I will never not be mad at how the MAX Squadron got completely fucked.
ITT: Things you'll never not be mad about
That's JMS for you.
He's like Bendis, but instead of disappointing you, he just leaves you hanging. See also: The Twelve.
But he did finish the Twelve.
It's not even just the JMS stuff, everyone who came after him ran it even further into the ground. The post-Ultimate Power run sucked and the 2011 Supreme Power mini that ended things was atrocious.
I did like Zarda being in New Ultimates but otherwise I agree.
What they need to do with the franchise is as follows...
> Let Bendis finish his use of the SS.
> Release a Squadron anthology series.
> First arc is of the mismatched Robinson team stealing a cosmic cube and restoring all of their universes.
> JMS Nighthawk back to before Ultimate Power where JMS left off.
> Great Society back before the incursions started.
> After that the book rotates between the various SS universe each arc. JMS, classic, Sinister, Great Society, the world Hickman's Hyperion was on and beyond.
Bendis? You mean Aaron?
And yeah, a Crisis on Two Earths type adventure with all the SS characters where everyone gets sent back home would be fun. Maybe pair it up with an Exiles arc?
Supreme Power was completely consistent to itself until Fury showed up.
Yeah. Ultimate Power was when everything went to shit.
That Superman family cartoon that got rejected
I was pretty on board with the post-Secret Wars run of the Squadron where all the members were from different dimensions. Shame they decided to shit all over MAX Nighthawk though
He was the one who got his own mini-series, only to be implausibly murdered off-screen in as part of a tie-in, right?
That's the one.
MAX got fucked over very similary to Black Label....the only difference that it didn't even need a nation-wide media controversy to lose its balls.
I only read the first volume, who are most of these people supposed to be compared to the Justice League?
the authority/widlstorm reboot
FITE ME
The fact that Nighthawk, the expy of Batman died via getting shot was stupid as Hell. Not only would he be certain to have worn a bullet proof vest but if he had been putting himself in the position to be shot in the head, it would have been an LMD for him to fake his death to go underground and undermine Hydra from the shadows. Dude doesn't simply get shot in civilian form and die
These guys being killed for a Deadpool joke
Inertia I dunno. Burbank (guy next to Bush) is their version of Master Mayhem, who was a Doctor Doom type
Blur - The Flash
Hyperion - Superman
Tom Thumb - Atom
Nuke - I dunno, whoever is radioactive
Amphibian - Aquaman
Doctor Spectrum - Green Lantern
Arcanna - Zatanna I guess, she's more like Scarlet Witch
Shape - He's more of a Hulk/Blob guy
Zarda - Wonder Woman
The Supreme Power associations are looser than Squadron Supreme were though. Like Zarda apart from being a flying brick has nothing in common with Wonder Woman personality-wise
>Nuke - I dunno, whoever is radioactive
Nuke from the Squadron Supreme was originally based on Fire Storm, although the Supreme Power version kind of resembles Captain Atom more due to the containment suit.
>Inertia I dunno. Burbank (guy next to Bush) is their version of Master Mayhem, who was a Doctor Doom type
Burbank is supposed to be Luthor. I don't know who Inertia is supposed to be analogous to (wiki says Vixen, but I don't know if that really works).
Nuke is Firestorm.
Shape is kind of like Plastic Man and Elongated Man in terms of powers.
Why didn't they finish the fucking fight between Redstone and Hyperion goddamnit!
Their books sucked and completely missed the point of the series it was riffing on.
I actually blame Bendis and Chaykin.
>completely missed the point
what were you expecting the book to be?
