People do exaggerate how bad it is (I mean, I have seen people claiming it's the worst entry in the series), but it's still pretty shit, a 5/10 at best.

The movie is entertaining, but when you break it down it’s a mess.

Also the entire intro of the movie where we first see Apocalypse getting entombed was god awful.

this. I love the X-Men franchise but Apocalypse was literally the worst movie in it. Origins has entertainment value but most of Apocalypse's story falls flat and the effects during the last quarter are laughable. I feel like they should have gone with new characters for the Horsemen and way less of a focus on Magneto and Mystique
this is also true. I hate JLaw but a proper scriptwriter could have forced her into the story without her coming off as annoying. most of the characters not being important only made things worse. It definitely wasn't bad but there are few good things about it. My favourite scene was the beginning because it actually made the old Horsemen interesting

I rolled my eyes everytime someone made a point of how much they loved Jennifer Lawrence

Eveyone takes a backseat to JLaw, Prof X, and Magneto. No one else gets any development or screentime. Which annoyed people wanting to see more of their favorite characters (like Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, Pyslocke) only to have JLaw hog it up because she was in Hunger Games and Fox wouldn’t let her go. And Magneto stole most of Apocalypse’s spotlight and thunder despite it suppose to be his movie.
AND they managed to somehow have a Wolverine cameo out of nowhere (because we just haven’t had enough Wolverine apparently even though he was the main star in all the old movies). For a movie called X-Men it focuses on the worse characters.

Also, characters do horribly horrific things and are instantly forgiven at the end like nothing happened. No punishment or even acknowledgement of their shitty behavior.

First Class was able to ride the wave of NOT being The Last Stand or X-Men Origins.
All three are way below Apocalypse.

The only things of value are the castings of McAvoy and Fassbender, and even in that movie they border on being wasted. They're given almost nothing to do.

And it's kinda funny how much shit JLaw gets for DOFP and Apocalypse, when she's so much more annoying in First Class.

When I watched it I thought it was pretty average, then I watched the mcu post AoU where I stopped some years before.
It's not bad but less then average.
The thing I didn't like at all was making Storm a horseman.
Storm in general was pretty useless save for that final blow.

It was as good as AoU

70% is a C grade, user.
