Literally nobody cares about this garbage
Literally nobody cares about this garbage
I do.
Not a fan of the casting and the Phoenix story has already been done
He does
Why ARE they doing the Pheonix line again? There are other XMen story archs.
>trailer has JEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN twice within a minute of each other
10 out of 10
FoX-Men is creatively bankrupt
I have no idea, also I hate the first class universe, making mystique a main hero is fucking dumb
And yet you keep making threads as a subtle shill tactic
I do :(
Simon Kinberg wanted to do it right after X3 was derailed by executive meddling.
And this his do-over also got derailed by executive meddling.
Guy can't catch a break.
They've already touched upon all the iconic ones that are fit for theatrical adaptation, so none of the ones that require a ton of setup, are set mostly in space, or are too touchy for that sweet PG13 rating (RIP Mutant Massacre)
Why, Phoenix is lame, who cares about jean gray
I do
So I never read the original Dark Phoenix arc but I always assumed there was more to it than the plots of these movies claim there is. Am I wrong? Is it simply Jean getting possessed, turning evil, and fucking shit up?
We know, just let the fart happen and we'll all move on from it.
What are the odds that we'll ever see an X-Men movie that doesn't involve Magneto?
Any of the wolverine spinoffs
Dark PhoeniX review embrago lifts Tomorrow at 10PM(PST)/1AM(EST).
The MCU will probably gives Mags a break and save him for the sequel
This had better be a movie where she just turns everyone gay.
Uncanny X-Men was written by Chris Claremont, there was always more going on.
It should be called X-Women.
he wouldn't have done it right regardless.
MCU X-Men
The Phoenix isnt even what turns her evil. There's a period of her being mind controlled and forced into slutty servitude that ultimately breaks her and makes her go "Dark".
At the very least this new one seems to show that the Phoenix is a separate being and not just that Jean was a psycho bitch all along like X3 made her out to be.
God I hate every bit of the cast except Magneto and Charles.
I'm unironically more hyped for this than FFH
Pretty much this is my reason for having no interest.
Okay, so, for one, it was Chris Claremont, so it was ALWAYS fucking insanely complicated, and for another, this was in the days before EVENTS and such, so a lot of these storylines tended to blend together, so there wasn't really a "Dark Phoenix Saga" as such.
But BASICALLY, The X-men were in space for completely unrelated reasons, then Gene Gray dies. Then Gene Gray comes back, first as a science experiment, except not really, then she REALLY comes back with the power of the Phoenix, which is basically a cosmic entity that's on fire and does stuff because REASONS.
At some point, Phoenix decides to go evil and becomes the DARK PHOENIX and kills an entire planet of people. Gene Gray has to then go on space-trial for genocide and the X-Men have to defend her, and then it turns out that she was under mind control the whole time, and the Phoenix Force might not even be real. It was all very strange.
I have had like three friends ask me this same question.
"Wasn't this what X-3 was about?"
It's probably going to bomb. Still going to see it though cuz I love McAvoy and Fassbender
lel
stop projecting, you dimwit. there's plenty of people hyped to see it. I'm cautious about it because Apocalypse kinda sucked but I still want to see it, if only to see JLaw finally bite the fucking dust
It's worth noting that a lot of what we now consider to be part of the Phoenix saga is the result of retcons that came later. For example, Jean was originally intended to go evil and then die. Later someone wanted to bring her back and the EIC agreed, but only on the condition that she somehow be absolved of her crimes. So they decided it wasn't Jean, it was actually the Phoenix Force which it turns out was a sentient being and just took her form for shits and giggles and the real Jean was in suspended animation.
The worst part of this is that at the time Cyclops had moved on after mourning Jean and married Madelyne Pryor who looked eerily similar to her, and even had a kid. Then Jean comes back and he just ditches his family, and to soften THAT blow they decide Madelyne was actually a clone all along and part of a Mr Sinister plot, so it was actually okay for Scott to just abandon her because she'd become evil anyway.
I'm interested, but it pretty much looks exactly like X3.
>Gene
You seem to actually know about the comic, so how do you keep making this mistake?
Would it have the Shi'ar and the M'kraan crystal? That would be cool.
X-Men really fucked up in keeping the status quo. They made the good characters twisted and reprehensible that's it's kinda sad.
>Jean
Man, I'm tired
Holy shit that's right
This is how much of a clusterfuck that whole thing was; I completely forgot that JEAN fucking DIED and STAYED DEAD LONG ENOUGH FOR SCOTT TO RAISE A FAMILY.
It's not a Let's Make a Comic thread movie, sadly.
God fuck the Phoenix and fuck Jean. Let my man Cyclops be with Emma in the MCU. Audiences probably associate Jean as Wolverines main love interest now anyway.
heh, nothin personel kid
>The Phoenix
>But Magneto is there again for no reason
>Also Mystique
>Sophie Turner
Mystique being pushed as a main protagonist is sleep inducing and Sophie Turner as Jean has been a revelation in how bad an early casting can turn out.
What the fuck
Is that the whore from Game of Thrones?
fpbp, OP blown the fuck out yet again
KEK
Wow, everything about that page is awful. It's actually kinda impressive.
>there's plenty of people hyped to see it.
Nope
Hey sophie Turner is for af
^hot
Her name is actually Jean Joestar
Holy fuck that's some ugly art right there
I liked the original sentence more
Probably cause those would be tied with other marvel properties outside of the x-men.
Also cause its literally the same writer from X-3.
Jeanfags do
Jeanfag pls
Deadpool movies?
Though it’s amazing how this whole thing with the Phoenix is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. In the original trilogy, suppressing Jean results in her going Dark Phoenix once the power is awakened yet even when Professor X doesn’t and convinces her to embrace it, she still goes Dark Phoenix. You’d think part of fixing the timeline would involve not having to rehash Dark Phoenix saga again
I won't see it opening week since Singer insulted my favorite X-Men movie by insulting my favorite Star Wars movie.
My idea for an X-Men movie would be Into The Savage Land. Maybe throw Deadpool in there because he works well with dinosaurs. Just something totally fun and different. Sauron and Mr.Sinister for the villains.
I know right you'd think WB made it or something
>So I never read the original Dark Phoenix arc but I always assumed there was more to it than the plots of these movies claim there is. Am I wrong? Is it simply Jean getting possessed, turning evil, and fucking shit up?
It was more than that.
She was handking Phoenix fine but then...
She suffered mental manipulations that destabilized her and created another personality that was bad and eating planets,
a Phoenix adaptation would need 2 or 3 movies to flow more organically.
