Snyder peaked with The Black Mirror.
That wasn't even anything and doesn't deserve it's outsized reputation. As always, carried by the art.
I think that this is all just a scarecrow fear gas induced nightmare. Great artwork by the way.
THE SUPER ANTILIFE EQUATION!
Is this the same book?
At this point there's no use getting upset by Snyder doing what he always does, which is crank things up to 11 and let the artists have fun. He uses Morrison and Moore concepts like blunt objects but at least he's trying to pay respect in his own goofy overwritten way. Which is much better than being like Geoffrey Johns and hoarding toys
it hasn't finished yet, but it shows promise of being a big beautiful goodbye to snyder's batman
>Which is much better than being like Geoffrey Johns and hoarding toys
Is it? The problem I have with Snyder is that I don't find any of his dumb ideas sincere, they're feel more like committee by designed epic ninja awesome lowest common denominator. I'm talking peak Chris Hardwick geek culture y'know what I mean?
>y'know what I mean?
Not really.
Can you gimme some examples so I can see things your way
Like when in the first issue of Metal he had the Justice league form a giant robot.
Sounds cool right? But it went nowhere, that page was just there for the preview.
Or like how he said he based those Dark Multiverse Batmen around genres of metal but it's not really there, he's just saying because it sounds cool.
>genres of metal
Oof, you're exposing yourself.
Haven't you heard of Doomsday metal? What soggy aquatits metal? Bet you've never heard of the Norwegian genre of metal called Red Death, have you? And remember 80's Hair Metal, that's the Metal that makes you laugh.
I could go on and on but you'll probably end up denying you've ever heard of that genre of Metal which is only legally allowed to be played in by pale green lantern light.
Yes it's just the variant cover.
Ok not sure what you mean by variant cover but good to know it's the same book. My son asked me to buy him a copy. And the last time he asked me to pick him up a comic he yelled at me. He wanted some giant Walmart superman, written by a king or something about a king and when I asked the clerk he was sure my son was talking about a king-sized paperback of superman. And I ended up picking up the copy in the link and my son called me stupid.
I have higher hopes that this will at the very least turn out okay, maybe even good. Unlike his last big sloppy Batman romp, this is all self contained. Metal was too spread out, all of the cool moments happened in the tie in comics, and instead of feeling like this big epic culmination and finale of Snyder's Bat story, it just served as an advertisement for new books and lame status quo changes. I have faith in his, but it's still too early to decide.
So what is this, an alternate Final Crisis?
I hope the story is more interesting than Batman is in a coma because he got shot in Crime Alley.
>not sure what you mean by variant cover
A variant cover is an alternative cover to a comic book, it's mostly there for collectors. It's the same comic just with a different cover.
>My son asked me to buy him a copy. And the last time he asked me to pick him up a comic he yelled at me. He wanted some giant Walmart superman, written by a king or something about a king and when I asked the clerk he was sure my son was talking about a king-sized paperback of superman.
Your son is talking about the Walmart Superman 100-page Giant comics that feature a writer named Tom King. You're better off not buying the comic since his story isn't that good and it was a subject of controversy a while back.
its good, but i hope it doesnt turn into
>it was all a coma dream
i doubt it will, because this takes place outside of any continuity
anyway, things i liked
>jokers head in a jar
>batman escaping arkham
>the people turning against the superheroes, its a neat concept
things i didnt like
>the people turning against the superheroes
normal people couldnt take out superman
>post apocalyptic setting
>wonderwomans mohawk
greg capullo said it was his and snyders "dark knight" which i interpreted to mean dark knight returns, which means we might get a good ol' batman and superman fight.
eager to see where it goes.
dont let your kid touch anything by tom king. his writing is more mature and has more mature themes a kid may find to be boring. plus hes a lame writer
It's top clown world.
It's basically all flash, no substance so far. So classic Snyder. The entire Arkham portion feels like completely unnecessary filled made as bait for the previews. I have no interest in Snyder continuing his "Batman memory implant device makes new Batmen" idea. The whole apocalypse status quo isn't particularly interesting either. Personally I think Snyder wasted nearly the entire issue on superfluous bullshit, when he could have started the story in medias res and just done short flashbacks and it would have been far more entertaining read.
