin Bluesky. Even his theme. It’s like if Mr. Zsasz suddenly became a Flash villain; Barry would puke the first scene he came across.
>it's good writing if you can't understand what's going on by the book alone and have to seek out ancillary books and accounts
DING DING DING PRETENTIOUS NERD DETECTED
It literally did. And you saw all the blood being squeezed out, that's just the meat that was left over.
>It literally did.
It literally did? Oh, okay, show me the panel where it indicates the steak came from them.
>>More Gung-Ho Guns, More Gung-Ho Guns for everyone!
Justice for Elendira
>I need to see the steak being directly made from the crushed man meat
God, you sound like somebody with no reading comprehension or imagination. Yea, sure, the truck was there to just crush people and is sitting wherever it was located filled with crushed up people for literally no reason.
Idiot.
Is Nightow the most notable mangaka who'd converted to Catholicism? It made a pretty interesting impression on his work.
So he's legit into the religion? Most nip artists just seemed to use that stuff because it was trendy to them.
Yeah, dunno if he kept it up and still practices, but he converted and went through the sacraments when he was in his 20s.
Huh, certainly interesting.
Fuck, now I want to see the Evangelion cast cosplaying Watchmen
>Rei Manhattan
>Shinji as Nite Owl
>Toji as Comedian
>Rorschasuka
Photon idiot adventures reminded me of wander over yonder more... but that's mainly because of the main villain stealing the show.
A few mangaka are actually catholi, the creator of GITS apparently was originally planning to become a priest.
Yea, gonna have to say no to a lot of that. Was Eva was fun and certainly had some interesting concepts, it wasn't nearly as deep as many people make it out to be. Hell, the creator himself said he threw in most of the symbolism because "it looked really cool", and even the stuff that did relate to his own psychological issues from a traumatic accident he was in didn't really do much for the narrative beyond grounding the cast somewhat more so than some other mecha anime casts.
Trigun is Spider-Man Clone Saga
Nice to see that they can have that belief and not let it turn them into sourpusses like American Catholics.
Wait, Shirow is religious? Wow, never would've pegged that from his work.
>you will never cuddle a qt smol like Meryl
>or get snu-snu'd by big beauty Milly
Is there even a Yea Forums equivelent of Texhnolyze?
FLCL is clearly Rogers' run on Blue Beetle.
>Wait, Shirow is religious?
Wait no sorry it was actually Mamoru Oshii that was going to be a priest my bad.
Whats the Yea Forums equivalent?
>end of evangelion- final crisis
Wrong, it's watchmen, it's an overdone point but that's because it's true. Also if you take the the battle shounen = capeshit and mecha= paranormal adventure then Evangelion=hellboy. It was made in the 90s and turned from goofy or overwrought adventure to actually dark at the cost of the genres popularity.
Milly probably would be much gentler than Meryl
Hard to say, she was pretty clumsy at times and banged up people without thinking about where she was going while lugging her minigun around. As for Meryl, just depends on if you're big enough to IMAGINE her all over the place.
>Yea, sure, the truck was there to just crush people and is sitting wherever it was located filled with crushed up people for literally no reason.
You... didn't actually read the manga, did you? The truck was there because the police squad drove it to confront Legato and the other Guns in the area, who proceeded to brutally murder said police squad in a spectacularly violent fashion. The fact that you think the truck was "sitting wherever it was located" for the express purpose of feeding Legato is bizarre and I have to wonder at your poor reading comprehension. I know the manga's fight scenes can be confusing but "but what other reason would a truck be there except to make people steaks even though it makes no sense in the context of either scene" is ridiculous.
Batman
not even memeing or joking
I did read the manga, retard. And it's obvious to anyone with the capacity to think that the steak came from the crushed up people. Goddamn, you are beyond fucking stupid if you think they just threw in a sloppy steak eating scene RIGHT AFTER for no apparent reason.
scooby-doo
I've always thought the same thing. It's honestly a pretty obvious comparison even down to the fact that people throw the word deconstruction around too much when talking about them.
Yeah this. Though I do think Vash is cooler. He also does have to kill someone.
And he only cries sometimes, with plenty of his fits being played for laughs instead of "Oh, I'm so conflicted!"
snu-snufags are very much locked into a 2 party rut.
It's either snu-snu or it's not a big girl.
Tasteless to be honest.

Isn't Vash ripoff of Superman?
