Yea I hear you I just get really into these movies. It was cathartic to see her get power stoned, but thats cause almost every second she was on screen was so bad.
I can at least admit the scenes I liked with her.
She wasnt bad in the first half, just kind of there, it was only the final battle that really sucked.

I disagree with "almost every second she was on screen was so bad", though. Her presence in the last fight was fine. Her displayed power level was acceptable since she is a living conduit of an infinity stone; it's hardly a surprise that she can brush off a headbutt. And it's not a surprise that a direct, point-blank blast from another infinity stone would overpower her.

I feel like Yea Forums just hates Brie, perhaps justifiably, and projects a lot of that on to the character.

I am worried how they could possibly write her into more movies? Marvel isnt equipped to deal with a “superman” level of power. Even the powerhouses have flaws of weaknesses. Think how Thor has his hubris, Hulks lack of control, Strange and Wanda are glass cannons. Captain Marvel needs to be waaaay less powerful or have a waaay more humbled personality to be a compelling character. Im sure some folks love the embodiment of a mary sue, but I think thats a minority.
Yes she made a lot of money, but tell everyone how important her movie us before the 22nd movie in a series and force theaters to run her movie all the way till Endgame so people can plan double features and its not surprising.

I know she's Captain Stoic but I really hope they push her compassionate side in the sequels. I was reading some Bronze Age X-Men when I decided to check her book as Ms Marvel and found her to be compelling with how emotional and caring she can be.

Some of the characters don't have obvious flaws but they typically aren't the centre of a movie, or their arcs are a bit more subdued.
Then there's Steve: he seems like the perfect boyscout, but his flaw is that he can't accept the modern world or his friends are flawed. He antagonizes Tony and hides Bucky's actions.

Carol gets captured for like an hour and then escapes almost immediately. After unlocking her full power she masters it almost immediately.

Remember how Fury said in WS he lost an eye last time he trusted someone?
What if Carol, after unlocking her powers was like "You Kree think I'm too emotional? I'll show you emotion" and goes beserk.
This fits with the gaslighting theme I've heard about: just because the gaslighting (by the Kree) has stopped, doesn't mean you can't suffer and lose yourself to the effects anymore.
This outburst would then fuck up Fury's eye and cost several allied lives, Shield or Skrull refugees or whatever, it has to cost SOMETHING. This is what makes Fury go from cheerful and agreeable to a distrustful hardass. The alien cat was a little funny but ultimately disappointing.
Maybe later her friend gets her plane shot down and has to eject but her parachute malfunctions. So Carol, AFTER fucking up, has to balance and focus her emotions and manages to fly (maybe in a rudimentary form) and save her.
After this sort of mini-redemption she has earned the "I don't have to prove anything to you line" because she knows she can control her emotions if she focuses, but she sure as fuck doesn't need to hold back on her abductors alone.
Finally, Fury is pissed and doesn't trust her. She gives him the pager to call her in case of emergency but he says something like "don't bet on it". So it makes sense he doesn't call her until the world is dying around him so fuck it bring out the walking nuke.

Also I don't really hate refugee Skrulls but they seem kinda boring to me. Most of the fun with them is the insidious nature.
And FFS do something interesting with Ronan for once.

TL;DR Carol's flaws should actually cost something, she should struggle a bit more in learning her powers, Fury's loss of eye and innocence should be more significant

Fury losing his eye to the cat was an insult to the audience's intelligence. What you're suggesting could have defenitely been a plotpoint at the middle of the film. The movie is so disappointing and the fact that Carol doesn't even encounter any sort of hardship, other than the debacle of her memory returning, is sad and makes her hard to root for.

Because most of those planets are under the protection of big empires embroilled in intergalatic war. For example, Earth 616 might be considered a backwater planet by most empires during the silver to bronze age but they were praised for being dangerous or resourceful enough to fight off Galactus or the Stranger that even the Shi'ar was afraid to make contact with them. You have also have to take in consideration which planet they can habitate and which ones are possible to habitate for refugees. Basically, It's a complicated issue and Carol having a teleporting ability, which is better than the capabilities of most civilization, helps alot. It's better this way. She can stay offworld for a long time and that means less screentime for her.
